Chapter 1

"No way man I'm not going to some dumb art class to get in touch with my
creative side." Lucky said to his manager Tony.

"Lucky honey sweetie baby the fans adore you but with the crap you've been
writing lately you'll get kicked down to New Kids on the Block or Vanilla Ice
status." Tony said.

"But an art class. Why can't I travel the world meet new people?" Lucky
asked.

"You do that everyday." Tony said.

"No I mean just today I had lunch with Tonya and I already knew her."

"For three days Lucky."

"Three long days."

"You dumped her didn't you."

"The relationship was getting heavy. She wanted to go out on this fabulous
date type of thing."

"Ughhh I don't know why I put up with you."

"Because you love me now about those art classes-"

"Not another word your going or else."

"Or else what."

"I'll make sure people get that picture of you at the Jive Records Christmas
party."

"Fine I'll go it's in my hometown anyway I can visit my family and friends."

"And here I thought I was your only friend."

"Hey I get about 2 thousand fan mail a day from people who want to be my
friend."

"I give up Lucky Spencer." Tony said walking out of the office.

"You know you love me."

To Liz in PC in her art studio as Em walks in.

"Hey Liz what's up?"

"I just got the strangest phone call from some guy named Tony. He is paying
me triple for private art lessons to a musician guy. Can you believe that?"

"That's great Liz. Who's the musician."

"Um what was it, it was some positive um peppy? No that's not it um happy?
No ducky? Um it reminded me of a rabbit's foot."

"Lucky?"

"That's it. How did you guess?"

"He's only been my best friend since I was fourteen. He lived here in PC for
a long time before starting a singing career. I can't believe you didn't
know who he was."

"It's me remember Em? I don't get out much."

"Well your in for the time of your life. Lucky's the best guy you could ever
know. He's Luke and Laura's son"

"You mean Lucas? Lucky is Lucas. I have to met this guy they never stop
talking about how wonderful he is."

"Because their right."

"I don't know he seems like the player I think I'm so studly kind of guy."

"If he does act like that it's cover. He's a really sweet guy you'll see."

"Well I could use the money to buy that Jessica McClintuck dress for the
Megalister party."

"The white one? Oh that looked so gorgoues on you."

"So is this Lucky guy cute."

"He's Nikolas' brother."

"Then he must be really cute."

"Hey that's my man your talking about."

"How are you and Nik?"

"In love."

"I'm so happy for you."

"Thanks but I know you'll find that person someday Liz and when you do you'll
know it."

"Sometimes I feel like the next person walking down the hall could be the one
but I just can't see it."

"Trust me you'll know your a girl. Besides your in your early 20 you have
your whole life to find Mr. Right. It might even be Lucky."

"Please Emily I'm sure he has tons of supermodel girlfriends who are tall,
thin, beautiful, and perfect."

"And you aren't? Please remember we did that model photo shoot together.
You could have been the next Cindy Crawford but instead you chose to-"

"Follow my dream and be an artist. Is that so wrong?"

"It's perfect. Your perfect on the in and out."

"Did anyone ever tell you your the sweetest person?"

"Thank you now shape up my best friend Lucky Spencer and you are going to be
great friends."

"He comes in tomorrow."

"Are you sleeping here again?"

"Why do you ask?"

"Because what if Lucky's your Mr. Right I don't want you looking all
unshowered."

"Yes I am and if he is my Mr. Right then he'd accept that fact. Now go to
your boyfriend and have a smashing date."

"If you insist."

"Bye Em."

"Bye Liz."

Elizabeth pulled up a stool to her blank canvas and grabbed a giant paint
brush. The molted in the deep blue cloudless skies. And which each little
flicker of time that passed by she got more and more paint on herself. She
decided to rest for it is already 2 o'clock in the morning before she was
satisfied with the color of blue. She feel asleep on her sketching couch
while a smle of satisfaction on her face.

To Lucky

He tossed and turned in the plane. He was to arrive in Port Charles early
the next morning. His family was away in Europe for the time being and
Nikolas offered to pick him up. Lucky had missed his half brother. He had
heard about him and Emily going out and he was happy. He always knew they
belonged together. Then there was a matter of where he was going to stay.
Nik insisted his house so for the next week at least he had to satisfy his
brother by living there. He got off of the plane and decended into the
airport of Port Charles. He was home.

