Chapter 7

Lucky stared at the computer screen lost in his own thoughts. He knew that

his sister was expecting an email from him today. Out of all the emails he

had ever written her this one is the hardest. Lucky couldn't focus on

anything his thoughts were confused. He was going to die, and there was

nothing the doctors could do. An email to Lulu didn't seem like enough

anymore, but he didn't want to go home. He didn't want Lulu to watch him die.

And then there was his father, who Lulu didn't mention at all, was he ok?

When he left Luke and Lucky had not made amends, but despite everything he

still loved Luke and didn't want him to die. It was however, strange that

Lulu didn't mention it.

After sitting there for what seemed like forever, Lucky began to type.

It started out as the simple normal weekly letter.

Dear Lulu,

How is life with Mom and Dad? I miss you ever so much, and I wish I

could be there to see you. I love you Lulu, never forget that. You’re the best

little sister anyone could ever hope for. Be a good girl.

Love,

Lucky.

He could feel the tears welling in his eyes. He knew he needed to go

home, he had to see Lulu again, and he had to see his parents. Make everything

right with them before he, before he died.

Nikolas couldn't believe how his life had changed by chance. It was just

a coincidence that he had even seen Lucky in that elevator. For four years

they had searched for him and to just find him with out trying was too weird.

And now Lucky was dying. It was almost as if God was giving him a second

chance with his brother. Hopefully, he could convince Lucky to go home. His

parents and sister needed to see him. Although, Nikolas was feeling guilty

about lying to Lucky about Luke. Lucky would be furious if he found out that

Nikolas was lying. But at least he would have gone home, and that was the

most important thing.

***********

Lucky was clicked to send the message. As he closed the laptop he looked

up and saw Nikolas in the door jam.

"What are you doing here Cassadine?"

"Lucky, Your my brother I care about you is that so hard for you to

understand?"

"Just leave! I don't need you I don't need anyone!"

"If you have this attitude about it all then I will call mom. I'll call

her and tell her, that your here in San Francisco dying! Is that what you

want?"

"What the hell do you want me to do?"

"Come home with me and Lark, please Lucky."

Lucky sighed. He didn't really want to go home, but he knew that he would

regret it if he never got to say good bye to Lulu. He didn't want Nikolas to

be the one to tell his parents. If anyone was going to do that it would be

him.

"Ok." Lucky whispered. Nikolas was surprised he hadn't expected Lucky to

give in that easily.

"But on one condition. Do not tell anyone anything. It is my decision who

gets told what and how. Mom doesn't need to be worried about me with Dad

getting shot."

Nikolas felt a pang of guilt that he was lying to Lucky, but quickly

covered it. "Ok, Lucky I'll agree to your terms."

***********

A few day's later Lucky is in his apartment packing. Samantha walks in and

looks at him.

"Lucky, what the hell is going on?"

"I'm, I'm going home Sam."

"WHAT?!" she felt her world crashing, how could he leave like this? didn't

he knows how much she cared for him.

"I'm going home. I have to, I have to make things right, before I die, and

before my father dies."

"What's wrong with your father? Why do you suddenly care?"

"He was shot, and I've always cared. I've, I've just been an arrogant jackass."

"You can't go! You hate them remember?!"

"It's my last chance Sam. Please try and understand."

"Lucky, please stay."

"I can't, I have to do this."

"Lucky, then take me with you. That way you won't have to deal with them

alone."

"Sam, my family, is, well there not normal. By any means. I know you could

handle it but If I don't make it back here I don't want you to see me the way

that I'll be. Do you understand."

"I refuse to take no for an answer."

"You’re going to have to Sam!"

'Lucky you are all I have. If you go I will be all alone."

"Sam I am dying. I need to go home. I have to see my little sister. I

haven't seen her since she was 7. She has grown up so much. Please

understand. You have been like a sister to me, I don't want to go away with

you mad at me."

'Sister' those words cut at her like a knife. She has been in love with

Lucky since he moved to San Francisco."

"Lucky I don't want to lose you."

"You won't lose me, lose me. I'll always be in your heart." He hugged her and

pulled away. "Please understand, I need to let my sister know how much I

really love her."

"Promise me, that if you can, you'll come back."

"I'll...I'll...try."

"Thanks." her eyes were filling with tears, she got up and ran out of the

apartment. When she arrived in her apartment she closed the door and leaned up against

it allowing her tears to flow freely. "If only he knew how much I love him."
