Chapter 15: Searching for clues

Mac Scorpio did not want to do this. He did not want to go into the house and see
what kind of man Tom Baker really was.
It was 9am. He wanted to get this out of the way before he went to check the progress
of the officers dragging the river. Mac desperately hoped that they would come up
empty handed. He hoped Lucky wasn’t lying at the bottom of the river.
“Ready, comish?” Taggert asked as he got out of his car.
“Ready as I’ll ever be” Mac said and moved towards the front door.

They were both here to see if Tom had left any clues as to where he had gone. Mac
doubted they’d find anything, but he had to check.
The house seemed normal enough. It was a small two bedroom house in a nice,
residential neighborhood. It was sparsely decorated. The basics, with just a few
pictures here and there. They started with the living room and worked their way to
the back. Nothing turned up until they reached the small office off the back bedroom.
There was a book case that covered an entire wall. On it were various magazines,
books, and videos. They were of the typical variety, until you got to the top shelf.
On it were all sorts of pornographic memorabilia.
“What a sicko” Taggert said. He went to the other side, to the desk, while Mac
continued his inspection of the bookshelf.
The desk was in order. There was nothing incriminating on top of it. Taggert moved on
to the desk drawers. He turned up nothing until he got to the bottom one. It was
unlocked and inside was a shoe box. Taggert took it out and opened it to look through
the contents.
“Commissioner, take a look at this” he said.
Mac walked over to Taggert and began to take things out of the box.
“Oh my God” was all he said as he realized what the items were.

The first item he pulled out was a PC High yearbook. Two of its pages were
bookmarked, and Mac opened the book to the first one. It was the S part of the
student pictures. He looked over both pages until he came to a picture with an X
marked through it in red ink. Mac was not surprised to see that it was Lucky Spencer’
s picture.
“Lucky” Taggert said.
Mac just nodded. He moved on to the next bookmarked page, fearing what he would find.
It was the W part of the student pictures. A big red heart drew his attention and he
saw that the heart circled Elizabeth Webber’s picture.
“What was he doing?” Mac asked.
He set the yearbook aside and moved on to the rest of the items.
There was a newspaper clipping of the story of Tom’s arrest. There were also several
of the nude altered pictures of Emily and Nikolas.
“Cassadine?” Taggert asked. “I hadn’t realized Baker had doctored pictures of him”.
“Neither had I”.

The rest of the pictures were of Lucky and Liz at various places: the docks, Kelly’s,
school, Luke’s, the motorcycle shop. This guy had obviously taken the pictures
himself.
There were also pictures of them without the other: Lucky and Lulu at the Spencer’s,
Liz with Audrey outside of the hospital, Lucky and Nik at the docks, and Liz and
Emily outside the Quartermaine mansion.
What really frightened Mac was that in every one of the pictures, Lucky’s face was
crossed out.
“He must have stalked them” Taggert said. “I wonder for how long, and how they didn’t
notice”.
“I don’t know, Taggert, but I don’t like this”.
He reached into the box for the last item. Both Mac and Taggert gasped when they
realized what it was. It was a pair of ladie’s panties.
“Elizabeth’s?” Taggert asked.
“Probably..... This guy is really sick. What the hell was he doing?”
Mac put the stuff back and picked the box up.
“From these pictures, we gather that Tom was not very fond of Lucky. We have to find
him before Lucky’s hurt.”
“Hell, for all we know, he’s already dead” Taggert said.
“Don’t think like that, Taggert. We’re going to find him.”
Taggert saw the determination in his eyes and decided not to push.
“Are you going to show that to his parents?” Taggert said pointing at the box.
“I have to” Mac said, not wanting to show them at all.