Chapter 2

Lucky was greeted by Em and Nik who were very estatic to see him. He smiled
back at them and put on his dark glasses as not to be recognized and left the
airport with the couple. They reminissed on old times when they were driving
back to Nik's house. Lucky survyed it. Still like he remembered. He
noticed it was now fully furnised and no gargoyled in sight.

"No gargoyles I'm impressed."

"Oh no I keep those in the guest room for people like you." Nik said.

"Just what I always wanted. How did you know?" Lucky replied. "this place
looks great man. The decorator is top notch."

"Actually she's your art teacher Elizabeth Webber. She's a friend of Em and
mine."

"Hmmm Elizabeth. Anything else you can tell me about her?"

"She's just like you stubborn and hard as a rock." Em said.

"That imformation will come in handy." Lucky said.

"So how does it feel to be coming home." Em asked.

"Strange like I hadn't left ever." Lucky said.

"You know what it's almost time for you to have your very first art lesson.
Unpack your stuff and I'll drive you." Nik said.

"Thanks Nikolas." Lucky said as he went to put his stuff away. He finisehd
unpacking and was sure to take a picture of his family out of his bag and set
it on the nightstand. Lately since the death of Ruby he hadn't been able to
write the songs his fans wanted. All he wrote was garbage. He was in a block
and if art lessons were the way to go then call him Van Gogh.

"Ready Lucky?" Nik shouted.

"Yeah I'll be righ there." Lucky said and he slowly walked up and headed on
out the door. Nik dropped him off and Nik laughed the the sight of his
suite. If he was painting with Liz he better have watch out he'll come home
with a dirty suit. He unfolded out his sunglasses and walked into her
studio. It was of moderate size. He smirked at the strange pieces of
artwork no way was he doing anything like that. He walked into an ajoining
room and found the pottery room. Someone was hard at work at the wheel. She
carefully framed her vase to her liking making sure every detail of perfect.
He starred at her amazing ablities.

"Excuse me?" Lucky asked startling Liz. She turned sliding her clay clear
across the room and on Lucky's sunglasses.

"Opps. I am so sorry are you okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine it's just clay."

"Here um we have some paper towels here for you if you want them and it
washes off if that helps."

"It's okay." He said while he checked out her attire. She was wearing a
plaid shirt and her face and hands were covered in paint and clay. "Working
hard?"

"Yes. So can I help you?"

"You don't know who I am?"

"Not a clue."

"Do you ever listen to music?"

"Sometimes but not really. I'm Liz Webbr."

"Well Elizabeth can you tell me where I can meet the owner?"

"Your looking at her."

"Your the owner? Your the famous, wonderful artist."

"Well thank you."

"It wasn't a compliment it was merely what I heard."

"Well whoever you heard it from I thank them."

"So do you know who I am now?"

"Nope but I figure you'll tell me."

"I'm Lucky Spencer."

Elizabeth couldn't believe it. This arrogant jerk was Lucky Spencer? She
couldn't believe a great girl like Emily could possibly like Lucky.

"So your the Lucky Spencer. My friend Emily Quartermaine told me about you.
You and Nikolas don't look a thing alike."

"We're only half brothers."

"Oh but I do see a bit of Laura in you. You look like her."

"You know my mother?"

"Well I used to be a waitress at Luke's before I started this art studio. I
earned the money and got a loan from you brother. He then said I could pay
him back by painting him free paintings."

"That's Nikolas for you always gallent and wonderful."

"My aren't we sounding bitter."

"No offense to you or anything but I didn't chose to come here okay? My
manager made me come."

"No one can govern your life but you Lucky."

"Look this guy holds my career in his hands."

"So what go find a new guy."

"Look your life may be simple and you can run it-"

"You think my life is simple. Look around I have a studio to run and frankly
your wasting my time."

"Well Ms. Webber I thank you for your two seconds."

"What do you want? I can't modivate you Lucky you have to want to be here."
Liz said while she started cleaning supplies and walking around frantically.
He followed her every step that she took. "Would you mind leaving and not
crowding me?"

"I take your challenge."

"My what?"

"Your challenge. You don't think I'm creative enough to get lessons from you
or write new songs. Well I'll prove to you that I'm not just talentless
hack."

"Whatever you want Lucky it's not my decision."

