Chapter 8

Lark stood at the door as the bellboy took the bags out to the elevator.

She turned to Nikolas and spoke, "I don't understand why you had to lie

to him."

Nikolas turned to her, "I knew it would be the only way to get him

home. If he thinks this is his last chance to rectify things with Luke

then, he'll take it. Besides, it COULD be his last chance anyway. He's

dying."

"I know he is honey, and we've promised to keep it a secret, but don't

you think he'll end up feeling this anger he has towards you more then

he already does?"

"That may be so but we have to take this chance."

"Nikolas, please tell him the truth."

"I can't not just yet."

"Don't you think he has enough to deal with, with out worrying about

his father."

"When he gets home, he'll see that Luke is ok and stop worrying."

"Yeah, and either he'll hate you or resent Luke more. You are playing

with fire."

"I am doing this for him, and he'll understand."

***************

Lucky looked at Nikolas as the walked off the plane in Port Charles.

Just looking at Lucky you could tell something was wrong. Yet you

couldn't tell if he was upset for fear of dying, or because he was upset

about what he thought had happened to his father. Nikolas led them to a

Imo that was waiting for them. As the Imo drove to their destination

Lark looked at both brothers, trying to read what was going on with

them.

"Has anyone heard how Luke is doing?" She asked seeing if Nikolas would

keep up the story.

"Better." He simply replied.

"Of course."

The Limo stopped and the door opened. Lark stepped out and Nikolas soon

followed.

Lucky stayed there for a moment composing himself. When he stepped out

he was surprised they weren't at the Hospital. Lucky looked at Nikolas

and Lark, while panic grew on his face.

"Where are they? What's happened." Lucky asks as he gets out of the car

and looks at the Spencer house.

"Nothing happened Lucky, I just thought you would like to put your stuff

down first."

Lucky relaxed, and decided to ignore the fact that he was not planning

on staying here. His curiosity got the better of him and after four

years he walked up the sidewalk to his house.

"Don't you think you should tell him now…he's home." Lark asked her

husband in a whisper.

"No, he'll find out for himself." He whispered back.

Lu watched as the Limo pulled up to the house. Nikolas was home. She

watched as the limo doors opened and three people got out. She looked at

this stranger with Lark and Nikolas. She was studying the way he held

himself around Lark and Nikolas, as he turned to the house he tensed a

bit. It was then that Lulu realized who was with them. Lulu left her

room and went to the top of the stairs, she knew she couldn't just run

down to see him. Luke and Laura sat in the living room looking through a

photo album of pictures of Lucky. The front door opened and Luke and

Laura both stood up, Lucky walked in and when Luke saw his face he knew

who it was.

"Lucky?" he whispered only loud enough for Laura to hear. Lucky turned

and saw them, shocked to see his father standing in the living room.

Lucky was able to hide his surprise when Lulu ran down the stairs.

"Lucky!" Lu ran into Lucky's arms like she did when he was little. "I

missed you, Lu." Tears rolled silently down Lu's eyes, Lucky was

home. Lucky released Lu and stared at his parents. No one said

anything. Finally, Laura walked over to Lucky and pulled him into his

arms. Lucky allowed his mother to hold him. "I missed you so much

Lucky." "I missed you too mom." By saying this he realized how true

it was.

Laura pulled away and stepped back to stand by Luke. Luke looked at his son.

"Cowboy."

"Dad."

"We...we...missed you."

"I know Dad. Can we talk, alone."

Luke nods and he and Lucky go to the back yard. Lucky looked at his father,

and sighed as he ran his hands through his hair.

"Why didn't you look for me?"

"What!? We did look for you, you've surpassed your mother and I. How can we

find you when your far better at this then I ever was?"

"The fact that I was going by my own name these last 6th months."

"I never would have guessed that, go by who you really are. Why'd you come

back, why now, why not ten years from now."

"I...I...I couldn't be away from Lulu anymore, and I couldn't be away from my

family."

"Lucky don't you know we did look. We were devastated when you left. Lulu

cried, your mother cried, Nikolas cried, I cried! We loved you and we still

do. Your staying aren't you?"

"We'll see."

Lucky walked back into the house leaving Luke alone in the back year.
