Face of Love-The Wedding

By: Jule Anders

Until tonight, my heart was just half-full.
I'd never known the fruit which fed the soul.
but now I see what may put to rest my longing

This was it.  It was the day of Liz and Lucky's wedding.

"Lizzie?  Are you up?" Sarah called.

"Yeah!" Liz yelled back from her room.

"Good, we have to get to the salon in an hour."  She said as she stepped into Elizabeth's room.

"How long do you think it'll take?"

"Oh, about an hour or two."  Sarah said, as though she had gone through it millions of times.

"I won't be able to sit still."  Liz whined.

"Well, we'll make you.  Emily is coming in half an hour, and so are the bodyguards.  Your friends Taylor and Eric are flying in from
Salem, and will be here in an hour."

"Wow, you're like my personal secretary."

"Well, for my wedding, you tried being mine, and it was a mess.  Fun, but a mess.  I'm just returning the favour, just doing it a lot
better."
Liz laughed.

"It's nice to hear you laugh Liz, and if Lucky can make you stay like this, I couldn't be more happier.  Oh, and Laura is coming in ten
minutes, so get changed.  Gram made breakfast."

"Thanks a lot Sarah, I'll see you in a bit." Liz said, as Sarah left the room.
Elizabeth sat up in bed, and thought of the day when Lucky proposed.

************

He had asked Ruby to have Kelly's open for the night, so he could have dinner with Elizabeth alone, and of course, it was all a surprise
for Liz.

"Can I open my eyes now?" Liz asked.

"No, not yet." Lucky answered as he lit the candles.

"Now?"

"Elizabeth Webber, you just gotta be patient."

"Now?"

"Okay, okay." he said.  As she opened her eyes, she gasped.  It was a candlelit dinner for two.

"Lucky, it's perfect... who'd you get help from?"

"My mom." he confessed.

"Well good for you for going to the right person."  Liz said, kissing him lightly on the lips.  He had finally found peace with his
parents.  His father leaving, helped Lucky to deal with his mother.

"Now, before dinner, I must have a dance."   Lucky said.

"Whatever you say."
He held her close as they swayed to the song.

"What's the special occasion Lucky?  It's not everyday you bring me to an empty Kelly's with a romantic dinner, that you had to go to
your mom's for help.  Did I miss a birthday, or something?"

"No, it's just Kelly's.  You know the romance capital of the world?  Where we fell in love?  Where I proposed?"

"Lucky, what are you saying?"

"Elizabeth, will you marry me?"

*****************

Elizabeth shook out of her memory, when she heard a knock on her window.

"Lucky!  It's bad luck to see each other before the wedding."

"Elizabeth, with a name like Lucky, I don't think I could ever get bad luck.  I just missed you, you know."

"Yeah, I missed you too." She said putting her arms around him.

"How did you get away from Nikolas?"

After they were thrown together to save Emily, Nikolas and Lucky were closer.

"Emily.  I bribed her to keep Nikolas busy, just so I could see my beautiful bride."

"Yeah, like I'm so beautiful after I wake up."

"To me you are."

"Thanks." she said giving him a kiss.

"Liz?  Lizzie!"  Sarah called, "Laura and LuLu are here!"

"Oh shoot, I gotta go. Do you think you can somehow save me from going to the salon?"

"No, Emily would kill me.  I promised I wouldn't, because she knew you'd ask.  That was the bargain."

"Well then, you just promise to somehow sneak over to me, got it?"

"Got it.  I love you."

"I love you too."  she replied.   He kissed her hand, and left through the window.

For I have seen
The face of love
The grace of God.
The face of love.

Elizabeth, Sarah, Emily, Laura and LuLu, were all waiting for the arrival of Taylor and Eric.  From the kitchen, Elizabeth heard the
doorbell ring.

"I'll get it!" she said, with Emily and Sarah behind her.
She opened the door and hugged her two friends.

"I've missed you guys!"

"Wow, Lizzie, you're actually getting married!"  Eric said twirling her around.  Eric and Elizabeth had actually met in Colorado.  He was
older, and was considered to Liz, a big brother.

