Chapter Three:

It was late afternoon when Emily brought Jeffrey into Kelly’s. When she arrived no one was there and one table was set, with Candles. Soft, romantic music was playing in the back ground. Emily held Jeffrey in her arms and spoke to him. "What do you think Lucky is up to?"

"Wouldn’t you like to know Mrs. Spencer."

"Yes I would. What’s going on? Yesterday we barely speak and today what seems to be a romantic dinner. What’s going on Spencer?"

"Sit down and you’ll find out."

Emily did as she was told and Lucky took Jeffrey and put him in a near by playpen. Emily studied Lucky as he moved about the room. He was still strong, still hansom, and he still made her heart pound like a jackhammer.

"Spencer, what’s going on?"

"Em, I think we should make it look like this is a real marriage."

"Makes sense I guess." She said as she placed her hands on the table.

Lucky sat across from her and took her hand in his. He smiled and they then ate dinner in silence.

About a month later Emily was returning to Port Charles for another weekend with her Husband and child. Still thinking of Lucky and Jeffrey like that felt odd but in a way it felt completely right.. Lucky meet her at the Gate and the drove back to the house. When they got in the Foyer Lucky turned and looked at her. "Em, there’s a Charity event here next weekend Will you be able to make it?"

Emily looked at him and smiled. "Yeah I’ll be here." She wanted to tell him she’d do anything she could to please him. Anything to make up for the curtain of lies.

The rest of the weekend went on as all the others had. Emily spending her day’s with Jeffrey and then her evenings were mainly spent alone in her bedroom reading, except of course dinner which she shared with her husband.

The next week end Emily arrived and Lucky took her back to the house. Saturday Evening they went to the Charity dinner and Emily wore the most form fitting lavender dress. With Amethyst earrings and necklace. When Lucky saw her walk down the stairs he wanted to pull her into his arms but forced himself not to. All through the dinner he looked at her, he studied her poise and how she reacted to the others how they reacted to her. Afterwards when they arrived home they went there separate ways. Emily went to her room and took of the gown and put on her white terry cloth robe. She left her room and went down the hall to one of the spare rooms. The one she was heading to had a Skylight and instead of reading this evening she wanted to watch the night sky.

As she sat there she didn’t here Lucky come in the room and close the door behind himself. Emily was still looking up at the stars and Lucky walked up behind her and placed his hands on her soft, hidden shoulders. Emily jumped slightly and looked up at him. When his fingers finally touched her skin, she began to crave more of his touch. He moved and sat down on the lounge next to her. He wanted to touch her, he wanted to make slow, sweet, passion driven love to her. Not that sloppy love they had made the night they married. He knew she loved him. He had heard her say it over the baby monitor. He had to decide if he would take her or leave her.

He leaned closer and began to kiss her deeply on the lips. She reached out and wrapped her arms around her neck and ran her hands though his hair. She kissed him back hoping it would persuade him to continue. Lucky pulled her closer and began to kiss her along her shoulders and necks. Emily let’s out a soft moan. Lucky pushes the bathrobe off her body and it falls to the floor.

Lucky began to explore her body with kisses. Each time his lips touched her fair skin she felt the red hot passion. Lucky pulled away and lifted her in his arms. He carried her out of the room and down the hall. Here he had to make a choice. Does he take her to his bed or hers. He knows she wants to be with him in his and he wants that as well but the hurt, the pain between them forces him to make the wrong choice. Lucky kisses Emily as he carries her to her room.

There in her room Emily now believes he doesn’t love her, he just wants her for sex. Yet she needs to have him hold her, kiss her, touch her. Emily and Lucky made love through out the night.

When Emily woke up the next morning, Lucky had left and her robe which had been left in the other room. Emily went in her bathroom and showered. She broke down in tears knowing she couldn’t go on like this she had to tell him, and tell him everything.

The weekends in Port Charles had come and gone. Now Jeffrey and Lucky would be staying in her penthouse in San Francisco. Emily had spent the entire week making sure everything was perfect. She wanted Lucky to be proud of her and she wanted him and Jeffrey to be happy. As she walked down the airport terminals looking for there gate her heart raced. As she saw them step out a smile came across her face.

"Hey Spencer, Looking for me?" She called out playfully.

"Yes Spencer we are." He called out as he walked over to her. He wanted to kiss her, hold her in his arms and never let go.

"Let’s go."

They went to the parking lot and Emily directed them towards her royal blue Jeep Wrangler. Once they were driving back to her penthouse. The silence was painful so Emily turned the stereo on.

"Since you've gone
Nothing really matters
all I do is hang out with my pillow
I wait in anticipation
For year call that never comes."

"Since you've gone
Don't care about tomorrow
Since you've gone my heart's barely beating
I wait
In anticipation
for your touch it never comes."

