Chapter 11:

They finished their game of twister. It was almost 3 o'clock in the morning.

"I'm not being a very good nurse - not letting you get your rest."

"I don't need rest. I'm fine."

"At least let me put on another bandage to your head."

"If you insist. Let me put my clothes back on though."

"If you have to."

Liz put back on her clothing as Lucky playfully pouted.

"Please, let's not make those puppy dog faces. That's how Todd got me into bed."

"No way, you're too smart for that."

"I used to make Sarah look like Einstein. Trust me. I was vain and concieted."

"You don't seem like the type."

"I was."

"So your saying I could get you into bed if I keep on making a puppy dog face."

"I was like that but not anymore. Please, don't insult my intelligence. Besides what about your girlfriend?"

"Oh, I'm just kidding. Do I look like a two timer? Wait don't answer that."

"Come on let's go eat I'm starving."

"You should be you look like a little stick."

"You try almost drowning and putting two people together-"

"Okay, I get the picture."

"Good, now let's eat please."

They entered Lucky's kitchen and Liz served up some pasta.

"You can make food you see?"

"Lucky, I hardly call pasta food. All you have to do is put it in some water. Besides you haven't tasted the sauce yet."

"Give a guy a chance." Lucky put the pasta up to his mouth and tasted it. He chewed and smiled politly but he couldn't take it anymore and he had to spit it out.

"I told you so."

"What did you put in that?" Lucky said while he took a gulp of water.

Liz held up some soy sauce and tabasco sauce.

"Just some spice."

"Oh, you went low. Are you trying to kill me?"

"No, but I am trying to mess with your head. Now you know I hate cooking. Here is some spagetti sauce heated from the store so it won't kill you."

"Thank you. Now this is good pasta."

"So Mr. Famous Singer actually can have store bought spaghetti sauce."

"Hey, I'm just like any other regular Joe."

"You are not, Lucky."

"I am, too."

"What regular guy has girls climbing all over them and limos galore."

"You think girls climb all over me?" Lucky asked Liz inching closer to her. Suddenly Liz became flustered.

"Well, your not ugly and your a famous singer in all of those teeny bopper magazines and um..." Suddenly Lucky started laughing. "What's so funny?"

"You, you're blushing."

"Am not."

"Are too."

"You want to make a bet?"

"Fine, but I say your blushing."

"I'm not." Liz said flinging some spaghetti at his suit.

"Oh, now you're going down." Lucky said and before either one of them knew it a full on spaghetti war was on. Liz took the entire sauce and poured it over Lucky's head.

"Looks like your the one covered in sauce." Before she cold say anything else Lucky shoved all the pasta into her face. They were shrieking and running all around the kitchen until Liz slipped in some sauce and Lucky fell on top of her. They were laughing and then it stopped. Suddenly sexual tension filled the air and Lucky lipped those luscious lips of his. But Liz being the good girl she is said "Um, I want to get up now."

"Yeah, um, sorry." Lucky said getting up.

"That's okay." Liz said getting up. "I'm going to go wash up."

"Me too."

"Um, I'll see you."

"Elizabeth?"

"Yeah, Lucky."

"Is your head okay."

"It's fine MOM. I know your just worrying about me but trust me I'm fine." Liz said while walking out of the room. She made her way towards the shower and breathed in the sigh of heated water cleaning herself of the pasta and sauce. "You're not fine, Elizabeth." She started to say to herself. "You just wanted to kiss your new best friend and he just happens to have a girlfriend. Oh, and you set them up. Good job, Elizabeth." She hit her head and then realized it was sore from hitting it the other night.

Lucky was having the same conversation with himself in his bathroom. "Stupid, stupid, stupid. She's the sweetest thing. I can't help how I feel but I have to. For Cindy's sake. When was the last time you were serious about a girl? Who knows? Just act cool Spencer not like you haven't been with pretty girls before."

They both made it out of their showers and fell straight to bed without even saying goodnight to each other.

