The July 2^nd afternoon seemed to be so far away from Saturday that Emily hadn’t even thought about the 4^th of July. She walked down the stairs of the Mansion, as she was about to leave the house she was stopped by the sound of voices in the living room. She decided to ignore them and left the mansion for her afternoon ‘date’ with Lucky. She had no idea why she had allowed him to talk her into this. She really didn’t want to do this and not at Kellys. Everyone went there, Liz worked there and everyone at school thought they were boyfriend and girlfriend. Even Mr. Murty had commented one day that Liz and Lucky were never absent from school unless the other was. As much as Emily didn’t want to hurt Sly she knew that someone from school would mention something to them, at some point. If it weren’t this afternoon then it would be at another time.

She walked through the park and came upon Nikolas Cassadine sitting at the edge of the fountain looking at the bench where Liz had been the day before. She walked towards him, "Earth to Nikolas Cassadine." Emily said.

"Huh, what?" Nikolas replied.

"You were staring off into space."

"Oh, I didn’t realize."

"What were you thinking about?"

"Nothing." Turns and looks at her, "What’s with the get up?"

"I have a date with my boyfriend at Kellys." She tries not to laugh at her own statement.

"Wait a second, what boyfriend?"

"Your brother." She almost wasn’t ale to say it with a straight face.

"Wh…Wh…What?! Wh….Wh….When?!" Nikolas said with a voice filled with shock.

"Nikolas, if you see me and Lucky together with another guy, please just act as though Lucky and I are dating."

"Okay, I guess. Do you know if Liz is working this afternoon?"

"I think so, why?"

"No reason, just wondering."

"Well I gotta go. I have a date ya’ know. See ya."

"Bye Emily."

KC Scanlon sat on the front steps of the Scanlon house. She was wearing cut off jeans and a tight tee-shirt that showed her naval. She looked around the neighborhood. The front door opened and closed, KC turned around and saw Lark carrying to bottles of water.

"Thirsty?" Lark asked.

"Maybe." KC replied defensively.

"Why are you so defensive? You don’t have Julie bugging you do you?" She sits down next to KC.

"Franks girlfriend? I’ve barely spoken to her."

"Watch out for her."

"Why are you living here?"

"Family troubles. Well ya’ know how yesterday how I said I wasn’t sweet and innocent. Well I slept with a former teacher and an intern named Jake Marshake."

"Ever tempt a priest?" KC asked.

"No, why?"

"I did." KC says this completely calm.

"What? Is that why you came home?"

"Yeah. Listen I only told you because I think you can keep a secret."

"Don’t worry. I won’t tell."

"So have Frank and Joe mentioned anything about the Scanlon BBQ?"

"Not a word."

"Your kidding me!"

"The 4^th of July bash and the Labor Day bash are the high points of summer."

KC stands and walks a few steps forward.

"I have got a great Idea!" KC declared.

"What?" Lark asked.

"The Scanlon BBQ is on."

"Frank and Joe are going to freak."

"Were telling them. Remember they don’t know about the priest."

"Your right. There all at the Hospital let’s go."

KC runs back to the front door and makes sure it’s locked. Then the two girls rush over to the hospital.

Emily walked into Kellys. It was filled with teens from not only PCHS but St. Ed’s as well. Lucky and Sly were at the same table they had been at when they first saw Emily. She walked over to the table and Lucky stood and kissed her on the cheek. No one noticed. Emily sat down and smiled. Suddenly Sly came out with a question. "So how long have you two been a couple?"

"What is it now Five months?" Lucky said.

"Yeah five months. Were still together." Emily replied.

"So…" Sly said not sure what else to say to them.

"Emily, I was thinking that on Saturday you and I could have a picnic in the park, listen to the music, watch the fireworks. What do you day?"

"Lucky, that sounds great." Emily gets a weird feeling in her stomach. Something about this seems different then everything else.

The bell above the door rings and Emily looks towards it and sees Nikolas carrying a small bouquet of daisy’s. "I knew it." Emily said.

"Knew what?" Lucky asked.

"Your brother has a crush on Elizabeth Webber."

"What?! That’s outrageous."

"No way. I saw him in the park before I got here and he asked me if I knew weather or not Liz was working today and I said I think so."

"Um…you guys. You’ve lost me. Lucky since when have you had a brother?"

"Oh yeah, you weren’t around then. See Nikolas is my half-brother. He’s older then me. I’m living with him and his uncle out on spoon island."

"Yeah, this makes sense." Sly said.

Nikolas walked over to the counter and sat down. Lizzie walks out from the kitchen and over to Nikolas.

"Hi Liz." Nikolas says.

"Hi Nikolas. What can I get for you or are you waiting for a date?"

"Actually these are for you."

"They are?" Elizabeth’s voice is filled with surprise and happiness.

"Yeah." He hands them to her and she excepts.

"Thanks Nikolas."

"Um..Liz. I was um…wondering if you would like to go to the park with me on Saturday and watch the fireworks?"

"I’d love to."

"Great. I better go. I’ll talk to you later. Bye."

Emily has a giant smile on her face. The boys are looking at her confused.

"Em, what are you smiling at?" Lucky asked.

"I was right."

"About what?" Sly asked.

"Nikolas liking Liz. He just gave her the flowers and asked her out."

"What?!" Lucky said.

"Looks Like Nikolas and Liz will be at the fourth of July bash together."

