| -Chapter 4- ~Fireworks and Rockets~ It was early Saturday morning each of then teens had woken up bright and early from the anticipation of the day. In one part of town KC and Lark will filling water balloons, making salads and decorating for the BBQ, in another Liz was anxiously awaiting her date to watch the fireworks with Nikolas, while Lucky and Emily prepared for there ‘Date’ in the park. This left Sly, Joe and Madeline left to discover something that would change all the teens lives. KC stood at the Scanlon kitchen sink filling water balloons, none of the adults were awake yet leaving her and Lark to take care of everything. ‘Frankie and Joey should have known better then to leave me alone with the water balloons. Oh well I guess it’ll just be a wet awakening.’ KC was grinning she couldn’t help it. For as long as she could remember the family’s BBQ on the 4th of July consisted of a huge part of the day. After about an hour in the kitchen Lark and KC left the kitchen to go and set up outside. When they came back into the Kitchen Julie had just come in. "You did all of this already?" She asked. "Yeah. We’ve been up for a while." Lark replied. "Do you guys need any help?" Julie asked. KC and Lark looked at each other confused. Julie was being nice to Lark. They decided to just go with it. "We could use some help getting the water balloons outside." KC said. Julie looks over and sees hundreds of Water balloons. "What are the water balloons for?" Julie asked. "The water fight. Watch out my two oldest brothers are deadly at this. Of course normally I’m on there side but I told Joey the other day It was boys verse girls. I didn’t think it would be fair if I was on there team since the three of use have always won." KC said. "So who’s involved in this water fight?" Julie asked. "Everyone who that’s here." KC replied. "This sounds like it’s going to be a great day." "What time is it?" Lark asked. Julie looked at her watch and replied, "10:30, Frank and Joe should have been up by now." "Well I’m going to go and wake them up. Anyone care to join me?" KC said as she took a few water balloons and headed upstairs.
A few moments later Frank Scanlon woke up yelling. Julie and Lark stood in the kitchen trying to comprehend what had just happened.. Frank came down the stairs soaking wet. "Frank, what happened?" Julie asked trying to hide her smile. "KC has declared war." He replied. "Oh, okay." Julie burst out laughing. A few moments later Joe began screaming. "She’s gotten to him as well!" Frank yelled, "This means WAR!!!" He threw a water balloon at Julie and then one at Lark. Lark ran out the door with a few balloons and Julie and Frank Followed. The three fought outside while Joe and KC were running through the Scanlon home. They stop in the Kitchen. "You heard our big brother, this is a war!" She yelled and grabbed a bucket of balloons and threw one at Joe and ran out the door into the other battle. The five continued to throw water balloons until KC threw one and it hit Chris Ramsey who had just arrived with Eve Lambert. "Sorry." KC said. "What is this?" Chris asked. "It’s what’s called a family tradition." KC said as if talking to a small child. "This is war." Chris stated as he picked up a balloon and threw it at KC but he missed her and hit Julie who in return threw one towards him and got Eve. The ‘War’ went on till Scott, Serena, and Karen arrived. Emily stood in front of her mirror. She was dressed in a pair of short blue jeans, a red tee shirt and a white vest. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail held back with a Red and White stripped scrunchie. ‘I look like any other girl trying to look nice for her boyfriend. Yet he’s not my boyfriend. We told Sly we were dating to help with some crazy idea from childhood but there has to be something more. There has to be. Wait stop! You’re analyzing everything. This isn’t right.’ She walked over to her bed and looked at the picture she had next to her bed. It was of her and Lucky. "I wish I could understand what was going on." She said. "Understand what?" asked someone at her door. Emily looked up and over to her door to see Lucky standing there wearing Jeans and a Blue tee shirt. "Um..Hi, you heard me talking to my self?" "Yeah, It was kinda cute." ‘What? I don’t believe I heard that come from Lucky Spencer.’ Emily thought, "So is Sly tagging along on the Date today?" Emily asked. "Nope, it’s just you and me." "Oh." "Let’s go. We have the whole day ahead of us." "Okay." Emily said as she and Lucky left her bedroom. ‘Something is defiantly going on with him. I wonder what.’ She thought as the left the house. Lucky looked at Emily, ‘She look great today. Why is it I never really noticed her before?’ he thought to himself. When they arrive in the park they find a slightly secluded area of the park and Lucky spreads a blanket out on the ground. Emily smiles nervously. Something about this seemed so right and so real. They sat down and just sat there both afraid to say or do anything. "So…." Lucky said after a while as a way to break the silence. "So…" Emily replied. "Did you tell your family where ‘Dating’?" "Why would I do that. I’d like for you to live." "I’m not afraid of Edward." "Well are you afraid of my brother the Mob boss?" "Slightly." "Well that’s why I didn’t tell them. Besides this isn’t real. It’s really for Sly’s benefit right?" "Yeah." Lucky said and Emily could hear the heartbreak in his voice. "Did you tell your family?" "Nikolas knows but, he’s the only one. No one else knows." "I’m gonna get some sno-cones, what flavor would you like?" "Grape, what else would I pick?" "Okay, I’ll be right back." She stood and left Lucky to get the sno-cones. Lucky sat there thinking about nothing about her. For some reason he began to think about what it would be like to kiss her, to touch her. ‘Whoa Spencer, what are you thinking. I mean it’s Emily your friend.’ He thought and then his mind wondered again. Suddenly he felt something cold dripping on his head. "Spencer! Earth to Lucky!" Emily said while holding a dripping grape sno-cone over his head. "I guess I just drifted off. Thanks." He said as she handed him the sno-cone. "What were you thinking about?" "Stuff?" "What kind of stuff?" "Just stuff you wouldn’t understand." "What makes you say that?" "Because I know you would never think of what I was thinking of." "Oh, maybe I don’t want to know then okay." "Okay. So what do you want to do while we spend a day in the park?" "We could just sit here and talk or not say anything at all. We could play some music to pass the time." "Okay." Lucky says and he takes a small radio out from the basket. He turns it on and begins to try and find a station. When he finds one that isn’t breaking up he stops. It’s in the middle of a commercial for a Movie. After the commercial the music begins again. Suddenly ‘On Bended knee’ by Boyz II Men starts. Darlin’ I can’t explain "Em, you want to dance?" "Sure." Lucky extends his hand to help Emily up and she excepts. He takes her in his arms and they begin to dance. At first they’re almost an arms length apart. Can we go back to the days our love was strong Lucky pulls Emily closer. She smiles and they look into each other’s eyes. So many nights I dream of you Emily wraps her arms around Lucky’s neck as he wraps his arms around her waist. Can we go back to the days our love was strong Lucky looks into Emily’s eyes and leans into kiss her. Gonna swallow my pride Emily pulls away from Lucky. Can we go back to the days our love was strong "What was this all about?" She asked. "I have no clue." He replied. They sat down and listened to the music for the rest of the afternoon. Joe was sitting on the edge of the docks, his feet dangling over. He was just thinking, he planned to spend the rest of the day here until the fireworks then he would head over to the park. While sitting there he heard foot steps behind him. He turned and looked up and saw Madeline. He stood up and smiled at her. "Madeline, what brings you here to the docks?" Joe asked. Madeline walked closer to Joe, she smiled coyly and then spoke, "I’m just getting to know Port Charles. I do plan on going to school here and I figure I should know the town. Don’t you?" she said coyly. "Well I guess you do have to know the lay of the land." "Yes, I guess so." "So why aren’t you in the park for the big 4th of July bash?" Madeline asked. "Well, I plan on going there later for the fireworks. Would you like to come with me?" "I’d love to." Madeline smiled at Joe and they both sat down on the docks. "Great." "So it’s a date. I mean not a date but it’s set." Madeline squeaked. "It can be a date. I mean only if you want it to be." "I’d like that." "Great. So would I." Sly walked along the streets of Port Charles all alone. He had decided to leave Emily and Lucky alone on there date. He knew they hadn’t started to see each other until he showed up in town. He just thought it was the best way to push to perfect souls together. "Now what am I going to do with the rest of my summer? I hooked Emily and Lucky now what?" He said to him self. "Do you always talk to your self?" a girl said. Sly turned around and saw KC Scanlon and Lark Madison. "Do I know you?" Sly asked as he walked over to them,. "Hi, I’m KC Scanlon and this is my Friend lark Madison." KC looked at him critically. "I’m Sly, Sly Eckhart." KC’s mouth drops open. Lark looks at her confused. "KC, what is it?" "You’re the Sly Eckhart that put ten packets of Jell-O mix in the school pool?" "Yeah, how do you know about that?" Sly asked. "I go to Saint Mary’s out in California where you apparently go as well." "Scanlon, wait you’re the one that got kicked out for the stuff