The next morning. Lucky woke up with a start. The streaks of sunshine were pouring into his room. He went to the kitchen and grabbed some coffee for himself and Liz so he knocked on her door. No answer. He carefully opened it up and found an already made bed and all of her things gone. Suddenly his eyes affixiated upon a letter with his name on it. He carefuly ripped open the envelope.

Dear Lucky,
Don't worry about me Lucky. I'm fine. I decided to go to the studio Frank and Joe are having some problems running the place. After all it is my studio. Drop by this afternoon for your lesson.
Love,
Elizabeth
P.S. I'm fine Lucky Spencer cause I know your going to call and be all worried about me but don't I'm swamped.
P.P.S. Your brother called. I told him you'd meet him at the grill around 12:00.

"She knows me already." Lucky said as he glanced at the alarm clock. It read 11:30 just enough time for him to meet Nikolas. He needed to talk to someone.

~*~Liz~*~

"Hey, Liz, what are you doing here?" Em asked as she entered the studio.

"Frank and Joe had some problems so I came in to help. The question is what are you doing here?"

"Well, actually Frank and Joe called Nikolas and I told him that I'd help him out."

"Well, while you're here can you check some paint inventory. I need to see if I should buy more."

"Anything you want but are you sure you don't need to get home and get some rest."

"No, I don't need any rest. You're just like Lucky."

"We're just concerned. After all that bandage your sporting isn't a fashion statement."

"Look I'm fine really. Besides I'm taking it easy just with desk work. Actually, you could get my stuff from Lucky's place and put it back in my house."

"Yeah, what's up with that you and Lucky. I mean staying at his house. Staying at the house of an opposite gender Elizabeth Webber what is going on?"

***The next part is going to be confusing. Okay Liz and Emily are talking at her gallery and then there is Lucky and Nik talking at the PC Grill. Lucky and Liz are going to be finishing each other's sentences in a sense. They are soul mate so they kind of have the same thoughts. Well anyway I'm going to be using the ~ sign to show that they are finishing each other's sentences. Hope you understand.***

"Em, nothing is going on. Lucky is like... he's like~"

"A best friend. I feel like I known her my entire life." Lucky said.

"Your entire life? Sounds like something is going on there." Nikolas said.

Lucky said, "Nothing is going~"

"On between Lucky and I." Liz said. "Can't a girl and a guy be friends."

Em answered. "Not when they are soulmates and attracted to each other."

Liz said. "Lucky and I~"

"Are friends and nothing else." Lucky said.

"Come on Lucky that's the same speech I had about Emily."

"You and Em are different your meant for each other. Besides, did I tell you Tonya and I got back together."

"That's the first I heard about this. You've been talking about Elizabeth for the past 30 minutes."

"She's just a new friend."

Nik said "But Em~"

"And I were just like that Elizabeth. Face the facts there is some weird tension going on between you two." Em said.

"Emily, you need to get a life, girlfriend." Liz said as she walked away starting to count paint supplies.

"I know, but I'm going to go pack your things right now. Knowing you your stuff is all over the place." Emily said while leaving.

"Call me later!" Liz yelled. "Hey, Frank I gotta run over to Claire's art gallery. Can you take care of the place for about an hour?"

"Sure Liz. No problem." Frank responded.

"Thanks. I'll be back." Liz said.

Liz headed over to Claire's gallery. She was about to step into Claire's office when she heard arguing. She couldn't help overhear but it sounded like Tonya with Claire. It was only natural after all they were relatives.

"Aunt Claire you can't be serious."

"Darling you spend more than I make let alone what you don't make. Let me make this clear you are getting an allowance. If you can't live off of it find a job."

"Aunt Claire no way do I want to find a job. That would be luticrous."

"Find it or find a way to manage your money."

"Maybe I won't have to for long."

"Really Tonya and how do you expect to pull that off."

"I have one of America's richest most gorgous bacholers as my boyfriend."

"Lucky will never pay for all the stuff you're buying. Jesus, when I told your parents I'd raise you right but it turns out I raised a spoiled child. You will not use that young man for money."