"Liz, did you know that there are guys hanging around your house?"
Taylor asked.   Liz laughed, and said, "Bodyguards, just in case."

"Are you girls ready to go?"  Laura asked entering the room, Liz nodded,  "Eric, Lucky'll be here to pick you up.   See ya."  she said
giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.  The whole gang of girls left, as Eric sat on the couch, and began to remember his meeting with
Liz and Lucky in Salem.

********************

It was 10 at night, and Eric had just gotten back from a date with Nicole.  There was a knock on the door.  He opened to find
Elizabeth Webber with a bag hung over her shoulder, appearing to look like she hadn't slept in days,

"Miss me Brady?"

"Liz!"  He said taking her bag, "Come in."

"Thanks, did you get my message?"

"Yeah, I don't mind if you stay here, but you did promise to tell me what was going on, and you will tell me right?"

"Yeah, I uh, ran away from Port Charles.   No one there knows where I am, and neither do my parents and Sarah."

"Elizabeth!  Was there something wrong?"

"Uh, can we talk about this tomorrow?  I'm really tired."

"Yeah, sure.  we'll talk later.   You're room is the first door to the left."

"Thanks Eric, I owe you."

Later that night, he heard screams and cries coming from Liz's room.  he made a mad dash and found her having a nightmare.

"Liz, Lizzie, wake up.  Wake up."   He said.
She slowly opened her eyes, as though she was afraid of what might be there, "Lucky?"  she called out, "No, it's me, Eric.  Liz, what
happened in Port Charles?"

"Eric?"

"Yeah, you're in Salem, remember?"

"Oh yeah."

"Who's Lucky?"

"My best friend.  He helped me after he found me in the park."

"Liz, I don't understand."

"It happened a year ago, on Valentine's, or the night of my school dance.  I, uh, was going to go to the dance with Lucky as friends,
but he decided to go with Sarah instead.  And since Gram had gone out to buy a new red dress for me, I decided not to tell her.  So I
told Lucky I was going to the dance with some guy at school, and caught a movie instead.   The movie ended, and the dance was still
going on, so I couldn't go home, and I went to the park, to finish my popcorn.  I'd always thought that the park was safe, but then he
grabbed me, and he dragged me to the bushes, and he...." Elizabeth broke off crying.

"Oh... no.. he..." Eric trailed off knowing what happened, and pulled Liz into a hug.

************

It had hit Eric pretty hard, because his twin sister, Sami had been raped too, but Liz... she was so young.  He never really heard much
of Lucky, Liz had never really talked about him, except for when she called his name in the night.  She had actually stayed in Salem
for two months, she befriended Taylor, who worked for the cleaning service at Titan.   Liz had gotten a job at Titan too, refusing to be
a waitress, because it was too public.  Then Lucky came...

************

They had just came back from a party.  Austin and Carrie's little daughter Anna, had just turn one.  Liz went into her room to sleep,
"I've never been crowded by so many people." she had told him when they arrived at the party.  Eric was just about to go to sleep,
when someone knocked on his door.  He opened it to find a sixteen year old boy, like Elizabeth's age, looking frantic,

"Is she here?"  he asked

"Who?"  Eric replied cautiously.

"Elizabeth.  Is she here?  Please say she is, I've been looking for her for months."

"What made you come here?"

"Sarah said you lived here, and that Elizabeth knew you... so she's here?"

"Are you Lucky?"  Eric suddenly asked.

"Yeah, that's me.  Did Elizabeth tell you about me?"

"Only that you're her friend...  what was so bad that Liz had to runaway from?  I know she was raped, but there's something else isn't
there, something that had to do with you..." Eric said as he invited Lucky in.   Lucky sat on the couch, "I don't know... one day we were
spending the night in the boxcar, and the next, she was gone...  she never saw me before she left, probably because I would of known
what she was thinking of."

"So you two were going out."

"No, actually we weren't.."

"But you do like her, I can tell."

