CHAPTER THIRTY
PART A

“Emily, get out of here.”
“No, Liz – what’s going on?”
Liz walked past Emily and went up to Audrey.
“Gram, it’s me, Liz.  Are you okay?  Did he hurt you?”
“I’m alright darling --”
“Lizzie you should know who he is… I have to tell you.”  Sarah said.
“Shut up!” the man spoke, “I said that no one tells her, but me, remember?!” he yelled hitting Sarah.
“Don’t touch her!”  It’s me you want, let them go.”
He held her cheek in his hand, “I would never hurt you.”
“Then let then go.” She said.
He pushed Audrey and Sarah away and grabbed Liz.
“We’re not done yet.  I’m not through with you.” He whispered in her ear.
Trying to control her fear, Liz said to Emily, “Take gram and Sarah back home, K?   Make sure they’re safe.”  Through the message, she tried to tell Emily to get Lucky.
"You’re little friend isn’t going anywhere.  She’s coming with us; I don’t want your boyfriend to come get you… I don’t want to share you.”
“Get over here!” he yelled to Emily, changing from his soft voice. Emily slowly walked over.
“Get in the car, both of you…” he told the girls, but they didn’t move.
“Now… or someone dies!!!” he pulled out a gun.  Emily and Liz scrambled and ran to the car.  As they reached it, they heard a gunshot and Liz broke down.
“Oh… oh, G*d, no… no, please… gram, Sarah….”  She started to cry.  Emily caught her friend’s fall and slowly brought her in the car.
Resting Liz’s head on her lap, the man came in and started the car.

Jason heard the gunshot and ran from where he was,
“Emily!  Emily!” he called, but only saw two bodies.  He bent down and realized who it was.
“Sarah?”
“Jason?  Oh… Oh Jason, it’s you.  My grandmother, is she all right?
Where is she?  Where is she?”
“She’d right here, right here.” He said helping Sarah stand.
“Oh god… the gun… Gram….”
“She’s okay, don’t worry.  Just in shock.”
“What are you doing here?” she asked Jason.
“I was here with Emily.”
“Oh… oh, Emily,” she said in a moaning voice, “He has them.  Both of them.”
“Emily?”
“And Lizzie.  He took Emily and Lizzie.”
“Okay, okay…” he said helping Audrey up, “We’re gonna go get Lucky and Nikolas.  They’ll know.”
“Liz and Emily will be fine Sarah.”
“But you don’t know who they’re with.”

Nikolas turned on the light when he saw Liz’s empty bed.
“Lucky, where’s Elizabeth?”
“What do you mean where is she?  She’s here sleeping.  Can you turn off the light?”
“Lucky, she’s not here.”
Lucky immediately sat up.
“No… no, no, no.  Okay, check the house.  Outside, inside, the balcony… she likes it there.”
Nikolas stood to leave, but Lucky said, “Wait… forget it.”
“What?  What is it?”
“It’s a letter, from Elizabeth.”
Suddenly there was a knock on the door and as quick as Lucky woke up, he ran to the door,
“Elizabeth?  Jason!… Sarah?”
“Is it Liz?”
“He got her.” Lucky realized as Jason, Sarah and Audrey came in.
“And Emily.”
“Where?”  Lucky asked, “Tell me where.”
“Lucky, before you do anything, go anywhere, you have to know who he is.” Sarah said.
“Why does it matter?  If it touches Elizabeth, I’ll kill him.” Lucky said as Audrey was brought to Nikolas’ room to rest.
“See that’s just the thing, we thought he was dead….”

CHAPTER THIRTY
PART B

“There was a time when my parents were separated.  We lived with my mom because dad wanted to pursue his doctor career abroad.  Mom met this man… His name… It was Danny.  Yeah, we called him Danny Boy.  He was okay, I mean, the all around average nice guy.  Mom rushed into a marriage and we moved to Colorado.  I was 16, Liz was 14.  We didn’t know he had a son though, til after the wedding.  I don’t think we were supposed to.” Sarah said.
“So we all lived together in the same house, and it got bad.  Danny’s son, Chris, he was so infatuated with Elizabeth.”
“Did he hurt her?” Lucky asked.
“She never told me… all I know is that, there were nights when Liz would come to my room and stay with me.”
Lucky’s face turned angry, ready to kill.
“Then one day there was a fire and Liz and him were trapped in it.  He ended up dying in the fire and my mom found out about Chris’ obsession
and divorced Danny.  Dad came to see Liz in the hospital and mom and he got back together.”
“So are you saying what I think you’re saying?  Sarah?”
“Chris is in love with Elizabeth that he’d do anything to get her.  He is very much alive, and he was the one who took me and grams.
He’s the one who has Elizabeth right now……”