"You treat him more like family than you treat me - your own flesh and blood. Don't you care about my welfare? I guess not. Anyway he's going to do what I ask him to do. Don't mess with me Aunt Claire."

"You know what. I'm a rational person. I'm off to France to open up a new gallery. When I come back I hope you have come to your senses or else I'm telling Lucky Spencer how you intend to treat him. If one hair on that boy's body is ever hurt physically or emotionally I'll make sure you pay Tonya. Starting with withdrawling your trust fund. You hear me?"

"Loud and clear Auntie Claire."

"Tonya, I mean it."

"Yes, Aunt Claire."

"I'm going upstairs to get my things. I'll see you when I get back."

"Toddles."

Claire left up the stairs while Elizabeth still lingered on outside.

Tonya started to talk to herself.

"Now what was that Aunt Claire said again? Oppsie I forget. Too bad. When I'm through with Lucky Spencer he won't have a penny to spend."

Shocked, Liz started to run as fast as she could back to her art studio. Her first instinct was asking herself whether or not she should tell Lucky. She was his best friend but she didn't want to hurt him. She made it all the way back to her studio in record time and there was Lucky waiting for her.

Chapter 12:

"Hey, where's the fire? I thought you were going to take it easy." Lucky said grabbing her arm and making her sit down.

"I am I just felt like running."

"Not on my watch you won't. Are you okay you look a little pale maybe we should go see the doctor."

"No, I'm fine Lucky, I promise. I just have some things on my mind."

"What kind of things."

"Nothing in particular."

"Elizabeth, come on you can tell me."

"I overheard something I wasn't supposed to hear."

"What are you talking about?"

"I overheard Tonya talking to Claire."

"So-"

"So Tonya made it very clear in the conversation that she's using you Lucky."

"I don't believe this."

"Neither did I at first but she just kept going on and on-"

"No, I can't believe you Elizabeth. Why are you telling me this?"

"I thought you should know Lucky. I mean this is about you and your girlfriend."

"Number one my personal life is none of your business and second of all where do you go off telling the truth."

"Lucky, I've always told you the truth."

"Mayb,e but everything about you doesn't fit. I come to town and you irritate me but then suddenly your my best friend and everybody's that close to me's loved one."

"Lucky, I'm not lying about this and what exactly are you getting at."

"I'm getting at the fact that ever since you've come into town my life has been turned upside down."

"First of all, I live here. You're the one who came into town and busted up my life. I never drank or almost drowned before you came into town."

"You know what? I thought we were beginning to be friends but I can see that I was wrong."

"Wouldn't be the first time."

"I don't need your stupid art lessons there are plenty of people in this town who would love to help me. For free. Oh and PS Elizabeth, you used me or have we forgotten."

"When was this fantasy of yours?"

"Please, would you have gone to that party with me had I not been friends with Claire. I'm the one who got this gallery started, without me you'd be nothing."

"Yeah, well I thought I was getting through to you because Em told me it's hard for you to let people in but I guess I was wrong. You'll be an alone and pathetic old has been who never let go of his dead fiance."

"Don't you bring Cindy into this."

"Why not? You practically bring her into everything."

"You have no respect."

"Get out of my gallery!"

"My pleasure."

"Fix your own problems before looking at mine."

"Look, get this straight. You're the one with the problems."

"Oh, really and what is that?"

"You are so afraid of getting hurt you won't let another man near you. Tell me you don't think about me when your in bed at night. Can you tell me you don't? Can you?"

"I-I... um-"

"Just what a I thought."

"You're afraid too, Lucky. Of moving on, so take a lesson."

"I'm outta here."

"Too bad I kicked you out about 5 hours ago but your brain didn't register but hey in the land of Lucky Spencer we only listen to Lucky Spencer."

"Get off my case."

"Already have. Lucky who? Just like most of your fans."

"Okay, as of now you're vapor." With that comment Lucky left and Liz threw a clay jar at the door. She stood there and slightly stumbled. Then, she brushed her hair out of her face and started to cry but Frank called her before she could let out a sob. She brushed the tears away and went straight to work.