"Another wild Friday night
And I'm waiting here for you
My head says stay home and die
But my heart says break on through."

"There were times
When you realy loved me
All the times we would run togehter
To the heart
The heart of the city
Dreams that filled the night."

"Another wild Friday night
And I'm waiting here for you
My head says stay home and die
But my heart says break on through."

"I ought to get into my car
Hit that pedal hard
I'll drive until I finda way
Since you've gone away."

"Since you've gone
Nothing really matters
All I do is hang out with my pillow..."

Emily parked the car and she and Lucky got out and brought Jeffrey inside. When Jeffrey was settled Lucky and Emily went into the Living room.

"Well, Welcome to San Francisco." Emily said as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath as she began to feel dizzy.

"Emily are you alright?" He asked, his voice filled with concern.

"Yeah, I’m fine. I think that um I just need to lay do……."Emily fell backwards and lucky rushed to her side.

"Emily!? Emily!? Come on baby wake up! Please wake up! Baby, I can’t lose you again wake up!"

Lucky was in a panic and picked up the phone and dialed 911. A few minutes later paramedic’s came bursting through the door and took Emily to the hospital. Lucky went and got Jeffrey and took him with him to the hospital. When he got there the doctor was waiting for him.

"Mr. Spencer?"

"Yes, that’s me. You are?"

"Dr. Ramsey, Sir your wife is fine. Nothings wrong with her."

"But she fainted, I was there when it happened!"

"Mr. Spencer, She’s alright, would you like to see her?"

"Yes please."

Dr. Ramsey led Lucky down the hall to Emily’s room. She was awake and sitting up in bed. Holding the pillow to her body. What she had just found out was so unthinkable to her. She couldn’t believe it.

"Emily?" Lucky asked as he stood in the doorway.

"Lucky, come in."

Lucky stepped into the room and walked over to her. His mind was racing he wanted her to be alright. He wanted everything to be alright.

"You’re alright?"

"According to Dr. Ramsey, I’m perfectly healthy for a woman in my condition."

"Condition? Your not sick are you?"

"Depends on being pregnant is considered sick in your mind." She looked away as the tears built in her eyes.

"Pregnant?" He asked, secretly knowing she couldn’t be.

"That’s what Dr. Ramsey said."

"I’ll be back soon." Looks at Jeffrey, "Stay with Mommy ok."

Jeffrey claps and Lucky places him in Emily’s arm.

Lucky left the room and went in search of the chapel.

After searching every floor Lucky finally found the chapel. He stepped in side and went and sat down in a pew. The past five months were snowballing and hitting him hard. He hadn’t cried over Nik and Liz’s deaths. He couldn’t let that pain eat away at him.

"Why?! Why in the WORLD did you take my brother and best-friend away? How? They were so young and had so much more they could do in this world. Damn you God! This isn’t how life was supposed to be! Emily and I should be happy! We should be able to admit we love each other! I never should of let her walk out eight years ago. I refuse to lose her again." Lucky sat back and tears began to fall from his eyes. "I love her and I don’t want to lose her."

Lucky returned to Emily’s room and stood in the doorway watching his wife and his son playing.

"Em?"

"Lucky, where’d you go?"

"Some place where I could think."

"Lucky I never meant to get pregnant…." She said as she looked down at Jeffrey.

"I know that Em."

"We can discuss a custody arrangement later."

"Yeah, when we get back to Port Charles."

"Back? What are you talking about?"
"You, Jeffrey and I are going back to Port Charles tonight."

"Why?"

"So I can keep and eye on you."

"You think you can control me?!"

"No I want to make sure everything goes well."

"Fine, take me back to Port Charles." Emily said believing this was some way for Lucky to make sure he had the child when it was born.

Emily sat on her bed in Lucky’s house. She was crying, yet she didn’t know why. There was a knock on the door.

"Come in." She said as though she were a scared child.

Lucky stepped in and walked over to the bed and sat down next to her. "We need to talk."

"I was on the pill Lucky, I didn’t mean to get pregnant sometimes it just happens." She said lying and not wanting to.

"Emily, I know you weren’t on the pill."

Emily looks up at him, her eyes wide with shock.

"How, do you know that?"

"The night we got married, I heard you talking to Jeffrey. The baby monitor was on."

"What did you hear?"

"I heard you tell Jeffrey he was your only chance at motherhood. How you thought you couldn’t have children, how you were told that after the accident when we were seventeen years old." He looks away afraid to say it. "How you never stopped loving me."

Emily looked up at him and sighed. "Does it matter if I love you. YOU have to LOVE me in return."

Lucky took her face in his hands and he tried to speak. He really did but he couldn’t. No matter how much he wanted to tell her he loved her, he understood, he couldn’t. He got up and walked to the door, he turned to look at her and saw the pain in her eyes, "I love you." He then walked out of the room.
