Chapter 1: Liz Webber strolled into Kelly's. Her shift began in 5 minutes. She
had been working double shifts for the past week to help out Lucky's father who had been
running the place since Ruby died. She tossed her coat over a hook and walked up to the
counter. "Elizabeth!" Luke exclaimed, "I'm so glad you're
here! Tables 3 and 4 need coffee refills but are weary of the pot I just brewed. WHy don't
people like coffee strong? ANyway, could you make a fresh pot?" "Sure Mr.Spencer," Liz replied, smiling. SHe walked behind
the counter and dumped the pot he had made earlier and refilled and started the machine. LAter, as her shift was finishing, she noticed Lucky enter the
diner. She became momentarily distracted by the sight of him. He was her boyfriend, the
love of her life. Despite the fawning over movie stars like Leonardo Dicaprio by the
general public, she couldn't imagine why, she had her own handsome man, and he was all
hers. She shook herself out of her trance and smiled as he walked up to
the counter, "Hello sir, may I help you?" "How 'bout a kiss. I hear the service is really great
here." Liz laughed,"Why not? But I must warn you, I have a boyfriend
and he's extremely jealous." "Smart guy, there are a lot of guys willing to snatch you in a
moment." Lucky leaned forward. "Nah, I don't think he's got anything to worry about." "NOT even from me?" Lucky sounded amused at her antics. "Well sir, you might be an exception, as long as you don't tell
my boyfriend." Lucky said, smiling, "I don't think he'll mind too much,"
and pulled her so close they were almost kissing. "You don't understand sir, Lance might come after you,"
Liz laughed at the expression on Lucky's face. "Lance huh?" Lucky grinned,"Well I'll have to risk
it." He pulled her back towards him and kissed her softly on the mouth. Liz started chuckling again, "NOrmally I don't kiss strangers,
but I must admit, you're a better kisser than Lance." Lucky burst out laughing again. "When do you get off
Elizabeth?" "As a matter of fact," she said glancing at the
clock,"You're in luck, my shift just ended." "Well, are you busy? I was wondering if you wanted to go to
that new movie opening up at the ciniplex?" "Well,"Liz started,"That history test is tomorrow but
I can study later, if I feel like studying at all." "You sure you wanna risk it?" Lucky was more concerned
about her grades then she was. She put her arms around his neck and said,"Let's see. Go to a
movie with my boyfriend or study for a history exam. Which one would I rather do?" "Fine, but we'll go to an earlier show so you can study
later." "Will you come over and help me study?" Liz asked and
grinned mischeviously. "In other words can I come over and distract you." Lucky
sounded amused. "Well, can you?" she grinned, kissing him lightly on the
lips. "Did you have to ask? Of course. Just like you knew I would
form the beginning." Lucky didn't sound to opposed to the idea though. Lucky and Liz called goodbye to his father and left Kelly's. They
walked hand in hand down the street,"I have an idea." Liz said,"Instead of
a movie let's go for a walk down by the docks." "Whatever you want," Lucky grinned,"I aim to
please." "I like the sound of that," Liz grinned,"While I have
you serving my every whim, how about another kiss." "It'll be a great sacrifice, but I'll have to live with
it." He leaned in and kissed her softly on the lips. It quickly became
more passionate and Liz felt her knees begin to buckle. Just as she thought standing would
be impossible Lucky pulled away. He wore a grimace of pain on his face. "What's wrong?" she asked, then added, only
half-kidding," I didn't know I was that bad a kisser." "It's not you Elizabeth," he assured her,"it's just
these stomach cramps I've been getting on and off lately." "HAve you seen a doctor yet?" Liz asked him, worried. "I considered it but they go away as quickly as they come, see
I'm already better." he shook off her concern with an air of nonchalance. "Well, if you're sure," she siad, still not fully
convinced. Lucky dragged her over to a bench and they sat cuddled up there for
teh next hour talking and kissing. As they stood up to go Liz was talking to Lucky about his upcoming
birthday,"What do you think we should do to celebrate your birthday? It's your
choice." "Lucky?" she turned around to face him when he didn't
answer. Lucky was sprawled on the ground, unconsious. |