Lucky was a whole other story. He couldn't believe what Liz told him. He couldn't believe someone was taking advantage of him. He could see it a mile away. He usually wasn't dense. He didn't know why he snapped at her. He started to walk back and he peeked into the window. Liz didn't even look sad she looked the same working hard.

"She couldn't care less." He walked down the street suddenly changing his pace faster and faster until he couldn't catch his breath. He found himself in front of Claire's art studio. He walked in and found himself face to face with Tonya. He cupped her face with his hands and then kissed her passionately.

"Lucky, settle down. What was that for, sweetie pie?" Tonya said catching her breath.

"Because I love you."

"You love me?"

"Of course."

"Oh, I love you, too, honey."

She hugged him and bounced up and down while Lucky just hugged her. He didn't feel love for her but his spite and anger towards Liz was so intense he couldn't fathom not meaning what he said.

"Well, I-uh-I uh, really do love you."

"Oh, Lucky, you are the best guy in the universe. Let's go out to celebrate."

"How about Eli's?"

"That little quait joint in the bad part of town."

"Yeah."

"Well, honey I just think it would be better if we celebrated in a special place. Like the Rainbow Room."

"That is not in the nieghborhood."

"I know," Tonya said twisting his shirt and running her hand down his chest, "but if we could honey it would mean a lot."

"Whatever you want." Lucky said. He grabbed her hand and they headed for the limo.

Liz had plans with Emily later that evening. They meet at the Outback.

"Sorry I'm late Liz, I just had to buy these shoes I saw in the window. I hope you don't mind I brought my cousin Chloe along."

"Hello, Elizabeth, I'm Chloe. I just love your art work."

"Well, I love your dresses." Liz said with a polite smile. She was hoping to talk to Emily alone about Lucky.

"I hope you don't mind, Elizabeth." Chloe said.

"No, of course not. The more the merrier." Liz said.

"Well, excuse me for being so forward but you seem to be distressed." Chloe said.

"It's just friend problems nothing that can't be fixed."

"Is it Lucky, Liz?" Emily said.

"You mean that charming young man I met. He is very handsome." Chloe said.

"Don't get any ideas, Chloe. I've been trying to set them up for the past couple of days." Emily said.

"Oh, Emily, you know I'm in love with Jax." Chloe said.

"You're dating The Jasper Jax?" Liz asked.

"Actually, I'm engaged to The Jasper Jax." Chloe giggled out.

"Congrats to you both. Wow, an Austrailian Hottie how exciting." Liz said.

"Jax is the best. But you must tell me about this Lucky Spencer."

"Lucky and I are kind of not speaking to each other ever again." Liz said.

"Liz, what happened?" Em asked.

"Um, I think I'm going to freshen up in the bathroom." Chloe said.

"You don't need to go, Chloe. It's fine, really." Liz said "Will you stay for me?" Chloe nodded her head. Liz started to explain her story and before she knew it her eyes started to tear up. She couldn't believe Lucky had said any of those things to her and she had said things back.

"It seems you two had become great friends." Chole said.

"Yeah, he was my first best friend. I mean, I could talk to him about anything and I just can't believe he couldn't believe me." Liz said.

"Lucky has changed from 8 years ago. He used to be so open and so loyal. The changes he's been through. I don't even know the new Lucky." Emily said.

"Sounds like you should try talking to someone who does know the new Lucky. Maybe you'd understand him more. Someone who talked to him before and after Cindy's accident." Chloe said.

"My cousin the absolute genius. That's perfect and I know just who to call." Emily said.

"What's the point I don't want to be friends with someone who doesn't trust me. Thanks for trying to cheer me up you guys I think I just need some time alone." Liz said as she exited dinner.

"I hope she's okay." Chloe said.

"She's strong. She will be." Emily said.

Liz walked out into the cold and shivered. She grabbed her scarf and started to walk towards Luke's.