"Elizabeth, she's... she's special, and caring, and beautiful... and thoughtful, and she's the whole world to me.  Sarah's at home
worried sick, same with her grandmother.  Both of my aunts are worried, and I'm...."

"She's in the room first door to the left."  Lucky nodded and thanked him.

*******************************

"Eric?" a voice snapped him back to reality.

"Oh hey Lucky, good to see you."

"Good to see you too, so, how are you?" he asked, as they walked to Lucky's jeep.

"Great."  Eric answered sitting in the back seat.

"Oh, Eric, this is my brother Nikolas."

"Hey."  Eric greeted, "Where are we off to?"

"Getting the tuxes.  My dad will meet us there.  You have no idea how excited he is.  He's walking Elizabeth down the aisle, since her
own father can't.  I wonder how he'll be when LuLu gets married."  Lucky wondered.

"If he lets her." Nikolas added.   They laughed.

In silence, I feared my heart would remain.
Words unheard.  Inside a separateness of skin
but now I know that the skin just veils the soul

Lucky stood in front of the mirror, with his tux on, and realized,

"I'm gonna marry the girl I love and be with her always."  He was only 20, but his parents didn't think it was crazy, unfortunately Liz's did.
He had wanted to make Nikolas his best man, but then decided not to, because that would mean walking down the aisle with Sarah....
his and her relationship was off and on, until she flew back to Europe, and met Danny, and married.  But, they were still weary of each
other, even though Nikolas had Emily now.  His mind traveled back to the day he had kind of stormed into Eric's apartment, looking
for Elizabeth.  Eric had shown him her room, and he quietly entered.

***********************

He stood at the other side of the room, just watching Elizabeth sleep.  He suddenly saw her jerk, and wake up with a cry.  He rushed
to her side,

"Hey, it's okay, it's okay."

"... Eric?"

"Elizabeth, it's me...

"Lucky?  What... what are you doing here?"

"I missed you... not to mention worried sick about you.  You've been gone so long, Elizabeth.  We were all scared to death."

"... Lucky, you should go.  Get out of here.  I'm fine, you see?  I'm not hurt."

"On the outside, no.  But on the inside..." his voice trailed off as he brushed her hair out of her eyes.  She looked away from him.

"Elizabeth... why did you suddenly leave?"

"I just had to Lucky, can't you just accept that?"

"Not without a good explanation that would make sense.  Ever since you left, nothing makes sense anymore."

"Lucky, I just...."

"What, Elizabeth?  Tell me.  Was it me?  Did I do something wrong?"

"No, no.  You couldn't possibly, you know that."

"Then what.. tell me, I can make it better."

"Damn it Lucky, why do you have to be so good to me?!  Huh?  I don't deserve you, as a friend, or even a best.  Why do you always have

to know, and understand, and why are you always there to help me?!  Why do you have to care so much?!"

"Elizabeth.. I care, because you're special."  Lucky told her.

"Why, because I was raped?!"

"If you weren't raped---"

"Then you wouldn't have taken a second glance at me."

"Elizabeth, why are you saying all of this?"

"I'm sorry."  she said trying to calm herself down, "I'm sorry."
She looked at him, straight in the eye, and said, "It's just with everything that happened, after everything we've been through, I just
had to run away.  From you..."

"Me?!  Elizabeth, you said I didn't do anything wrong.."

"And you didn't Lucky.  Trust me.   It's me, okay?"  she paused, biting her lip, as though trying to make a decision.

"I.... I fell in love.  With you."

"Elizabeth..."

"I know, it's hopeless, and so out of line, that even I didn't believe it myself.  And--"

"Elizabeth."

"What?"  Liz asked, looking away from him.

He cupped her chin in his hands, and looked at her beautiful face,

"I love you."

*****************************************

"Lucky,  I.... you're remembering aren't you?"  Eric said walking up to him.

"Yeah.  I, uh, didn't get to ask you, but how is your family?"

"Better.  Much better.  You should see Will and Anna, they're adorable."

"Yeah, I remember."