“You have to some sort of a bad dream.  Please go away.   You can’t be alive, you can’t.  You died in the fire!”   Liz yelled.
Chris pulled Liz and forced her in his arms, “I’m just as alive as you are.”
“Liz looked away, struggling to stay out of his arms, but he wouldn’t let her.
“Why won’t you look at my face Liz?  Can’t stand to stare at my scars?   My disfigured face?!  Well, sorry, I’m not like your Spencer boyfriends, although he can be more like me.  I set fire to the little cottage that you ran off to with your boyfriend.  I thought you died, why did you make me think you died!!!!”
Elizabeth couldn’t speak, she was paralyzed with fear.  She suddenly realized something,
“It was you.  You shot me and Lucky, didn’t you.  You took gram and Sarah and made them scared, and then you killed them…. Oh… oh.... G*d… no…it was you.  It was you!  You did it, didn’t you?  It was you!!!”
Chris held on to her tighter,
“You were the one who raped me.  On Valentine’s Day, it was you!”

“Sarah stay here with Audrey.  If you sense at least one bit of danger,  you take her and get out of here.  My dad will come for you soon.” Lucky told Sarah.
Suddenly Nikolas’ cell phone rang,
“Hello?  Jason?  Yeah… okay, Lucky has it ready, okay, bye.”
Nikolas turned to Lucky and Jason, “That was Jason Morgan.  Chris’ profile is faxing its way over and they are on their way.”
“We can’t wait for dad to get here, we have to go now.”
“I agree.” Jason said.
“You know how to get there right?” Sarah asked.
“Yes, c’mon.” Lucky and Jason left.
“Nikolas.” Sarah caught his arm, “be careful.” She said and kissed him softly.
“I love you.” She said as he disappeared.

CHAPTER THIRTY
PART C

“Elizabeth what are you talking about?”
“You shot at me.  Kidnapped me, I wouldn’t be surprised.  Emily… where is she?  Where is she, what did you do to her?  Let go of me!”
“Or what Liz, you’ll set this place on fire like you did last time?
Emily is fine, and I did not rape you.  Believe what you want, but I didn’t.   I wouldn’t hurt you like that.”
Liz’s heart sank, “But all those years ago when you would come to my room and you wouldn’t stop -- ” she stopped as Chris pulled her out of the room.
“Let go, please Chris, let go of me.  Let Emily go.”
“I’ll let Emily go… only if you promise that you’ll be mine forever. Heart…” he cupped her breast in his hand,
“Mind, Soul…” he held her tighter, “And Body….” He kissed her lips.
“Elizabeth!” called a voice.
Liz pushed Chris away, “Emily?  Chris, let her out.”
“Fine, there’s someplace we have to be anyway.”

30 minutes later, Lucky, Nikolas and Jason stood outside an old warehouse.  A note was posted on the door.
“Go to Eagle Eye Cliff to choose your destiny.” It read with a map.
“This guy is sick.”
“And Liz and Em are with him.” Nikolas reminded Lucky.
They hiked up to the cliff and saw Liz, Chris and Emily.
“Elizabeth!” Lucky ran but saw how close they were to the edge.
Nikolas and Jason came up behind him.
“Well, well, looks like we have a party.  Perfect.  Now Spencer, everyone can watch you choose your destiny.  You can have A: a life with a brother, a best friend, a mother, a father, a baby sister… and new friend and they’ll all love and care for you, but you won’t have the love of your life.  The lie that Elizabeth is dead will come true.  Or B: Life with Elizabeth, but having everyone else hates you because your best friend Emily is dead.  Nikolas won’t even stand to look at you, since the girl he loves died at your hands.  So choose.  You love for Nikolas’ love, or his for yours….”