Lucky was trying to concentrate on Tonya but he couldn't. She was going on and on about some shoes or something or other. He just couldn't help feeling bad about Liz. Since Cindy died he shut himself off from the rest of the world. Only select friends who helped him move on with life and using his pain in his songs were able to speak with him. Especially Denise Danner, Cindy's older sister. She's the one who got him singing in the first place. She was like a big sister to him. Lucky couldn't remember the rest of the night. He dropped Tonya off at home and he just starred at the portriat Liz drew of Cindy.

Liz tighted the hold on her jacket. She decided she couldn't see Luke and Laura right now they would just try and confort her like Emily and Chloe. It wouldn't help. A shiver was sent down her spine and she spun her head around. What happened next would change her, forever.

"Lizziebeth?"

"Todd?"

Chapter 13:

"What are you doing here Todd?"

"I came to see you Lizziebeth."

"Todd look now is not the best time for you to come waltzing back into my life."

"I want you back."

"It can't happen Todd."

"Why not?"

"Because you cheated on me."

"Oh that."

"Oh that." Liz said sarcastically.

Todd sat down on the bench and Liz scooted further away from him.

"Well I was hoping you kind of forgot about that."

"That's the first time I punched somebody, I remember."

"I know I have no right to come back into your life but I can't help the fact that I still love you."

"Todd you don't know what love is, let alone love me."

"Lizziebeth-"

"And another thing I'm not 6 years old so you can stop calling me that."

"I'm sorry, Liz. I just thought you always liked that."

"Well I'm not as naive and stupid as you are. I'm sorry that might have sounded harsh but my life has just been turned upside down for the past 4 days."

"I heard about your dip in the lake. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, just a scratch."

"It doesn't look like just a scracth."

"I'm fine. I'm sick of telling people I'm fine."

"Well at least your bandage is off."

"How did you know I had a bandage."

"I saw you in your studio earlier."

"You saw my studio?"

"Yeah it looks terrific."

"Thanks. It's ironic I'm sitting on the same bench I came to after we broke up."

"Yeah I remember."

"You were watching me?"

"I came after you to explain."

"Explain why you cheated on me?"

"I know it sounds strange but it was because I wanted to test our relationship."

"Why? I thought we were perfect."

"That's why because I've never believed in perfect until I met you."

"I never believed I could fall in love until I met you."

"Does this mean we can start over?"

"How about we start with being friends?"

"I'd like that."

He held out his hand and Liz was hesistant but then she put her hand in his. She started to laugh and they walked hand in hand off together. Lucky heard a knock on his door. He answered and was face and face with his father.

"Hey Cowboy where is the old ball and chain." Luke said as he entered looking for Liz.

"You mean Elizabeth?"

"Of course my princess. Princess! Princess! Come out come out whereever you are."

"Your wasting your breath dad she isn't here."

"Well, aren't we cheery today."

"I thought Elizabeth and I were beginning to get along and she was acting like my best friend. Then she turned on me. She lied to me she said that Tonya was taking advantage of me and then she went off on me I went off on her-"

"Never try and match tempers with that little fireball. Trust me I know."

"Learned the hard way huh."

"And you wonder how I ever quit smoking stogies. Let's just say she "convinced" me."

"She seems to have good intentions."

"Because she does Cowboy. She tuff on the outside but she's a soft cookie on the inside. She's like your Aunt Ruby."

"Dad she's not that tough."

"Nobody is as tough as the old Rub. Now during your ramblings I happened to catch something about Elizabeth lying to you."

"She said Tonya was only using me because of my money."

"Tonya the blonde bombshell."

"Yeah, her. Well, Elizabeth and I just started going off at each other and everything turned into one giant mess." Lucky sat down and rubbed his hand in his hair while his head was between his knees. Sighs escaped from his mouth. Luke picked up some scotch and then slammed it down.

"Let me tell you this Cowboy. You and Elizabeth remind me of me and your mother. We were from different worlds, different people, but somehow we managed not to kill each other."

"What does this have to do with me?"

"Just listen Cowboy. Lucky, my princess has always had the best intentions. She's like your mother, innocent, fiery. You have to understand that she would never ever harm anyone that she loves. Well, except that Todd guy but you would punch out your cheating lover too so don't turn this around on her. Up until A.T., after Todd, she was the most trusting person. She even went to the slammer to help convicts out. Now it takes her some time to build up that trust but she has it in her. Did she do the spaghetti test on you?"