"Fine then let's start right now."

"Are you sure you want to paint in those clothes?"

"Why not?"

"Do you want them turning into my clothes?"

"What do you suggest I do."

"Since I'm such a generous person I'll help you there's a clothes shop right
next door."

"Thank you."

"Wow you should become an actor that almost sounded sincere."

Liz said while walking out. She called out to Frank her pal to help run the
place while she was gone. They crossed the street and both of them didn't
know it but this was going to be the beginning of the best relationship for
each of them.

Chapter 3

"Okay grab something quick." Liz said.

"You expect me to pick from these clothes?" Lucky asked surveying the shop
which was below his standards.

"This is stuff you wear to get dirty okay. Just pick something."

"I thought you were supposed to help me."

"Fine here." Liz said picking up a Hawaian shirt with fluffy stuff on it and
some speedos.

"Very funny."

"I'm a roit. Okay how about this." Liz said showing him some kahki pants and
white shirt with a blue plaid shirt.

"It's okay."

"Well guess what it's the best that I can do."

"Fine by me."

"Can we go now?"

"My aren't we in a hurry."

"Look I just happen to have more of a life than baby-sitting you so if you
could please-"

"Fine let me go pay for these things." Lucky paid for them and then they
walked back the the studio.

"I'm back Frank!" Liz yelled. By the way her art studio is three stories
high and all white.

"Where can I change?" Lucky asked.

"Um in my office. Come on I'll talk you there." Liz said while she walked
Lucky up to her office. "I know this might make you unconfortable just
change behind that dressing room door."

"It's a little swinging door."

"It's enough Lucky besides you don't have anything I haven't already seen."

"I like to think of myself as well endowed."

"Just go change Lucky." Liz said while rolling her eyes. Lucky went behind
and started to change while Liz worked at her desk filling paper work. She
waited about 5 minutes before she heard more whinning from Lucky.

"Hey Liz could you help me out a minute?" Lucky asked.

"How could you need help with dressing!?!" Liz said as she stormed off into
the dressing room. Then she saw his bare chest and gulped. His perfect skin
rounded off his smooth greek god like body. "Um," was all Liz could get out
while she turned around covering her face as it turned red. "I'm sorry I
didn't know you were half-dressed."

Lucky laughed and noticed her blushing. "It's okay Elizabeth I just wanted
you to bring my shirts that I left outside so you wouldn't have to see me
half-naked but I think it depleats the point now."

"Well I'm gonna go set up for our lesson okay?"

"Hey, I saw you blush." Lucky said with a smile upon his face. Liz turned
around and gave him this uncertain type of look.

"You saw no such thing." she said and stormed off. He smiled once again and
laughed to himself.

"Yeah right" he muttered while putting on his shirts. Lucky noticed the way
she bit her lip so tenderly almost inviting him to kiss her but on the other
hand so was the most aggrivating person he had ever met. He didn't know if
he could stand to be around her let alone kiss her. Oh well this was only
going to be for a short while besdies he was home where he belonged for the
time-being. He walked down to the studio and found Elizabeth sorting through
brushes and cleaning up some clay. He couldn't help but just watch her. She
felt eyes watching her and turned around.

"Are you going to stand there or help me?"

"Probably stand here."

"Can you put that vase onto the shelf?"

"But it's wet."

"That's why you bought the 'dirty' clothes now move it."

"Yes ma'am."

"Do I look old enough to be a ma'am. I'm 26 years old thank you very much
just call me Liz."

"Okay Elizabeth." Lucky said as he moved the clay onto the shelf. He
admired he other works and hated to admit it but she was good. "So how long
have you been doing this?"

"For about 10 years."

"Long time."

"What about your music?" Liz asked curiously.

"I've loved music since I was born but I didn't really start until I was a
teenager."

"How old are you?" Liz asked.

"Why?"

"I'm curious. You look like your 26 but you seem like you carry a chip of a
46 year old on your shoulder."

"I'm 26."

"I'm a good guesser."

"Or Emily told you."

"You don't have to get so technical on me."

"So where do we start I would like this over with asap. I want to go out
tonight."

"You do realize that the night life in PC is pretty bleak. Besides the
occasional drive by shooting and bombing we are as exciting fried chicken."

"Hey I lived here for 10 years of my life I think I know what's exciting and
what's not."

