Chapter 11

Lucky walked through the doors of Mercy hospital. The cold sterile walls, in some way comforted him. Someone tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around, and saw Emily.

"Hey, I'm glad you didn't back out."

"Well, if I didn't then I'd keep getting pestered about it. Not only from you."

"Nikolas?"

"Yes him. I don't know why he keeps doing it though."

"He loves you. You’re his brother and he's yours."

"He's my half brother, my mothers other son."

"Lucky...."

''I just want to get these tests over with."

"Fine, Dr. Larson said she'll see you. She's down the hall and to the left, can't miss her."

"Thanks. I really mean that." Emily gave him a reassuring smile and watched Lucky walk away. She really hoped that it was good news, she didn’t think Lucky could handle any more bad news.

She didn’t know if she could handle it.

Laura was watching Lulu play with her dinner. She knew something was on her mind. "Lulu, sweetie, what’s wrong?"

"Mom, why did Lucky come home?" Laura was surprised at the question.

"I thought you were happy that he came home."

"I am, but every time I talked to him he never even hinted at the fact that he was coming home."

"Lulu when did you talk to him?"

Lulu looked up at her mother, "Well, We didn't exactly talk. We...we wrote to each other through e-mail."

"You've been in contact with Lucky all this time and you never told us? Why?"

"Because" looks down at her food, "I thought if I told you Lucky would never come back at all."

"Honey, you didn't have to keep this a secret."

"Mommy, you won't tell Lucky I told you will you? I don't want him to be mad at me."

"Lulu, I won't tell Lucky, at least not now. Besides I don't see how he could ever be mad at you. You’re his little sister and he loves you. He proved that by keeping in touch with you."

Laura feels the tears in her eyes, "I'll be right back." she rises and goes into the Kitchen and tries to hold back her tears.

"What happened Lucky, to make you leave. I know you and your father had problems, but I never realized that you would leave Port Charles. I guess I was blind to our own problems. I am glad you came home, but why did you only keep in touch with Lulu. We all missed you." Laura spoke out loud to Lucky who wasn’t even there. "I hope you let us help you now, because I know something is off."

Luke lit a cigar and waited for Nikolas to get off the launch from Spook Island. He knew Nikolas knew more about Lucky’s return, than he is willing to let on. Luke wanted answers, and he wanted them now. He couldn’t get the look of pain from Lucky out of his head. Luke and Nikolas had managed to become civil to each other for Laura and Lulu’s sake. That did not however, mean they were the best of friends. Luke did see how much Nikolas had wanted Lucky in his life though. So hopefully Nikolas was helping him. However, it still grated on his nerves that Lucky would except help from a Cassadine, even if that Cassadine was his brother.