"The spaghetti test?"

"Well she comments on how her cooking is bad and if you at least try it she'll trust you. Very obsurd your mother taught her the trick. She uses it."

"I passed the test."

"She trusted you Cowboy and I don't think she would lie. Think about this after all the blondie ( I always feel as though that is an offense to blondes but it isn't. I love blondes and only one person doesn't pass the smart blonde test in my book. Trust me she thinks like is spelled lick.) needs money to keep those two hundred pairs of shoes she has. Lucky your a smart boy but the women you date lack, well, intellect. To them smart is a four letter word."

"You mean fame?"

"I mean they think it's spelled smar." Lucky started to laugh and Luke let out a chuckle. "I'd go talk with princess my boy, you'll never know."

"I just want to make this decision on my own."

"I respect that. But remember not everybody is out to get you."

"I'm paranoid. I get that from you. Listen thanks for the old father son chat but I think I'm going to split."

"Remember what I said."

"I never forgot." Lucky waved and left.

"I hope so, son." Luke said while setting down his drink.

~*~To Liz~*~

"Todd, no way, you were roadie for Green Day. That is incredible."

"You really changed my life Liz. I mean I'm realizing my dreams now. I'm this close to roadie for Lucky Spencer as soon as his tour rolls."

"Wow, Lucky Spencer." Liz said flatly."

"You don't like his music?"

"It's okay I guess."

"I think it's great. It's really balanced you know something for guys something for girls. When I roadie I've got to introduce you to him. He's really nice."

"Trust me, I don't need to meet him."

"If you don't want to that's fine. I'm glad your talking with me. This place Kelly's is great. Who runs it?"

"I do bucko." Ruby said as she walked by. "Lizzie, dear, is this young man bothering you."

"No Ruby, he's not, but thanks. Your coffee is great and I love seeing you." Liz said.

"Come by for some food. I can almost see through you." Ruby said.

"I will don't worry about it."

"You have fun tonight, honey." Rub said.

"Nice to meet you, Ruby." Todd said. Ruby just made one of her classic faces at Todd and walked away. "She has a cheery disposition."

"She just doesn't like the guys I date."

"Are we dating?"

Just then Lucky walked in. Lucky and Liz locked eyes. Lucky stood frozen. "Come on Todd let's get out of here."

"Is something wrong?" Todd asked.

"Nothing, I'm fine."

Liz was walking out when Lucky grabbed her arm and stopped her. "Can we talk?"

"Look, Lucky, I'm in the middle of something right now and you're the last person I want to talk to."

"Liz, are you coming?" Todd said.

"In a second, Todd." Liz responded.

"Please, Elizabeth." Lucky said.

"Fine, Lucky. Todd, could I talk to you tomorrow?"

"Sure whatever you want Liz. Goodnight." Todd says as he kisses her on the cheek. She smiles warmly at him while Lucky is slightly irritated.

"Now what do you want to talk about?" Liz asked as Lucky and her got confertable at a table at Kellys.

Chapter 14:

~*~Chloe and Emily at the Quartermaine Mansion~*~

"Chloe, that is a stuning wedding dress." Em said.

"You don't think it's a little too-"

"No, it's absolutely perfect. So, the wedding it's soon? Oh, a Christmas wedding - that is so romantic."

"It was Jax's idea, a romantic at heart."

"I wish he would influence Lucky to go after Liz."

"Oh, those two would make an excellent couple. How about this, the wedding is in two weeks, ask Lucky if he would like to preform for me and Jax."

"He'd love to do that. After all, Jax is an old dear friend."

"You haven't heard part two of my plan. I'll invite Liz. Maybe she can paint a picture for Jax and myself. She's a charming and wonderful girl and to convince me completely they are right for each other I have have to see them dance together. I know that sounds silly but I fell in love with Jax when we danced together."

"It's not silly at all, but how are you going to get them to dance together."