"Suite yourself."

"Besides I'm thinking about going to New York and hitting the scene there. I
got many adoring fans waiting to see me."

"Yeah every bimbo the eye can see."

"I date inteligent woman."

"Sure you do."

"Okay they may not be rocket scientists but I don't date coffee house freaks."

"Who said I did?"

"Look around this place isn't exactly happy sunshine."

"It just so happens I haven't found Mr. Right yet but let me tell you I don't
care if he's Mr. Coffee House Freak or an Ammish farmer as long as he doesn't
have your superego I'll be fine."

"I don't have a superego."

"I'm surprised this room isn't full because there isn't enough room for you
head."

"You think you know in the last 30 minutes you've meet me don't you?"

"I can read people like that! And what you are your the 'I can get every
girl I want' type of guy. The guy who can't be with a woman for more than 3
days I bet."

"Three days is a long time and your the type of woman who would drive a man
insane."

"Oh this is great we're going to have a peacky keen time here now aren't we."

"Let's please get this over with. Truce until lessons over?" Lucky said
sticking his hand out."

"Fine truce."

"Okay where do I start Ms. Webber."

"Let's not get all technical again. Liz remember?"

"Okay liz what woluld you like me to do."

"It's up to you if you would like to try painting or clay."

"If I must I think clay would be better."

"Why?"

"To see if that clay I got on my shirt earlier was an accident or on purpose."

"Your never gonna let me live that down are you"

"Nope never."

"Well okay how about something simple first like a pinch pot."

"Hey I'm ready for the wheel."

"Are you sure? The wheel is pretty difficult and your a beginner."

"Look I can do it I'm a fast learner."

"Okay if you say so. Roll the clay into a ball." Liz said as Lucky plumited
his hands into the clay. "Okay place it on the wheel but-" before Liz could
say her but Lucky's clay went flying off the wheel and onto the floor. "Make
sure you turn it on slowly."

"Maybe I should start out with that pinch pot."

"You think?"

They spent the afternoon making pinch pots and barely speaking for fear of
another fight. Lucky changed his clothes and left the office leaving an
aggrivated Liz.

"If I have to spend another lesson with him I will be sure to-"

"Do what?" Emily said while she entered.

"God do you know how infuriating that little menace to society is."

"Liz he's just acting this way to protect himself. Lucky fineds it hard to
trust people especailly woman."

"What's with Lucky and woman?"

"It's his story and he'll tell it to you when he's ready."

"He has a story? Hmm full of I loved her for three whole days but it was too
much for me."

"He might seem like that now but trust me Liz."

"Yeah well I'm going to get out of here tonight maybe I'll go visit Luke and
tell him about his son."

"Sounds like a plan maybe Nik and I will meet you there."

"Great 6 is a good time for some cheese fries."

"See you there Lizzie dear."

"Bye Em."

Lucky sat in Nikolas' cottage wondering what happened that day. Everytime he
was with Liz it was ups and downs nothing was constatnt with her but he kind
of liked it then Em came through the door yelling for Nikolas.

"He went to visit his father." Lucky answered.

"Did he say when he'd be back?"

"He said he'll meet you at Luke's around 6 so you two could have some drinks
together."

"Wow that works out perfectly!" Emily said excitily. "So what do you think
about Lizzie?"

"You mean Elizabeth? She is the most infuriating woman I ever met. She
already thinks I'm this person with a superego and-"

"Whoah what a sec Lucky. She's my friend too. Just give her a chance she's
just had a rough life okay?"

"Fine whatever you say Em." Lucky said glumly.

"Well how about you join Nik and me for drinks tonight." Em said.

"Sure I have nothing else to do."

"You mean the number one music sensation can't get a date?"

"No it's not that it's just that there the same person over and over again I
want someone who makes me laugh and challenges me."

"What made this change of heart?"

"I don't know."

"I think I do but anyway 6 at your dad's club."

"Okay I'll be there I promise. By the way I had my things moved over to the
penthouse in that PC hotel. Tonight is my last night staying with you two."

"Why?"

"You know me I'm a very private person."

"You can stay as long as you like."

"No I can't write songs here."

"Well I'm going to go pick up Nik do you want to come along?"

"Na I'll meet you there. I think I'll take the bus for old times sake."

