Chapter 2: Liz stared at the crumpled form at her feet. Her mouth hung open in
shock. She dropped to her knees and checked for a pulse. She nearly collapsed in relief as
Lucky moaned and opened his eyes. "My stomach's killing me!" he gasped in pain,"Can you
get me to General Hospital?" "Sure Lucky," she said supporting his weight on ehr
shoulders and propelled him to his feet,"Just hang on." ************************************************************************* When they entered GH the first person to notice them was Lucky's
aunt Bobbie. She rushed up to them. Staring at Lucky who was nearly onconsious from the
pain she asked,"Liz waht happened to him?" "We were on the docks and he just collapsed!" Liz forced
herself not to become hysterical, nothing was going to happen to Lucky. "Get a stretcher!" Bobbie called, helping Liz support
Lucky. As they placed Lucky on the stretcher and started to wheel him away,
Liz tried to follow, but Bobbie stopped her. "Just wait here Liz. We'll just do some
tests to find out what's wrong and then you can see him." Liz nodded mutely as Lucky was wheeled through the swinging doors,
wheeled away from her. ********************************************************** The metal of the waiting room chairs felt cold throught her clothes
as Liz sat waiting. She shivered in dread. What was wrong with Lucky? Nohting could be seriously wrong, she wouldn't let it! They were
going to be together forever. This was just a flu. Yes, that was it, just the flu. Liz tried to convince herself of that but she knew it was
ridiculous. Flu didn't make you pass out like Lucky had. She tried to cling to that hope
as she saw Bobbie approaching. "Liz," she began gently, "Lucky's resting comfortably
right now. He really wants to see you." "Sure," Liz replied, getting to her feet shakily. "Do
you know what's wrong yet?" "We'll tell yuo the results when Luke and Laura arrive." "How do they know?" Liz thought of how thrilled Lucky
would be to see them. Despite forgiving them, he wouldn't want them their unless he chose
it. "We had to call them to get permission for the tests since
lUcky's under 18. Relax Liz, I'll take you to seee him." Liz followed Bobbie down the hall to the room they had put Lucky in.
SHe stuck her head in the door and saw that Lucky had his eyes shut. SHe moved as quietly as possible to the chair beside the bed and sat
down softly. If he was sleeping she didn't want to disturb him. "Sorry about this Liz," Lucky said startling her. "Lucky, I thought you were asleep." "Despite all this pain medication I'm still here. I want to be
around when they have the results." {Authors note: I know test results never come in that fast but for
lack of storyline they will in this story.} "Is it related to the cramps you were having earlier?" Liz
moved her chair closer to the bed. "I think so," Lucky replied wincing in pain as he rolled
on his side. "You should have got this checked out sooner Lucky." "I know Liz, but I thought it'd go away." "You think you're invisible, don't you Spencer?" Liz tried
to shrug off her worry. But her smile wavered. Lucky seemed to sense her thoughts,"It's going to be fine Liz,
nothing is going to be wrong with me. I'll be out of here in no time." As they clasped each others hands Luke and Laura burst into the
room. "What's going on Lucky?" Laura asked breathlessly,
"We were sitting at home and we got a phone call from Bobbie asking for premission to
run tests on you." "I don't know Mom. I got these horrible stomach cramps and next
thing you know I was passed out on the docks." "Do you know what's wrong yet?" Luke asked worriedly. "No dad, they were waiting for you guys before they tell us the
results." Liz looked back and forth from Lucky to his parents, "Maybe I
should leave." Lucky tightened his grip on her hand, "No Liz, please stay. I
want you here when they tell us the test results." She glanced at Luke and Laura but said,, "Okay, I'll
stay." Bobbie walked into the room, a grave expression on her face. "I'm glad you're all here," she said. "What is it Barbara?" Luke asked. "I'm afraid the news is not good." she said solemnly. |