"Just leave that to Jax and me. I can convince him to do anything."

"They're all yours."

"I think I have just the plan."

~*~To Liz and Lucky.~*~

"Look, Lucky ,I'm tired and I want to get home and your actually the last person I want to talk to right now so if you could hurry this up I'd appreciate it."

"Well, Ms. Sunshine ,if you would shut your mouth for two seconds I could talk to you."

"I'm all ears."

"Look, I had a talk with my dad about you."

"So?"

"So, I feel bad about what happened Elizabeth. I'm sorry for saying those things about you."

"I'm sorry, too. It's just I don't think I can be really good friends with someone who doesn't trust me."

"I just talked to Tonya today and I still don't think she's using me. After all, she just told me she loved me."

"Wow, congrats, now can I leave?"

"I just want things to be okay with us again. My dad told me about how it's hard for you to trust people-"

"Look if you love Luke's advice so much why don't you just talk to him about me forever. That way we wouldn't have to talk to each other."

"Elizabeth, please."

"Look Lucky, trust is very important to me and when it's broken it's hard to get back."

"But it only took Todd what 4 minutes?"

"Todd's not you."

"So these rules only apply to me. I don't think I even want to be in a friendship with you anymore. Your temper is almost as bad as- as bad as-"

"Your own. You've finally met your match Lucky Spencer. By the way, Todd is none of your business." Liz said as she slammed her fist down on the table and left Kellys.

"Dammit." Lucky said.

"Take that language out of my establishment." Ruby said.

"Hey Aunt Ruby, I've missed you." Lucky said while hugging his aunt.

"Doesn't seem like it. When is the last time you called?"

"I've been busy, my album is climbing the charts."

"Always something. How do you know Elizabeth?"

"Long story."

"I don't have patience for long stories. You know Lucky she's a very pretty girl and intelligent-"

"I get it. Everyone tells me how wonderful she is but you know what? I don't see it. How come she doesn't act this way with me?"

"Ask yourself why you're different when you're with her." Ruby advised as she went back into the kitchen.

"Todd," Elizabeth said as she went outside.

"I was worried about you that guy looked like trouble. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine Todd, really."

"Can I walk you home?" Todd asked.

"I'd like that."

Lucky left Kelly's at that moment and saw Liz and Todd laughing and walking off together. He tighted his jacket and walked home in the cold. He sat in front of the fireplace. He had to ask Tonya. He went to Claire's gallery where she was working that night. He heard her talking and decided to wait outside until she was done.

"Yeah Sheri, can you believe it. I tricked my Aunt Claire into thinking I'm not using Lucky Spencer. I mean come on he's a washout but a millionaire."

"A washout, huh?" Lucky asked as he stepped into her office and took her phone. "Sheri, she'll have to to call you back."

"Lucky, let me explain."

"I can't believe this Elizabeth was right this entire time. I'm such a dunce. I can't believe I actually trusted you more than her."

"Gosh, you can't stop talking about her. I don't like competing with commoners."

"Then let me make it easy, she wins. You're offcially dumped."

"Lucky Spencer, you won't get away with this."

"If you come in an inch of me and the society papers will do something that you'll regret for the rest of your life."

"Oh, I'll get you back you pig."

"Try me." Lucky hissed as he excited the office. He called a cab and rode the elevator up to his apartment. Someone was already up there waiting for him. Somebody with a mission.

Chapter 15:

Lucky creeped into his apartment unaware someone else was inside.

"Boo!" someone shouted. Lucky screamed. "You scream just like a girl, Spencer."

"Denise? Is that you? You scared the crap out of me."

"Didn't expect old D.D. to come in when her almost brother-in-law is hurting?"

"You guessed it." He hugged her. "So how have you been?"

"Touring with Lilith Fair, you know, the life of a rock star." she said.

"A rock star? Please, for me it's like falling star. I mean people who walk by me make wishes for heaven sakes."

"Hey look, Denise Danner is here for you. Use me." then she noticed the portrait of Cindy on the wall in a frame. "Where did you get that?"

