Chapter 6

Nikolas went back into the waiting room and found Samantha sitting where he had been. He took another seat across from her and looked at her. Trying to read what she was thinking, and feeling. All he could tell was she was definitely worried about Lucky, didn't like him, and was absolutely horrified with worry over her friend.

"How close are you and Lucky?" Nikolas asked suddenly.

Samantha looked up at him and glared, "Why would you care? What are you doing here anyway?"

"He's my brother, I care about him and I'm worried,"

"Sure, whatever."

"Who do you think you are?"

"I'm his best-friend!"

"Well I'm his Brother!"

"Since when. Since you finally decided to find him. You know he said that there were probably people looking for him. He actually got sick of running. That is why he went back to his own name. That and so he could go to school. He was surprised when no one found him, he figured that your mother and his father had stopped caring."

"You know absolutely nothing about me. Lucky never looked past my last name to get to try to know me."

"Did you look past his last name. To you he was just Spencer. The one that got to grow up with your mom."

"Yeah he grew up with our mother, but we both had her love, and we both have the love of our little sister. Luke and Laura WERE looking for Lucky and still are. Luke taught Lucky how to survive out here."

The doctor came out and stared at Nikolas and Samantha for a moment.

"Who here is related to Mr. Spencer?"

"I am, I'm his brother. What is it Doctor?"

"Well Mr..?"

"Cassadine, Nikolas Cassadine. How is my brother?"

"Well sir, your brother, has a brain tumor. he's awake now and we've talked to him about this. From what we know now it doesn't look like he has much time."

Nikolas listened to what the Doctor was saying. He had only just really found Lucky and now he was losing him, losing him before he could connect with him.

"Is there anything you can do Doctor?"

"No, the tumor is too big for operation, and radiation won't work."

Nikolas stood there for a second in stunned silence.

"Can I see him?"

"Yes of course."

The doctor leads Nikolas to Lucky's room. Nikolas walks in and Lucky looks up. the look on his face is shock and disappointment.

"What are you doing here Cassadine?"

"I wanted to make sure you’re alright."

"Sure you did, this is all your fault."

Nikolas looked at Lucky and sighed, "How is this my fault Spencer?"

"You...you...irritated me to the point that I developed a tumor."

"Spencer, be real, this has nothing to do with me."

"Well of course not it has to do with me."

"I take it your coming home now?"

"What? No way!" Lucky didn't want to have Lulu watch him die. Nikolas thought about it for a second and tried to find a way to convince Lucky to go home.

"Lulu misses you Lucky, and if you don't come home now, when are you going to get another chance?"

"Don't use Lulu against me Nikolas, it won't work."

"Well then I'll just have to pull Mom away from Luke's bedside and bring her here."

"What?!"

"Oh, that's right you didn't know Luke was shot."

"Is he ok?" Lucky asked concerned. Despite the fact that when he left four years ago Lucky and Luke had not mended their relationship, Lucky didn't want him to die.

"They don't know if he is going to make it."

"Oh my God." Lucky murmured to himself. He looked up at the door and saw Samantha standing there. "Sam!"

"Lucky, how are you? Do you need anything?"

"Sam, I need my computer can you bring it to me?"

"I'll try."

Nikolas looked at them both and spoke up, "Lucky are you coming home?"

Lucky ignored Nikolas for a moment and spoke to Samantha, "it's Friday I need to send that very important e-mail. So please try your hardest to bring it."

"Spencer, don't worry I will, okay."

"Great." Lucky turned his head to face Nikolas. "I refuse to let Lulu see me like this."

"But don't you think that Mom and Luke have a right to see you before you die? They love you Lucky, you learned how to survive like this because of them."

"So what? What did it ever do for me?"

"It kept you alive for a long time hasn't it. Please come home."

"Let me think about it."

"You don't have to come home to die, but please come home so your family can be with you one last time." Nikolas pleaded feeling this was his only chance.

"Nikolas, lay off you've said your piece."

"I will, just think about what I said." Nikolas didn't want to leave him. So he decided to change the subject.

"What was that about with Samantha?"

"It's really none of your business. So if you wouldn't mind I would like to be alone."

"Sure Lucky, I'll see you later, ok?"

"What ever." With that Nikolas turned around and left leaving Lucky alone in his room to think about everything that had happened today.