"Hey. Lucky.  Luke is finally here."   Nikolas said, with Luke behind him.

"So, cowboy, how nervous are you?"

For I have seen
The face of love
The grace of God.
The face of love.

Elizabeth sat down, in between Sarah, and Emily.   Taylor had just gotten her short hair curled up, and was keeping a restless LuLu
company.

"Is it time for the wedding yet?"   she asked

"No, Lesley Lu.  I told you a few minutes ago, the wedding's not for another two hours." Laura said.

"I don't think I can wait that long."   she told her mother.  Laura laughed.

"I wished my parents her here.  They were there for your wedding,"  Liz told Sarah, "But of course, they always did like you better."

"My wedding was in Europe, Lizzie.  It was convenient for them."

"Right, sure."

"'Lizabeth, are you going to be in the hospital again, like the last time you got dressed up?"  LuLu suddenly asked worriedly.
Elizabeth was surprised at what she had said, because she had thought that she didn't remember it.

There was a party, and it was in honour of Elizabeth coming home.  It was held at Luke's.  A first sign of Luke and Lucky building their
relationship back.  She remembered that she wore a light purple satin dress, and she wasn't even cold in the night, since it was
summer.  She didn't even know all of the people there, but she remembered that the whole Spencer family was there.  And Nikolas,
Emily, Sarah, Danny, Alexis, Ned, Jason, Robin, Carly, Bobbie, Jerry, Felicia, Mac, V, Jax, Lucy, Kevin, and even Ruby.  It wasn't totally
in honour of Liz, but Luke kept insisting it was, but Liz knew that all of those people wouldn't have shown. L&B were promoting a new
artist, so that was a reason too.
Most of the night, she stayed in Lucky's protective arms.

***************************************

"Emily, you look great."

"So do you Liz, I really did miss you.   After all the adventures we were in?  Who wouldn't?"
Liz smiled, as she saw Sarah enter with Danny.

Nikolas, who was beside Emily, glanced too, and asked, "Who's she with?"

"Someone she met in Europe.  I'm suppose to be getting to know him, before they might consider tying the knot, but so far, Sarah's

been hogging him."  Liz said.

"Hi guys."  Sarah said, "Liz, Gram said that she had to work tonight, and will be home late."

"Okay."

The music was great, and Elizabeth remembered dancing to the most gorgeous songs ever, with Lucky.

"You promise that you'll never leave me?   And if you get scared, you'll tell me?"

"Yeah."  she said leaning her head onto his shoulder.

"You miss Salem?"

They had stayed in Salem for an extra few months, to spend time together, alone.

"I missed here."  Liz said.

********************************************

An hour later, as Lucky drove to the church, he remembered also, the big party at Luke's.  It was a terrifying day.  Just the night
before, Liz had told Lucky that she had a talk with her sister and parents.

"They think you're dangerous to me, because you work for Jason Morgan."

"Well, Jason always guaranteed that we're in no harm."

"I know, I believe you, but I wished they did too."

As the party broke, Lucky and Liz waited outside, for one of Jason's cars to come.  He had arranged for a driver to pick them up.

"Lucky."  A voice called to him.   It was his mother.

"I'm gonna go wait in the car."  Liz said.  Lucky nodded, and watched her walk, but then stop to talk to Bobbie.

"Yeah?" he asked his mother, who also had LuLu in her arms.

"I just wanted to thank you.  As much as I missed you those months you were gone in Salem with Elizabeth, I'm grateful because you
found peace with yourself, and us, and found love with Liz."

"Thanks mom."

"Anytime."

"Lucky, are you coming home tonight?"   LuLu asked.
Lucky smiled and glanced at Elizabeth who walked away from Bobbie, and started walking to the car.  He waved to her, and she
stopped to wave back.  As she started to walk again, he caught something shiny on the car.  He knew that that didn't belong there,
because he had washed this car many times.  He quickly ran, as fast as he could to Elizabeth.  She stopped where she was, which
was quite close to the car, with a confused look on her face.  He caught up to her, and in one movement
carried her away from the car, but he wasn't quick enough.  The car blew up, and Lucky and Liz both fell to the ground.

