Chapter 4
Lark walked into the elevator and noticed Lucky take the pill. It looked like he didn't want her to know, but she wanted to make sure he was ok. "Hey Lucky are you feeling ok?' "Yeah, I am fine." "Are you sure, you look really pale." "Yeah, I am just tired. With the classes and work it gets kind of hectic." The door of the elevator opened and Lucky walked right out thankful to get away from Lark's prying eyes.
Lark walked into the Hotel room looking concerned. Nikolas was sitting on the couch reading the paper. "Lark what's wrong?" "I just saw Lucky in the elevator. He was popping some pills." "What? What kind of pills?" "Nikolas, I don't know. They looked like Tylenol or Excedrin. It looked like he had a headache." "So he had a headache big deal. Talking to him gave me one too." "Yeah, but he didn't look to good. He was really pale." Nikolas thought for a moment before he said. "I hope he's alright." "I'm sure he is." Nikolas walked to the window and saw Lucky outside on the sidewalk. He was rubbing his head trying to relieve the pain. Lark looked at her husband and could tell he was worried. She walked over to him and put her arms around him. "He'll come around. I'm sure of it." "How can you be?" "Because you guys love each other even if you won't admit it." "What makes you say that?" "They way you guys are around each other." "What do you mean the way we are around each other. You mean how we are always fighting. How Lucky is so cold and distant. I really don't think he cares all that much. If he did he wouldn't of left four years ago." "Nikolas, maybe he didn't think he had a choice." "He could have stayed." "What if it was slowly killing him. It's hard to stay some where that there are too many painful memories. I think maybe the bad was out weighing the good in his life." Nikolas looked at Lark. It was moments like these that made him love her more. "I guess you could be right. Lucky could have felt that there was too much pain then joy. There were times when I felt that way myself. I just wish I could talk to him like brothers are suppose to be able to. You know what I mean, the way Joe and Frank communicate." Lark smiled and shook her head. "Nikolas, it's not to late for that to happen. Maybe you both needed to grow, and mature. Maybe he needed this time away from his family to understand exactly how much he needed them. Maybe you needed this time with your family to understand exactly how much they need you." |
