Chapter 9 I guess things are going better than I thought they would." Nikolas said. "Yeah well that doesn't mean he's going to be happy with us." "I know." Nikolas looks up to see Lulu walk outside. "Are you guys going to stand there all day or are you going to come in?" "We'll be right there." Nikolas and Lark walk inside. Lucky and Luke walked in right when Nikolas and Lark walked in. "Nikolas can I see you a minute?" Lucky asked. "Yeah sure." Nikolas follows Lucky outside. Lucky stares at Nikolas a minute and tries to calm down. It wasn't working. "How could you!!" "Lucky, I wanted you to come home." "So you lied to me. You let me believe that he might not make it. Which is funny, because from what I saw he was perfectly fine." "I didn't completely lie. He was shot, but it was just a flesh wound." "But still you tell me he's dying!" "He might not be but you are! Mom, Luke and Lulu deserve to have this time with you!" "Your right Lulu deserves this, I've let her down. I wasn't here when she needed me but she's always known I was all right. I don't feel I owe my parents anything." "Damn it Lucky! They love you! We all love you." Lucky's jaw drops at Nikolas's comment. "Surprised aren't you? Your my brother damn it, even if you hope I rot in hell, I don't want you to die thinking none of us love you." "Nikolas, This was a lousy trick you used to get me here." "I know, but Lucky you can't just die and not try and make some kind of amends with them." Lucky begins to feel a pain in his head. Nikolas looks at Lucky and can see the pain he's trying to hide in his eyes. "Are you having another headache?" "Yeah, only because of you AGAIN!" He immediately regrets yelling and puts his hands to his head. "Lucky" "Leave me alone." Lucky storms off. "Lucky!" Lucky ignores him and Nikolas is left looking at Lucky's retreating back. ******* Luke watches the scene fold between the brothers and wonders what is going on. From the look on Lucky's face he isn't happy, and Nikolas is practically pleading with him. He notices the flash of pain Lucky is in. And he once again wonders as to the true reason Lucky came home. ******************** Lucky finds himself sitting alone on the docks. He still has a headache but not as bad as before. He can actually think with out hurting, but he's not sure thinking is what he wants to do. He wasn't ready to forgive his parents yet. Although, when he left Port Charles he knew he would miss his mother, and he did. He couldn't deal with her anymore, and he didn't know if he could now. She would never really listen to him, and when they did talk it usually turned in to her saying "Why can't you just let it go", "it doesn't concern you." and "Don't take it out on Nikolas." He couldn't take her constantly telling her how to feel. At least Luke never tried to tell him he was wrong. From the stairs, someone was watching Lucky, he could feel it. He turned around and saw a young woman. She was around his age, maybe a little taller, and had dark hair. She was standing there, she didn't move except open her mouth to speak but close it right away. Something about her was familiar, something Lucky just couldn't figure out. Finally she spoke, "I'm sorry if I'm freaking you out or anything, you just look like this guy I once knew. But chances are he'd never show up in Port Charles again." Lucky's jaw dropped. 'It couldn't be.' he thought. He smiled and let out a laugh. "I don't find that at all funny sir." "So Em, you thought I was never coming home." "Lucky, it is you." she paused, "Where the Hell have you been!?" Lucky jumped back at Emily's anger. "Um...around." "Around really?! Around would be actually being in Port Charles...not..not...Madagascar...or..or...Israel!" "Emily, calm down! Gees my parents didn't freak out like this!" he started to rub his forehead trying to relieve the pressure in his head. "Lucky, are you alright?" Emily goes from anger to concern when she sees Lucky rub his head. He looks up at her, "I'm fine it's nothing." "Spencer, that's not nothing. I know nothing when I see it." "How's that?" "I'm a nurse." "A nurse wow. That's really cool. Are you working at GH?" "No, Mercy. And don't try to change the subject. Do you get headaches often?" Lucky opened his mouth to lie, but found that he couldn't. "Yes, too often. They started to get worse when Nikolas found me in San Francisco, I never did leave the country you know?" Lucky smiled ruefully. "Oh that makes me feel so better. Did you get the headaches checked out?" "Yeah, I did." "And?" "And what? I got my head examined." "Lucky what did the doctors say?" Emily asks getting the impression that it is not something good. "Ya wanna know what they said?" Emily nodded. "They said that I only have a few months to live. That I'm dying. Look at me Em! I'm a dying man." A frown grew upon Emily's face, "You're what? You can't be?" "I am, Em. I only came back to town because Nikolas tricked me. He told me my father was dying, that he was shot. Now I learn it's all a crock." "Um..Lucky, it's not a crock. Luke was shot but it was just a flesh wound." "What? Wait so Nikolas only lied about it being critical?" "Apparently, but I bet I know why he did it." "Let me guess.... he loves me." "Yeah, Lucky he's missed you. When you left town, gosh no one could talk to him." "Yeah right Em." "Lucky, I'm telling the truth. Do me and everyone else including yourself get a second opinion. You don't have to go to GH. I can set up and appointment for you at Mercy. Please?" "I don't know Em, I think there are only so many times that I can hear the doctors tell me that I only have a few months to live." "Yeah, but Lucky what if they can tell you that you can be helped?" "I'll think about it Em. I'll let you know tomorrow ok?" "Yeah, ok. I am glad you came home." "Thanks, I need you to promise me something." "Yes?" "Don't tell my parents or Lulu. They don't know yet, and I am not sure when or if I am going to tell them. Nikolas and Lark know, but that is only because I passed out in front of Nikolas." "Lucky they deserve to know, and they can help you." "Emily just promise you won't say anything it's my life and my choice." "Ok Lucky." "Thanks Em, I'll call you tomorrow." With that Lucky turned and walked away. |