"Aren't you worried someone will recognize you?"

"No I love my fans."

"Okay well bye bye and give Lizzie another chance."

"Fine anything for my best friend."

"Bye"

"Bye."

Lucky just wollowed on the couch and tried to squeeze out more words but
nothing came to his mind, nothing yet anyway.

Chapter 4

"Hey Papa Bear you in?" Liz asked.

"Always for my princess. Now what can I do for you Elizabeth?" Luke asked.

"Well Em and Nik and I are going to have a couple of drinks here later so I
think I'll preorder the cheese fries and our usual table."

"Anything you want babe. What are you celebrating?"

"Well for me it's surviving the rath of your son."

"Got on your nerves a little?"

"You don't even know. His ego is bigger than your record collection. He is
nothing like anybody has told me."

"He must have changed after all he hasn't been living here for some years it
happens to the best but deep down inside I know that he'll open back up to
the old Lucky. You just have to wait and see. The old Chuckles draws people
back to themselves."

"Your so wise you know that?"

"Don't I."

"Now I know where he gets that superego."

"Ha ha princess see if I do you any favors."

"You will because I'm so cute."

"See it's you rubbing off on me." Luke shouted as Liz went out of his
office. On her way to her table she ran into Laura.

"Hello Mama Bear."

"Hello Lizzie."

"I'm teaching your son art."

"Nikolas?"

"No Lucky."

"He has that much patience?"

"No not really he kind of aggrivates me."

"He'll do that to you it's the Spencer charm."

"So you and Luke having a romantic evening?"

"Of course it's our Thursday night out."

"I hope I find the kind of love you and Luke have."

"A pretty girl like you? Of course. Hey maybe it'll be Lucky then you'll
really be my daughter."

"I think everyone has an obsession of me and Lucky being a couple."

"I think you two would really hit it off."

"Your thinking of the wrong kind of hit."

"My son may be stubborn and complex but he is also a Spencer."

"I learn to like him."

"Thank you. Now if you'll excuse me I must go to my husband."

"Don't do anything I wouldn't do."

"Oh I'll do that and more."

Laura left and Liz sat down waiting for everyone to show up. Lucky stepped
into the bar and right away he spotted Elizabeth. He thought about what
Emily said and decided to go up to her.

"Hey." was all he could muster.

"Hey." she said back.

"Um, so what are you doing here?"

"Waiting for Emily and Nikolas. What about you?"

"The same."

"I don't remember them mentionging you."

"Ditto."

"Well um I ordered cheese fries if you don't mind."

"They're my favortie."

"Well that's the first thing I think we've agreed on."

"Surprising. Well not to test my lucky but how about ribs."

"I only like the ones from Eli's."

"I would never eat any other ribs."

"Two for two we're on a roll."

Claude comes up to them and hands Liz a note

Dear Liz,

Sorry we got stuck on the island the launch isn't working but I
invited Lucky so you two can keep each other company.

love and kisses,
Emily

"Well it looks like Em and Nikolas aren't coming tonight."

"What happened?"

"The launch isn't working."

"Oh."

"If you want we can still hang out."

"Why not."

"Okay..."

There is a moment of silence between them as Liz taps her fingers.

"So my parents you know them pretty well?"

"They're the best. I call them mama and papa bear and they call me princess."

"What do they call my sister?"

"Lady Lu. She's was the cutest and now she's growing into a beautiful young
woman."

"I've missed a lot over the years."

"But you still keep in contact which is good."

"Thank that's the first compliment that you've given me."

"Everyone told me what a great guy you are so I thought I wouldn't let my
mouth get ahead of me today."

"I'm far from the guy they remember."

"I'm sure you aren't."

"Well everyone is telling me how great you are too."

"Then how about we start over."

"Okay. Hi I'm Lucky Spencer. I have giant ego and I'm a famous music star."

"Elizabeth Webber. I'm an arrogant and wonderful artist complete with
studio."

They laughed at each other.

"Okay now that we have that out of the way there is one way to seal our
friendship."

"How?"

"A dance."

"A dance?"

"Well my dad always said that's how you seal friendship with the opposite
sex."

"Oh your dad huh? It sounds like Luke. Okay sure."

"I'll the lead the way."

They got out onto the dance floor and the Backstreet Boys song I Want it That
Way came on.