"An artist painted it for me. Isn't it amazing? I forgot how much you look like her."

"I know, beauty runs in the family and all. You still miss her don't you."

"Don't you?"

"Of course, but I realized that you can't hold on to the past or you'll be stuck there."

"I wouldn't mind staying back in the good old days."

"Lucky you're in your mid-twenties and already your acting like a bitter 40-year-old. Get over it."

"Always to the point, D.D."

"I know it's a talent only I can have. So Emily told me a story of this famous rock star who came back home and found a best friend. Let's call her Elizabeth. Then you went and trusted a bimbo blonde bombshell over this terrfic wonderful artist."

"She told you the whole story?"

"Pretty much."

"So you flew here to get some sense into me."

"Just about."

"What else?"

"To catch up with you. Your like a brother to me Lucky. I've known you through just about everything. You even started my music career, so you better open up to me."

"Seems like a lot of people want me to do that these days. You ever wake up scared that you forgot something? I mean, you just don't want to forget? I don't know what I'm talking about."

"Wanna get something to eat?"

"I know what you want."

"Oh who could forget my Rubio's fish taco obsession (private joke: there you go Denise it's your encouragement). Why don't you talk to me while we go around that deranged head of yours."

"Thank you. I love knowing I'm slightly insane. So where are you staying?"

"I don't know. You know I'm not used to living alone."

"I can take a hint. Live here." he said.

"Oh thank you darling. Now about this problem. Does it have to do with Elizabeth?"

"It's everything. It's nothing."

"Come on Lucky."

"It's your sister."

"Cindy."

"It was like there was this part of me that died when she left. I just couldn't take it anymore."

"Take what."

"People."

"Come on Lucky, you're the hottest rock star ever and you have about 5 million girls hanging all over you. How could you not like people?"

"I'd give it all back to have her back."

"Lucky, you're holding onto the past you have to let that part of you go. You think Cindy would want you to be like this?"

"She brought out the artist in me. The creativity I used to have."

"Come on let me read some off your songs you've written since then."

"Why read my songs?"

"To read you. That's the only way you'll open up these days."

"Thank you, Fraiser."

"No problem. Now come on give them up."

"Fine, Dr. Ruth."

"Now she was a sex doctor." Lucky just raised his eyebrows at her as he pulled out his most recent song. "Lucky this is the most fantastic song you've ever written."

"You think?"

"Please ,whatever you were doing when you wrote this song keep on doing it."

"I can't."

"What do you mean you can't unless it's.... Oh, Elizabeth, right?"

"She is so infuriating but she was like a best friend. Like no other."

"Look, dweeb, there is only one solution here. Get her back."

"I tried to be civil."

"Lucky, did I ever tell you about my experience with trust."

"I think you're about to."

"All I have to tell you about it is to do it. Let yourself go. I know it's hard to trust anyone after the one you love is gone, but trust friends."

"That's it."

"What? I'm hungry. I can't give advice on an empty stomach."

"How about some spaghetti? I have some that Elizabeth made."

"Somebody can't stop talking about Elizabeth. I wonder what he should do."

"I already tried talking to her."

"When you brought up the ex-boyfriend you so didn't help. You need to do more than that."

"What do you suggest?"

"Well, I haven't been to a wedding in while and I heard you don't have a date."

"Would you like to come with me to Jax and Chole's wedding?"

"I thought you'd never ask."

~*~ To Liz and Tood~*~

"Thanks for tonight, Todd. You helped me get things into perspective."

"Just glad to help."

"Look, um, I'm really glad I met up with you tonight." Liz said as she kissed him on the cheek. They lingered for a second and then they started to kiss. More and more they became more passionate. Then later Liz broke it off. "I'll call you." she said smiling.

"I love you, Lizzie Webber."

"I'll see you later Todd."

Liz leaned up against her door. She sighed. It was a happy sigh, that was until she remembered Lucky Spencer existed. He ruined her perfectly wonderful evening. Todd was more settled the way she wished he would be. This time everything would be different. She swore it to herself.