Joe was about to walk into Kelly’s when Madeline walked right into him. They both fell down. As they were getting up the saw each other for the first time. "I am soooo sorry." Madeline said.

"Don’t worry about it. Worse things have happened." Replied Joe.

"I’ll try not to. I’m Madeline Davis. I just got to town yesterday."

"I’m Joe Geller. Pleasure to meet you."

Joe and Madeline stepped inside Kelly’s. Nikolas is on his way out and stops to talk to Lucky, Emily, and Sly.

"Hi Emily, Lucky, you must be Lucky’s cousin Sly. I’m Nikolas Cassadine."

"It’s nice to meet you Nikolas. Your right I’m Sly." His sentence trails off when he sees Madeline.

The others turn to see what has caught Sly’s attention.

"Madeline?" Nikolas whispers.

He walks over to her and taps her on the shoulder.

"Madeline Davis, what are you doing in Port Charles?" He asked.

Madeline turned around and saw Nikolas, her eyes widen and she hugged him tightly.

"Nikolas Cassadine, my mother said I could stay."

"Oh Alexis did, did she."

"Yeah she did. So Nikky how are you?"

"I’m perfectly fine Maddie."

Joe, Sly, Emily, and Lizzie watched the two not clear on what was going on. Lucky leaned into Emily and began to whisper something.

"So Em, who’s the girl with Nikolas?"

"No clue." She turned and looked at Lizzie. Emily could see the pain in her eyes.

"This isn’t fair," sly remarked. "You and your brother get all the girls in this town."

"Sly what are you talking about?" Lucky said, momentarily forgetting about his set-up with Emily.

"Lucky, You’ve got Emily, Nikolas first he gives that Elizabeth girl flowers and then he’s hugging the girl that came in with another guy."

"Sly, you’ll find someone. There are plenty of girls in PC."

"Sure I will."

KC and Lark walk off the elevator and over to the Nurse’s station. Eve Lambert and Matt Harmon are behind the desk. KC walks up to them and puts on her sweet and innocent act. "Um..Hello, I was wondering if um…either of you could assist me in finding one of my brothers or my mother." KC said.

"Well, what are there names?" Matt asked.

"Mary, Frank, and Joe Scanlon." KC says with a smile on her face.

Eve had been taking a sip of her coffee and when she heard the names she spit it out all over the nurse’s station.

"Scanlon?" she asked.

"Yes Scanlon. I’m Kathryn-Corrin Scanlon."

"It’s nice to meet you I’m Matt Harmon and this is Eve Lambert. Were friends of your brothers or at least I am."

"It’s a pleasure I’m sure. Do either of you know when Joe will be off work?" KC asked, suddenly she felt someone putting there hands over her eyes.

"Joey! I’m almost 17, stop treating me like I’m 7."

"You were so cute when you were 7 though." Joe replied.

"What? I’m not cute now?"

"You’re my little baby sister, you’ll always be cute."

"Good answer."

"So Katie-Corrie, what are you doing here?"

"Joey, your still gonna call me Katie-Corrie?"

"Yes, especially if you keep calling me Joey."

"Okay, Well I stopped by to see what I needed to do for the Scanlon BBQ on Saturday."

"The 4^th of July right?"

"Yeah."

"I totally forgot about this."

"Joseph Parnell Scanlon! How could you. It’s a tradition."

"Katie-Corrie, we didn’t have one last year since I was on call. Wait right here I’ll have mom Paged and I’ll page Frank."

"Okay."

Joe goes over to the Nurse’s Station and Lark walks over to KC.

"Well?" Lark asked.

" It’ll happen. They have always tried to please the baby of the family."

Joe comes back over to KC and Lark.

"Hi Lark."

"Hi Joe. KC, I’ll wait for you outside."

"Okay."

Lark leaves and Mary steps off the elevator.

"So what is it that I’ve been dragged away from the latest gossip of the hospital." Mary said.

"Talking to Amy." Joe asked.

"Who else. Kathryn-Corrin, what are you doing here?"

"Mom, I came by to ask if there was anything I needed to get for the BBQ on Saturday. Or have you decided to discontinue a family tradition?"

"Joe, what do we need?" Mary asked.

"Everything."

"Well, give your sister the money so she and Lark can go and get everything."

"Water balloons as well?"

"It’s a tradition right?"

"It is. Come on Joe."

"I can’t believe I’ve been guilt tripped by my mother and baby sister."

"Guilt tripped about what?" Frank asked as he walked over to the group.

"Money to get the BBQ supplies. Lark and I are going to go get them."

"Of course the Scanlon BBQ, a Tradition for many, many years."

"Here you go Katie-Corrie." Joe said handing her about four twenty dollar bills.

"KC, here’s a few more. Don’t forget the water balloons." Frank said handing his sister more money.

"I won’t, Don’t forget Girls verse Boys this year. Invite all your friends!" KC said as she walked towards the elevator to meet Lark.

After KC got on the elevator Mary and Frank left and Joe went over to the nurse’s station. Eve and Matt were there and now so were the rest of the interns.

"So Joe, how come you never mentioned your little sister before?" Eve asked.

"Joe, which one’s here? Mary-Irene or Kathryn-Corrin?" Karen asked.

"Because, Mary-Irene and Kathryn-Corrin weren’t in town. Same deal with my younger brother Sean."

"So what did your sister want from you. I saw you and Frank forking over a lot of money."

"All Katie-Corrie..I mean KC wanted was money so she and Lark could pick of the supplies for the BBQ on Saturday. All of you are invited."
