Chapter 1 Four years later, Nikolas Cassadine walked into the San Francisco hotel. He looked around the lobby taking in the style. As he walked up to the front desk he walked right into the bellboy. Nikolas didn't look at him. They both mutter "sorry" at the same time. Nikolas registered and the clerk rang for the bellboy. The boy had taken the bags and walked over to the elevator. Nikolas was right behind. As they took the elevator ride up the top bag that had hidden the bellboys face fell. "I am so sorry." He said. The voice had a hint of familiarity that Nikolas hadn't heard in years. He looked at the bellboy and when he saw his face he knew who it was. "Lucky?" He said in an almost whisper.
For four years Lucky had been running. Running from his past and the secrets. His family and his own. He had taken odd job after odd job just to get by. Lulu was the only one who had a clue as to where he was. It was a promise he had kept to Lulu and himself. He was now paying his way through school and in order to do that he was working at a bellboy. Now it looked like by chance meeting that all came to an end. He would have to move. "Nikolas." Nikolas could not believe what was going on. Lucky was standing here in the elevator. He was the bellboy. He could not believe this. "What...what are you doing here?" he asked. Lucky looked at him in silence. "Everyone has been looking for you!" "Well they obviously haven't been looking all that hard. I have been going under Lucas Spencer for about a year now." Nikolas was shocked that they had missed the obvious name. After three years and rarely any leads they had practically given up. Nikolas had even used his Cassadine connections to try to find him, and nothing. "You know Spencer, we figured you were smart enough NOT to go by your real name." Nikolas paced back and fourth in the elevator. The light caught his wedding band and Lucky looked at him curious. "Who did you marry?" Nikolas looked up at him surprised. "I don't think you know her. Her name is Lark Madison-Cassadine." "Youre right, I don't know her." "Lucky, will you quit it with the attitude." Ignoring Nikolas's order. "What are you doing here anyway?" "I am on a business trip. Lark is meeting me here tomorrow." Before Nikolas could say anything else the elevator stopped at the penthouse floor. Lucky and Nikolas got out. Despite the fact that it was his job it really grated on his nerves to have to cart Prince Nikolas's belongings. Lucky opened the door to the room carted his stuff in and turned around and started to leave not even bothering waiting for the tip. Right when Lucky was about to walk out the door Nikolas grabbed his arm. "After four years you're just going to leave with out saying anything." "Look Nikolas, we weren't exactly close when we left. I don't know what you expect from me." "I expect you to care. If not about me then maybe about Leslie Lu and your mother." "How are they?" "They're good. They miss you." "How is Lulu really?" "She's as good as any 11 year old can be when she waits by the mailbox every month for something from her older brother." "You know?" "Lulu told me. She misses you so much. When Lark and I stop by, I've found Lulu sitting on the steps waiting for you to come back." Lucky looked at Nikolas, he shook his head and turned and left. |
