| Chapter 6: Joe sat next to Elizabeth, he held her hand in his. Tears were in his eyes. Lucky was standing outside watching Elizabeth breathing. His mind was starting to know what his heart knew--he was still in love with her. Emily walked up to Lucky, "So should I call my parents and tell them the weddings off?" "What?" He asked turning to look at her. "Lucky, your still in love with her. She's still in love with you." She said as she slipped the ring off her finger and took Lucky's hand and placed the ring in his palm. "Emily--" He started to say and she smiled at him. "You want the truth? I've kinda been in love with this one guy since College and he just showed up in town. I think I need to tell him." She said with tears in her eyes. She walked away. A few hours later Lucky was alone with a comatose Elizabeth. "Please Liz, wake up. I love you. I need you, please don't leave me." He begged. Elizabeth's eyes fluttered open and Lucky continued to proclaime his love. he took her hand in his and expected it to be limp. Except she sqeezed his hand. He jumped up and looked at her. "Elizabeth! your awake! Don't say anything just sqeeze my hand once for yes and twice for no. Understand?" She gave him one sqeeze. "Does your head hurt?" one sqeeze. "Do you feel dizzy?" two sqeezes. "Will you marry me?" none. "Liz, will you marry me?" Elizabeth laid there shocked finally she sqeezed his hand once. |
