Chapter 14: Liz and Nickolas looked at her expectantly but there was no sorrow
on her face. Nik was about to ask ehr about Lucky but Liz said,"Just let me
wake Luke and Laura first." She shook them adn told htem Bobbie was here. "The transplant surgery was a success," Bobbie said
happily. Liz nearly fainted in relief. She turned and hugged Nik exuberently
then Luke Laura and even Lulu. She was barely listening to Bobbie,"He ahsn't rejected teh
pancreas or anyhting. He is still under anysthetic, but will wake up in about an hour. All
signs indicate everyhting is fine and the cancer hasn't spread to other organs." Everyone was ecstatic. Lis was about to go call Gram to tell ehr the
good news when she realized Gram was gone. It dampered ehr spirits. "I'm going to go call Father," Nickolas said," he
said to call when we found out how Lucky was going to be." Luke was so thrilled he didn't even bristle at the reference to
Stefan. "my baby's going to be okay!" Laura exclaimed, cring tears
of joy. Her husband embraced her. "Lucky's okay Liz?" Lulu asked, "Really and
truly?" "You bet sweetheart!" Liz said, sweeping Lulu up in her
arms,"Your big brother is going to be just fine!" The crowd decided to go to the cafeteria for a bite to eat while
they waited for Lucky to wake up. As they passed the chapel Liz told them she'd meet them down there,
she ahd somehting to do. She knelt before the crucifix at the front of the little hopital
chapel and prayed. "I feel compelled to thank you for letting lucky live God. I
wish the way he lived wasn;t so painful though. I'm sorry I doubted you when Lucky became
sick, it just hurt so much to think of living my life without him. I'm also here to pray
for Gram. Just to make sure you know, she led a great life. She was no saint, but she was
a good women." "Please accept Gram into heaven. Her death hurts but at least
Lucky now lives. It's like that saying about you,'Where ever God closes a door he opens a
window.' Look after teh spirit of my dead grandmother adn tell her I loved her." "I know we're not supposed to pray just when the going gets
tough, but thanks for granting all our prayers. It may have destroyed Lulu's faith if you
hadn't answered her prayers for Lucky. Again, thanks for you mercy." Liz crossd
herself. She stood up to go join lucky's family in the cafeteria. |