You are my fire
The one desire
Believe when I say
I want it that way

"These guys."

"Wha'ts wrong with the Backstreet Boys?"

"They are a manufacturned band that doesn't even make up their own songs."

"True, but we all have to start out somewhere besides they seem kind of
romantic."

"Romantic? So this is romantic for woman."

"I can't speak for all woman but just for me yeah that kind of corny stuff is
romantic. Girls don't say this enough but it's the little cute things that
count."

"I'll try and remember that."

But we are two worlds apart
Can't reach to your heart
When you say
That I want it that way

He took her hand and put it on his heart as they inched closer and closer
each second. She bit her lip and put her head on his shoulder as he starred
down at her bear neck wanting to kiss it.

CHORUS:
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a heartache
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a mistake
Tell me why
I never wanna hear you say
I want it that way

He grabbed her hand and Lucky started to spin her around and she was
laughing. He then made fun of some backstreet boys dancing and she laughed
some more. He took her in his arms again and then decided to sing along.

Am I your fire
Your one desire
Yes I know it's too late
But I want it that way
CHORUS

"I can't believe you know the words."

"When your in the music business you gotta know the words to all of the
songs."

"So you believe the Backstreet Boys know the words to you songs."

"Of course."

Now I can see that we've fallen apart
From the way that it used to be, yeah
No matter the distance
I want you to know that
Deep down inside of me
You are my fire
The one desire
You are, you are, you are, you are
Don't wanna hear you say...

"So what is with the interest in the Backstreet Boys?"

"Well I've always been a fan."

"So you have enough time for their music but not mine."

"No I didn't mean it like that. To tell you truth I've heard your music
before. It's great really it's just-"

"What's wrong with it?"

"The early stuff is great but the new stuff lacks a litte-"

"Creativity? I know that's why I'm using your artistic flair maybe I can
find that old magic again."

"It's all about passion. Maybe if you remember why you got into the music
business in the first place."

"Maybe. I don't know things are just complecated."

"Well if it makes you feel better I'm at an artistic halt at this minute."

"You? No way."

"Yeah I am I just don't know what to paint. I mean I can paint many things
but nothing takes my breath away anymore."

"Try a portriat those make people want to buy."

"I've never painted a portriat it isn't my style."

"Try it out sometime you'll find that you like it."

"Maybe."

Don't wanna hear you say,
Ain't nothin' but a heartache,
Ain't nothin' but a mistake,
(Don't wanna hear you say),
I never wanna hear you say,
I want it that way

"So tell me how long are you staying?"

"For a month or two. I have class practically everyday with you so you'll
get sick of me."

"Who says I haven't already."

"Oh low blow Ms. Webber."

"It's the nasty in me."

"Well if your lucky-"

"I'm not Lucky you are."

"Ha, ha! Well if you are lucky I might just be able to be good."

"Well I might just have to make an effort back."

"Then it's settled.

Tell me why,
Ain't nothin' but a heartache,
Tell me why,
Ain't nothin' but a mistake,
Tell me why,
I never wanna hear you say,
(Don't wanna hear you say),7
I want it that way

Lucky pulled Liz in close again cheek to cheek this time. He felt little
butterflies going off in her stomach. Liz's heart was practically jumping
out of her chest. Who would have though Mr. Famous Lucky Spencer would be
dancing with a nobody like her.

Tell me why...
Ain't nothin' but a heartache,
Ain't nothin' but a mistake,
Tell me why,
I never wanna hear you say,
(Never wanna hear you say it),
I want it that way

I want it that way

Lucky board his eyes into Elizabeth as she leaned in closer. He stepped back
and put his hand through his hair.

"I'll take you home." he said.

"Okay." Liz said letting out her breath. She grabbed her purse and Lucky
held out his hand for her and she took it as he lead her out of Luke's and he
gave her a ride home. There was silence the whole way and Liz said a polite
thank you and left.

Chapter 5

The next day Em arrived at Liz's studio

"Hey I'm sorry about last night really Liz."

"It's no problem I met Lucky and we decided to start over. He's not that
bad."

"I told you so."

"You love being right."

"Of course."

"Now about the Maglister party-"

"Didn't you hear. Peggy canceled it George had to go to Japan on some
business trip."

"Oh crap Emily I needed that party to sell more artwork." Liz said pushing
her hair back with her hand.

