Prologue Lucky Spencer took one last look at the Spencer house. It was early morning and no one was awake as far as he knew. He studied the way the early morning sunlight hit the windows of the house. The paint still chipping, the swing moves with the wind. Lucky could feel the tears building in his eyes. He would miss his mother, he would truthfully miss his mother but most of all he would miss his little sister Lulu. She was only seven and would never understand why Lucky had to leave. As he turned to walk away the curtains to Lulu's room pulled back. Lucky caught sight of this and turned to look up at his little sister. Her face was filled with sadness, hurt and anger. She tried to open the window but couldn't. Lucky turned away and looked up at the morning sun. Then he turned back to his sister and waved good-bye. He then walked away, not looking back, not wanting to see his sisters tears. |