with the priest." "Shhhh. No one here except you Lark and me know about that. My brothers would flip out if they new." KC retorted "Don’t worry I can keep my mouth shut. If I didn’t my cousin and best-friend would not be on a date right now." Sly said. "KC, we better get back to the BBQ before Frank and Joe realize your not the innocent one." Lark said. "Lark, your right. Sly are you gonna be in the park tonight for the fire works?" "Sly, yeah. I have to check up on my brother why?" KC walks over to Sly and leans in. "Well after the show meet me at the fountain and you’ll find out." KC smiles and walks away. Sly stands there amazed. "Well Miss. Scanlon I can’t wait to find out." Lark and KC are out of earshot when KC bursts out laughing. "KC, what did you say to him?" Lark asked. "I told him to meet me at the fountain after the show." KC replied. "What do you have planned?" "How many water balloons do we have left?" "About 50 I think. Why?" "Well because of Mr. Jell-O we lost our chance at the swim championship. Time for pay back." "Cool." "Let’s jet." As the sky grew darker with the night the park got filled with spectators. Nikolas and Lizzie arrived and went to a clearing in the park. Nikolas laid a blanket out and they sat down. "So…" Nikolas said. "So…What are we going to talk about?" Liz asked. "I have no idea. I’m too nervous to think." "Oh great, I thought I was the only one." "Your nervous? But why?" "Yes, because this is really, kinda, sorta my first date." "What? No way. But I thought you and Lucky had dated." "No, Lucky and I are friends and nothing more. Besides he’s been dating Emily for months Don’tcha know." "They talked to you about his cousin as well?" "No, I heard from Tim that rumor had it Lucky and Emily have been hot and heavy for years." Liz started to giggle. "What’s so funny?" "Well, I was just thinking about how Lucky and Emily are only dating because his cousin thinks there a couple but I think deep down it’s what they really wanted but hide it very well." "Really? That’s an interesting theory." "I think it is." Mechanically Liz moves closer to Nikolas. As a natural reaction Nikolas put his arm around Liz. There heads turned towards each other and both smiled nervously. Emily sat back down on the blanket. Lucky looked at her confused. "Em, everything okay?" he asked. ‘Other then the fact that I want to kiss you right now. Yeah everything peachy.’ She thought to herself. "Yeah, everything’s okay. I am kinda sorta worried…about…um..Sly. I’m worried about Sly." "Why?" "All alone in a city he doesn’t really know that well anymore. I mean he could’ve gotten lost on the docks." Lucky looked at her not buying her story. Lucky got up and moved over next to her and sat down. "Ready for the show?" He asked. "As Ready as I’ll ever be." Joe and Madeline walked over to a abandoned Bench and sat down. "So what is the point of tonight’s festivities?" Madeline asked. "Your kidding me right?" Joe replied. "No I’m not. I’m not from America, well I am. But, I’ve spent most of my life in Switzerland." "Well, today is the fourth of July, and it’s America’s birthday. The day we celebrate our independence from England." "Cool. So what else is there in America we don’t have in Switzerland?" "Well maybe you’ll find out later." " I can’t wait." Lark and KC walked to the fountain both carrying about twenty water balloons. "Now this is what teenage girls should be doing with there free time. Not hanging around the house with there brothers and there girlfriends." KC said. "Definitely better then the old folks. Shhhh. I think I hear someone." Lark and KC hide behind some bushes as Sly walks out in front of the fountain. He sits on the edge and just wait’s. The Sky lights up with Red’s, Blue’s, Green’s, Yellow’s, White’s, Purple’s and other colors. I don't know what he does to make you cry Joe looks away from the Sky and at Madeline. She looks up at him and there eyes lock. Madeline looks away nervously and then back at him again. Joe leans in and kisses Madeline. She returns the kiss. Chorus: With his arm around Liz’s shoulder he looks at the exploding colors in the night sky. He turns and looks back at Liz. He lifts her chin up and moves in closely and as he looks in her eyes Elizabeth kisses him. When you talk - does it seem like he's not Emily leans against Lucky. It feels perfect to her, it feels so right to him.. Lucky puts his arms around Emily and she doesn’t pull away. Emily leans her head against Lucky’s chest. Both look up at the sky and the show of colors before their eyes. (Chorus) Lark and KC came out from the bushes and started to throw the water balloons at Sly. As the first one missed and hit the fountain Sly jumped up and began tossing water from the fountain as he tried to get them back he got soaking wet after several of the balloons broke after contact with his body.