"I thought the gallery was going great."

"It's mangaing but I was counting on that party."

"Don't worry Liz besides Nik co-owns this place and I'm sure-"

"Em I can't keep borrowing from Nikolas."

"What about the money your getting from Lucky?"

"It's not enough to keep everyone on staff."

"Don't worry Liz everything is going to work out things have a way."

"This is my only dream and if I have to give it up I don't know what I'll
do." Liz said as she plopped down. Emily gave her a hug as an idea popped
into her mind.

Em went home and found Lucky there playing with his guitar. He felt torn he
didn't know what he felt towards Liz so he decided to act like he didn't like
her.

"Hey I thought you had big plans tonight or at least that's what Liz told
me." Em.

"You know she can be a pain in the neck."

"But so are you."

"Point taken"

"But you are also the most generous wonderful guy in the universe."

"What do you want?"

"I remember you telling me about going to Claire's party and it's by invite
only."

"You and Nikky have tickets though."

"But you have an extra one."

"What are you saying?"

"I'm saying take Liz for me?"

"Emily do you understand the idea of having a good time is not to bring those
who bother you with you?"

"No I don't understand that come on you've only seen the serious artist Liz
not the fun Liz I've known to love like a sister."

"Sibling love is nothing look at me and Nikolas."

"Lucky look Claire Mardian is one of the best art collector's in the known
world and if she just looked at Liz's work I'm sure she'd love it and buy
some."

"So this is about Liz's work? Did she put you up to this?"

"No she doesn't even know I'm here and if you tell her I'll kill you."

"So how do I come into this picture."

"Claire loves you and if you show up with her that means Liz is so in with
her and the art studio can be saved."

"She's in a bind? Just bail her out with money Em your a Quartermaine."

"She won't accept it from me. Please if I just ask of you one thing."

"Just this one thing?"

"I promise. Pretty please."

"Fine."

"Really? Thank you thank you Lucky. Your the best."

"I know it."

"You can't let her know though that your doing this."

"Why not?"

"It's like charity."

"Fine then what can I do."

"Just ask her out like on a date."

"Em..."

"But not really a date just kind of a hello were going out together thing."

"Fine."

"You won't regret this."

"I already do."

Emily went to visit Liz the next day and Lucky showed up.

Lucky cleared his throat and Liz and Em stopped talking.

"Um, I forgot my sunglasses." Lucky said. "Hey Em what are you doing here?"

"Just visiting." Em said.

"Nope I didn't. Um anyway my friend Claire Mardian is having a party this
weekend and I already know that Em and Nikolas are going and since I don't
know anybody in town and I was hoping you'd be my date Elizabeth."

"You want me to go with you Lucky? You've known me for 24 hours and already
I can see we act like the odd couple." Liz said.

"So your a friend of Emily's so you can't be that bad." Lucky replied.

"You know Claire is one of the top ten art buyers. She's gotten some the
greats started." Em said.

"Yeah I know. I'd love to go with you but are you sure?" Liz said.

"Yes I'm sure. Great I'll pick you up at 7. It's tomorrow night. Do you
have a dress?"

"Yeah I have a perfect dress."

"Okay, um I'll see you."

"Bye and thanks Lucky." Liz said. Lucky left and Liz went up to Em kind of
gushing.

"Your going with Lucky how great is that?" Em said.

"That's nice and all but Claire Mardian if I'm in with her I'm in with
everyone."

"Hello that little number you call a dress isn't going to work. We need to
alter it slightly I mean after all Lucky Spencer is your date."

"It's not a date he doesn't know anybody Em."

"He grew up here I know at leat 200 girls who are dying to go out with him."

"Lucky me I guess."

"Liz he likes you."

"You think?"

"You kind of like him back don't you."

"It's the vain and concited parts of me that like him his personality reeks."

"So what he's cute. Now about that dress."

"What's wrong with the Jessica McClintuck I got."

"Liz nothing just we're going to have to show a little more skin."

"But Em-"

"And some make-up just to highlight those wonderful checkbones of yours of
course oh and I'll get Leticia to do your hair-"

"Em hold up a minute here one step at a time."

"Lizzie look this is an event to die for and if your not ready for it then
you can't save your dream. This is your only chance. Please let me help
you."

"Only because your my friend."