CHAPTER THIRTY ONE

“You’re sick.” Lucky said.
“And I have both your girlfriend and your best friend in my arms, on a cliff.   You should do what I say.”
“Lucky --” Elizabeth started,
“I am not going to choose between Elizabeth and Emily!” Lucky yelled.
“I’ll make it easier for you, “ he hissed, “No matter who you choose,
Elizabeth and I will be together.”  Chris said tightening his grip on Elizabeth.   Lucky say that, and he saw the fear rise in Liz’s eyes.
“I love you.” he mouthed to her.  Tears filled his eyes as he began to panic, he didn’t know what do to.
“Time is running out Spencer.” Chris taunted.
“Let them go.  You don’t want to hurt them.  Not Elizabeth.  You don’t want to do that to her.” Jason said.
“I know what I want.  I want Elizabeth.” he said trailing his tongue down her neck.  Tears fell down Elizabeth’s eyes, as Lucky’s anger rised.   He plunged forward but Nikolas held him back before he could do anything to set Chris off.  Suddenly, Emily twisted out of his arms and kicked his leg.  He let go of both of them, and Emily went running to Jason.  Elizabeth started to run, but Chris recovered quickly and quickly grabbed her back,
“Lucky!” she screamed as he jumped off with her in his arms, disappearing off the edge.

The world around her slowly faded away as she felt her body smash on the ground.  It slid, and then she felt herself flying.  But something was pulling onto her as she held on.  She focused her sight and realized that she had hit a landing and was holding on to the edge.  Chris was below her holding onto her leg, wanting to pull her down with him, “Let go Lizzie, we have to be together, I have to be with you forever.” he told her.
Suddenly she saw from above her Nikolas and Lucky jump down.
“Lucky, Lucky!” she called in relief as he grabbed her hand.
“No!  You will not have her!” Chris yelled, pulling out a knife.  He climbed up Liz legs and attempted to stab Lucky, but he missed and stabbed Elizabeth at the side.  She screamed, but Lucky soothed her, “Elizabeth, honey, don’t think of it.  Look at me, look at me, come one.”  She held on to him so tight, trying to forget about the pain.
But Chris hands were crawling up her dress.  His hands roamed everywhere, and she screamed for him to stop.  Lucky and Nikolas tried desperately to bring Elizabeth back up.  She felt faint, and knew that she wouldn’t make it, “I love you.   Lucky, I love you....”
“I love you too, and when we get you up, I’ll show you.  I’ll take you to a fancy place and Elizabeth.... Elizabeth, look at me.”
The blood from her wound was now trailing down her leg.  Chris tried to hold on, but the blood made him lose grip.  He held on and pulled tighter, which only caused the wound to deepen.  Liz cried out in pain as Chris lost his grip and fell.  Lucky immediately brought Liz to safety with Nikolas’ help and wrapped her in his arms.
“You’re okay sweetie, you’re safe.” he told her softly.

~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~

Emily lifted her head from Jason’s shoulder to her a car pull up.
Out stepped Luke and V.
“Where’s Lucky?  And Elizabeth?  Are they okay, did they... did they fall?”
“See for yourself.” He said looking past her.  She turned around to see Nikolas beside Lucky who had Elizabeth in his arms.  She ran up to meet them with Jason still holding her hand,
“Are you okay?” Lucky asked her, as Liz’s face stayed buried in his neck.
“How did you know to come?”
“Sarah told us.  She told us about Chris ... and Liz.” Nikolas said. Lucky felt Liz hold on tighter, and he knew something was wrong.
“Hey... what’s wrong?” he asked to her softly as she lifted her head up.   He searched her eyes, but all he saw was pain and shame.
“They know.” she replied just as quietly.
“.... About Chris?”
She nodded.
“Baby, they’re not judging you.  They love you, you know that.”
Lucky held on to her as the rest of the gang went to join Luke and V.
They reluctantly followed and V asked Elizabeth, “I just need some questions answered and then we’ll go home.”
“No, we have to go to the hospital first.” Jason said.  “They could be hurt.”
Lucky looked at Liz and saw in her soul that she was broken.
“What do you want to know detective?”
“I need to know about Chris.  If you don’t want to... then....”
“He was my stepbrother.  For a little while.  He had his room next to mine and at night he would..... He would come in and.....” she looked to Lucky for support.  He tightened his arms around her telling her that he was there for her, “He’d come into bed with me and start kissing me. He’d start touching and... I started sleeping at Sarah’s after a month. You know, so he wouldn’t come.  Sarah was the only one that knew, she was the only one I told.  And then I couldn’t take it anymore.  He would
find other ways to be with me.  Besides nighttime.  One day, I set the house on fire.  I couldn’t live anymore, killing me; it didn’t matter as long as he was gone too.  I thought he had died.”  Liz thought back to what Nikolas had said, “Sarah’s alive?”
“Yeah.”
“And gram?”
“Why?”
“We heard gunshots and thought Chris had killed them.” Emily said.  She buried her head on Jason’s shoulder for comfort.
“Elizabeth, did he hurt you when you were with him alone?”  Lucky asked.
“No.  No, he didn’t.  I thought you died Lucky.  He said that he had set the cottage on fire like the way I did at the house.  He said that you died...”
“I’m not dead, baby, I’m right here.  Right here...... Shh....” he held her as she cried.
“I hate him.  Lucky I hate him so much.  He made me feel so used and dirty.   He was sick and wouldn’t leave me alone.  Why couldn’t he leave me alone?”
She stood up and walked away from the crowd.
“Elizabeth?” Lucky called, sensing something was wrong.
“I don’t feel good Lucky, I hurt all over.” she said turning to Lucky.
He pulled her into a hug,
“We’ll get you to a hospital, you’ll get better, I promise.  You’re safe now, hon, I’ll keep you safe forever....” he felt her body fall in his arms.
“Elizabeth?” he said frantically as she fell, “Dad, we have to go to hospital, now!” Lucky told his father.
“Get in the car, everyone get in the car.” Luke said.  V started the car as Luke, Emily and Jason piled in the front.  Lucky, Nikolas brought Elizabeth to the back.