"Elizabeth!"  he heard Sarah cry.   Nikolas tried to hold her back, but Sarah kept fighting.

"Let go of me Nikolas... Elizabeth!"   she cried.

Lucky lifted Liz's body and held it close to him.

"Call 911."  Bobbie ordered, and knelt down beside the two.
Elizabeth was still unconscious when the ambulance came, but when he was finally allowed to see her, in the hospital room, she told
him,

"See?  I kept my promise, I never left you.  Never."

***********************************************

Elizabeth sat on the bench, just outside of the church doors, as Emily said.

"Liz, just a quick check...."

"My bracelet is old... gram gave it to me.   The heart necklace?  It's new, Laura gave it to me."

"And she has my butterfly hair pins."   Sarah offered.

"And blue toe nails."  Taylor said pointing to Liz's silver sandals.

"Blue, nail polish?"  Emily asked.

"I knew I would be in such a rush to find something blue, so I just did that.  It's a nice blue."  Liz said smiling.

"Okay, okay, okay.  Just... let's just get you married."

She linked arms with Nikolas, and smiled.

"Liz, sweetheart, you're gonna blow this joint, you know that?"  Luke asked her, with a smile.

"Yeah.  You bet."

So take my hand knowing
With it I also give my heart wanting
never to be separate again...
Let eternity begin

The wedding bells rang, as Lucky stood in the front of the church.
Danny, who was his best man said, "You ready?"

"Yeah.  More than ever."
The music began to play, and Lucky watched as Nikolas and Emily walked down the aisle, then Eric and Taylor, then LuLu, dropping
flower petals on the floor .  As the doors opened wider, he saw Elizabeth.
She looked absolutely beautiful.  'Like an angel sent down from heaven.' he thought.   She wore a simple white dress.  Even now, so
long after the rape, she didn't like dressing up too much.  The dress, was however, similar to the dress Felicia Scorpio wore, just
white, with silver flower designs on it.  Luke walked Liz down with great joy.
As he was about to give Liz to Lucky, he told her, "You make him sparkle like a jewel.  You know that?"  And with that, he kissed her
on the cheek, then brought her veil back down.
Elizabeth smiled, and took Lucky's hand.  And then the ceremony started.

If you were flame, I'd allow myself to be consumed completely
Were you the wind, I would wish you to pass through me.
For now I know that the skin veils the soul

Lucky turned to Liz, and took a gold band, and told her,

"Elizabeth, I promise you that I will love you forever.  To have and to hold; for better, for worse; for richer, for poorer; in sickness and
in health; til death do us part, I'll love you always.  You're my angel Elizabeth, and you'll always will be my angel."
He slid the ring onto her finger, as they beamed with happiness.

"Lucky, I promise you that I'll love you, always, no matter what.  To have and to hold; for better, for worse; for richer, for poorer; in
sickness and in health; til death do us part, You'll have my heart forever.  And you saved me, Lucky.  Did you know that?  Not from
what happened, but from the rest of the world, and I love you.  And like I promised Lucky, I'll never leave you."  Liz slid another ring
onto Lucky's finger.

"I'll never leave you too.  Not even if wild horses come to drag me away, you'll always have me."  Lucky told her.
The minister smiled, and said,

"I present to you now, Mr. and Mrs. Lucky Spencer.  You can kiss now."
Lucky lifted Liz's veil, and kissed her softly, but lovingly on the lips.  As he pulled back, he whispered to her,

"I've been wanting to do that since those doors opened."
Liz just bit her lip and smiled.  The whole room cheered for them, as they walked out of the church, heading towards to the reception.
With the loud cheering in the back round, Lucky told her, "Thank you Elizabeth."

"For what?"

"For being my best friend, and letting me marry you."

"Well, what are friends for?"

"For you and me?  Loving."

"I love you too, Lucky."  Liz said, with a slight laugh.

"Good, cause I love you."

For I have seen
The face of love
The grace of God.
Face of love.
