Chapter 12

Lucky was pacing around his room trying to think about anything else but the tests. He hoped that they would be different, but he didn't want to get his hopes up. His needed something to get his mind off everything. So he decided to call Sam.

He picked up the phone and dialed the number from memory. The phone rang over and over again. He was about to hang up when he got a breathless reply.

"Hello?"

"Sam, hi it's Lucky." Sam's heart fluttered when she heard Lucky's voice.

"Hey, how's everything going."

"It's going. One of my friends convinced me to get a second opinion.

So I am waiting for the results."

"I'm surprised you told them."

"Well, she's a nurse now and she knew something was going on when she saw me on the docks."

"Oh. So when do you get the results?"

"In a few days. I'm sure they'll say the same thing the doctors in San

Francisco said."

"Lucky!"

"Sam, I'm dying I have to deal with that, and so do you and Nikolas."

"Your going to be fine, I refuse to think your dying."

"But I am Sam."

"Lucky why can't you just accept the fact that maybe the tests were wrong in San Francisco?"

"Because Sam, what if I go into the doctor's office expecting to hear that I am going to live, only to hear that I am going to die again, I don't think I could take it."

"Lucky, I know you will be ok."

"Thanks, Sam, but we just have to face facts that I am not going to live forever. I have to go my sister is calling me." Actually Lulu wasn't even home, but Lucky didn't want to talk anymore about dying.

"Ok Lucky. I'll talk to you later."

"Bye."

Sam hang up the phone and sighed. 'Spencer, why can't you see that I love you? That there is no way I am letting you go through this without me.’

Emily was walking along the docks, as she was walking she saw Lark and Nikolas.

"Hi, how are you to?" Emily asked.

Lark looked up and smiled. "Emily Hi, I'm good and so is Nikolas. How are you?"

"I'm fine." She looks over at Nikolas and notices he's quieter then normal, "How's Lucky doing?" She asked hoping she'd get the truth.

"He's doing wonderfully, he's happy to be back home."

"That's bull and you and I both know it Nik."

"He's alright Em."

"Nikolas Cassadine, do you really think I'd buy that when I know he had tests done today?"

"You knew?" Lark asked puzzled.

"Yeah, I set it up for him at Mercy. SO any chance for the truth Nik?"

"I don't know how he's really doing."

Lucky got off the phone with Sam sighed. He decided that he really needed something to eat. Although, his stomach was in knots from waiting for the test results. He went down into the kitchen, hoping that Laura wasn't around. Unfortunately, when he walked into the kitchen she was in there fixing lunch for herself.

"Hey Lucky, I wasn't sure you were ever getting up this morning."

"Yeah well, I was really tired."

"It's ok. I've been meaning to talk to you."

"Not now, Mom."

"Lucky, if not now, when?"

"Never?" Lucky replied sarcastically.

"Lucky, we have to talk about this."

"About what mom?"

"About how you vanished with out a trace four years ago? With out a word to anyone."

"What do you want from me mom? I was suffocating. I couldn't deal with everything."

"I know things were bad with your father, but still..."

"Mom, they weren't just bad between Dad and I, they were bad between us too. Or did you forget that?"

"What did I do that was so wrong?"

"How about all the lies? How about the fact that when ever we talked it always became about Nikolas? How about the fact that when I wanted you, you weren't there."

"Lucky, I have always been there for you."

"No Mom, that's NOT true! Where were you, all those months? Huh? You were in South Carolina, and then you come back but why? Because I needed you?"

"Lucky, you know that's not the reason!"

Lucky can feel the pain in his head building. He closes his eyes to block out the light.

"Lucky, are you alright?"

"Leave me ALONE!" he cried as he stormed out of the room. Laura followed.

"Your my Son, I love you and something's wrong."

"Nothing's wrong Mom, in fact in a few months everything will be alright." he stormed up the stairs and ran to his room.