They reached the hospital and V pulled into the emergency drive through and rolled her window down.
“Hey!  This is for emergencies only!” a man yelled.
"And what do you think this is?” she yelled back.
“If you don’t have a good reason to be here, then I suggest you leave lady.”
“Listen sir, I have an unconscious girl in the back seat of my car, bleeding.  I am a PC police officer, and if you deny this girl the right to medical attention, then I will have no choice but to arrest you and put you to jail!”
The man stepped back and called for a stretcher.  They took Elizabeth out and brought her inside.

~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~*%~%*~%*~%*~%*~%*~%~*~%*~

“This is worse than last time.”  Lucky said.
“Last time?”
“Elizabeth and I were shot.  Her wound was worse than mine was.  We faked her death so that she would be safe from Chris.”
“Lucky, maybe you should get that arm checked.  All of us were checked but you.” Emily said.
“I’m fine.  I have to wait for Elizabeth.  I hate this.  When she was shot, at least I knew what they were doing in there.  I don’t know what she’s going through, whether she’s awake or not.”
Just then Laura and LuLu entered the waiting area.
“Lucas Lorenzo, you have some explaining to do.  I get a message about Liz Webber being in the hospital in Rosedale, where my son went to grieve her death.   From what I understand..... She is dead.”
“She’s in the ER mom.  She’s not dead, she never was....” Lucky told her.
“Luke!” she glared at her husband, “What didn’t you tell me....”
“That Lizzie was brought to this cottage in Rosedale to keep pit of harms way of her stalker.”
“How many people knew she was alive?”
“Me.... cowboy, Emily, Nikolas, Barbara Jean, Monica, Sonny, Jason and V.”
“And you didn’t bother to tell me too!”
“Mommy?” LuLu tugged at Laura’s coat.
“Baby, I had to not tell you, for Lizzie’s safety.”
“Okay, I understand..... How is she Lucky?”
He was about to answer, but the doctor came in.  Everybody stood up, preparing themselves for the news.
“Elizabeth suffered some brain damage.  From the fall you all told me about.   She hit her head hard, and we won’t know how it’s affected her until she wakes up, which won’t be until several hours.”
“Can we transport her?  I want her to be home, in Port Charles.” Audrey said.
“Yes, you spoke to me about that.  She’s ready.”
“Can I ride with her?  I mean, if that’s okay with you Mrs. Hardy.... I would like to ride with Elizabeth.” Lucky said.
Audrey agreed and it was finally time to leave and go home.

