Chapter 1: And so it begins.

It was a beautiful February evening. The ground was covered with fresh snow, and the stars were shinning brightly in the sky. The full moon was out so bright, that no lights were needed to illuminate the ground below.

Lucky and Elizabeth walked hand in hand through the park, to the spot where both of their lives had been changed forever. It was Valentine’s day, the one year anniversary of Liz’s rape. Lucky had given her an unforgettable evening, but she needed to come here and finally put it all behind her. She needed to stare at the place and not feel the overwhelming fear that had become so familiar for her. Lucky was with her, as he always had been, to help her through it. She couldn't’t imagine what she would do without him. He was her everything, her better half.

"Elizabeth, are you sure you want to do this?" Lucky asked, concerned.

"I have to do this Lucky, I need break the control he still has over me" she replied.

Elizabeth slowly sat down on the bench and put her hands flat on its cold surface. She willingly let the memories flood back to her. The cold biting wind, the strong hand over her mouth, the feeling that she was flying, everything came to her. She relived it and let it go, knowing that she was finally free.

She was about to open her eyes, when she felt a hand over her mouth. She opened them, and saw Lucky lying on the ground in front of her, unmoving. She tried to grab on to the bench, but he was too strong. She felt herself being pulled back and there was nothing she could do to stop it.

Suddenly, the man let her go, and she fell hard on the ground. She looked up to see Lucky fighting with her assailant. She was even more shocked to see that it was Tom Baker.

"Elizabeth, run!" she heard Lucky say, as the two continued to struggle.

She didn’t want to leave, but she knew that there was nothing, other than to go and get help, that she could do.

She took one last look at Lucky and took off in search of a police officer.

Lucky had been looking up at the sky, giving Liz privacy, when he felt someone push him. He tried to brace himself, but he fell hard, and was disoriented for a short while. When he came to, he saw Tom Baker trying to drag Liz back into the bushes. With complete disregard to his safety, he charged Tom. He saw Liz hitting the ground and yelled at her to run. He was relieved when she did. He hoped that she could get help.

Tom, however, was too strong for him and he could feel his body taking a beating. He felt a couple of his blows connect, so he knew that he was doing some damage. One look at Tom’s face, though, told Lucky that the only thing he was succeeding in was making Tom angry. The last thing he saw before the world went black was the despicable leer on Tom Baker’s face.