CHAPTER THIRTY THREE

Lucky, Jason, Nikolas, Emily and Sarah sat at a table in the cafeteria.
“How much longer?” Emily asked.
“Nurse Bobbie said an hour or two.  We can finally see her.” Jason said.
“But she won’t remember us.” Lucky added.
Everyone grew silent.
“Lucky, maybe--”
“No, Em.  I was in the same car as her when she woke up.  She doesn’t know me.  She looked straight in my eyes and she didn’t know me.”
A tear rolled down Sarah’s cheek.  Nikolas reached to touch her hand, but when she caught the motion, she immediately stood up.
“I’m gonna go stay with grams.” She said and walked away.
“Nikolas?” Lucky said.
“She’s fine, just sad…. You know?” he said, but watching her walk away, he knew that it was something else.
“I need to go make a phone call.  I’ll be back.” Jason said kissing Emily’s hand before he left.
Lucky glanced at Nikolas who turned away.  He knew that Nikolas and Emily needed to talk, so he left to look for Bobbie.
After moments of silence, Nikolas said, “We have to talk.”
“About what?”
“Us.” He said simply.
“Nikolas, there is no us.” She said then walked out of the cafeteria into the empty hallway with Nikolas following her.
“Wait, Em!”
“There’s a you and Sarah, but no us.  You can’t be like that and lead on two girls!”
“I’m not….. me and Sarah…. We’re breaking up.”
“So what does that mean?”
“That means… you have a choice Em…. It’s either Jason or me.” He said softly stroking her cheek, fighting the urge to kiss her.
“Why…..” she asked as though she could break down crying.
“Because….” He said softly, then walked away.

Once again we sit in silence
After all is said and done
Only emptiness inside us
Baby, look what we've become

From behind a wall, in it’s own little hallway, Sarah stood clutching her chest as though trying to keep her heart from breaking.
Nikolas’ words kept repeating in her mind.

We can make a million promises
But we still won't change
It isn't right to stay together
When you only bring each other pain

Sarah closed her eyes as Nikolas’ footsteps drew closer.   He passed her without even knowing she was there.  Her broken spirit in
her body fell as she slid to the floor silently sobbing.

I don't wanna cry
Don't wanna cry
Nothing in the world
Could take us back
To where we used to be
Though I've give you my heart and soul
I must find a way of letting go
'Cause baby, I don't wanna cry

Emily didn’t move.  Her mind was still reeling from the choice Nikolas had given her.
Nikolas.
Jason.
Jason.
Nikolas.
She held back a sob.  How could she make a choice like that?

Too far apart to bridge the distance
But something keeps us hanging on and on
Pretending not to know the difference
Denying what we had is gone

Jason opened the cafeteria doors to see Emily standing in the middle of the hallway.  He blocked out his phone conversation and walked to her.
“Emmy, what is it?  Is it Elizabeth?  Is she okay?”
Emily tilted her head and looked straight in his eyes, she shook her head,
“It’s me Jase…I’m broken up into a thousand pieces and I can’t fix myself.”

Every moment we're together
It's just breaking me down
I know we swore it was forever
But it hurts too much to stay around

I don't wanna cry
Don't wanna cry
Nothing in the world
Could take us back
To where we used to be
Though I've give you my heart and soul
I must find a way of letting go
'Cause baby, I don't wanna cry

Nikolas stood at the window in the waiting area.  He watched people outside laughing and smiling, and couldn't help but feel sad or
grasp their happiness.  He turned around to see his father.  He slowly walked with him, on their way home.

All the magic's gone
There's just a shadow of a memory
Something just went wrong
We can't go on make-believing

Lucky walked away from Bobbie and headed to Elizabeth’s hospital room.  He stopped and stood at her door.  Through the window
he could see her sleeping peacefully.  He sighed and slowly opened the door.

I don't wanna cry
Don't wanna cry
Nothing in the world
Could take us back
To where we used to be
Though I've give you my heart and soul
I must find a way of letting go
'Cause baby, I don't wanna cry

Liz woke up and saw a stranger in the room.
“Hi.” He greeted her softly.
“Do I know you?” she asked.
“You saw me today--”
“In the car.  I didn’t know who you were, or who I was.  I still don’t.”
“It’s okay.”
She looked down at her hospital bracelet.
“I’m Elizabeth.”
“Lucky.” He told her.
“That’s a nice name.”
“My real name is Lucas.
“Oh, did I have a nickname too?  Do you know?”
“Most people call you Liz.  My dad calls you Lizzie, so does Jason.”
“Will I get to see these people?”
“Jason?”
She nodded.
“Soon.  He was you childhood friend.  You called him Jay.”
“That’s nice.  How about you?”
“You called me Lucky.”
“No, I mean, what did you call me?”
“Elizabeth.”
“My full name.  You were the only one, I guess.”
Lucky nodded,
“Lucky, is there something I’m missing?  Was there something between us that I should know about?”
“You were my girlfriend.  We were in love.”
Liz grew quiet.
“I wish I could remember.  I hate having you feel like you don’t know me.”
“I hate it too.” Lucky said, “But it’ll all work out, I promise.”
“I’m getting out of here in two days, where will I go?”
“Your gram’s house.”
“Oh, right.  I met her today.  And Sarah, my sister, right?”
Just then Jason came into the room.
“Hey Lizzie.  It’s Jason.”
“Hi.” She said softly, trying to remember.
He sat down beside Lucky and said, “How are you feeling?”
“Okay, a little tired but okay.”
“I brought you something.”
Her face lit up; “A present, and I don’t even know you.”
Lucky and Jason shared a look.
“It’s a movie, you’re favourite.  “Sleepless in Seattle.””
Liz smiled as he set up the VCR and TV in her room.  All three of them sat back and enjoyed the movie, not knowing what the future would bring for any of them.

CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR

*Late August, Early September*

Lucky climbed up to Liz’s bedroom window.  He found her lying on the bed.
“Hey,” he greeted her.
“She stood up, “Hi.”
“You called me over.”
“I had something to tell you.”
“Okay…”
“Sarah’s going to movie to Paris to be closer to my parents.  For some reason, she can’t stand being here.”
“When?”
“In four days, you know, before school starts.”
“That’s nice.”
“Gram’s going with her.”
“But who will stay with you?  You could stay with us…”
“No, you see, I’m going too.”
Lucky’s world came crashing down.
“What?”
“I’m moving to Europe.  Away from Part Charles.”
“You’re moving…. Why?” He asked.
She opened her mouth to answer but he cut her off, “No, I don’t want to know.”
“But Lucky -- ”
“I don’t think I should be here right now.” He said backing out to the window.
“Don’t you think I should tell you why?  Or how I feel?”
“I don’t want to know why or how you’re feeling.” He said climbing out the window.
“But Lucky….. I thought you loved me.” She said softly.
“I do.  That’s why it hurts so much.” He said and left.

The next day, Jason met Liz at the docks.
“He was so mad.  Not even mad, it was like he wouldn’t let himself believe it.”
“I can’t believe it Lizzie, but…. but I’ll try and understand if you tell me why.”
“It’s almost been two months Jase,” she said turning to him, “I don’t remember anything.  You and I were close, and we are somehow.  And if I was that Elizabeth that Lucky loved tap months ago, I would love him forever.”
“You’re saying you don’t love him.”
“It’s not that I don’t, because I do.  In my way, I do.  But my way is not what Lucky wants or needs right now.”
“I understand.”
“So what’s up with you?”
“I need your help.  It’s about Emily.”
“You’re girlfriend.”
“I hope she still is.”
“What happened?”
“I feel as though there’s something blocking us from being together and falling in love….”

“Where are you taking me?” Emily asked.
“It’s a surprise, just keep your eyes closed.” Nikolas instructed.
He led her to what she predicted was a forest.  She could feel the grass through her sandals.  They came to a stop and he took off the blindfold, revealing a
picnic lunch for two.
“You did this?  How?” she asked.
“Some help…. It’s good to be an ex prince.”
Emily let out a small giggle.
“Come, sit.” He took her hand and they both sat down on the soft blanket.
“I even packed the food.”
“As in cooked?”
“I didn’t go that far.  My mom helped me.  I just picked out what I thought you might like.”
He pulled out a bowl of cut fruits and handed her a fork.
“Thanks.” She said, “Was there a whole reason in bringing me here?  I had to break off plans with my mum.”
“I just needed to be with you.  You are my best friend… the only one I can really talk to now.”
“What about Lucky?”
“I feel odded out with him and Liz.  He never leaves her side.  I guess that’s how he felt with me and Sarah.”
“And now that Liz still has amnesia….”
“Exactly.”
“I understand.  I don’t talk to Liz much, and I feel really bad.  I’m odded out at home too, I guess because I’m the only sane one there!”
They laughed.
“Nikolas, you are my best friend.  I mean it.  You know and understand me so well….. so you must know that I do love you.”
“I love you too.”
“But… you also must know that having to choose between you and Jason is hard!   I can’t stay with one and break the other’s heart.  Jason cares
about me Nikolas.”
“But he doesn’t love you like I do.”
“But what I feel for both of you……”
“I know you probably hate this, that you hate me because of this but I need to know if my chance of having you to love is still up there.  We
kissed Emily.”  Nikolas stated.
“So did me and Jason.” She replied.  He grew silent, obviously hurt by the news.
“Look, I should go.  Thank you for the picnic and remember that everything I said before, about us, it’s true to me.  True to my heart.”
She said then left.

“Lucky, it’s Elizabeth.” Liz said to the answering machine, “I know I’m the last person you want to hear from, but I am leaving in three days….
