Angel Standing ByBy: Jule Anders All through the night It was happening again. Elizabeth couldn't sleep. She was yet again afraid to close her eyes, and let her mind wander back to that night. "It doesn't matter anyway, every time I'm alone at night, my mind automatically thinks of awful things." Elizabeth said out loud. But, she couldn't help it. She was alone, and
afraid. So, she laid on her side, wide eyed, and stared off into the air, yet was
concentrating on if her closet would open, "I bet everyone else in Port Charles is
happily sleeping," she thought sadly. She hadn't seen Lucky in a couple days, because
he worked a lot. But she did baby sit "How did you know?" she asked him. All through the night "I, uh, had this feeling. You okay?" "If I could sleep, I think I'd feel up to conquering the world." "Nah, we could do that without
sleep." "So, how've you been?" "Peachy." she replied, flopping on her bed. "Looks like your, uh, teddy bear gets more sleep than you do." he said pointing at Boris. "Well, teddy bears don't exactly have
nightmares, now do they." "Yeah, we're back here, "Liz said, "I'm back to dealing with sleepless nights." "We'll get through it, we always do." "I saw your sister yesterday." "You're changing the subject." "I know, but let me get away with this just once. She seems happy." "Yeah, well, she doesn't know what's going on." "She misses you, you do know that, right?" "I miss her too, but the chances of me seeing her without seeing my mother are slim." "Does that ever stop you?" Liz stood up again, and walked around her room, "I've always wanted a little sister. Not so I could be like Sarah, just so I won't be so lonely." "You're not alone, you know that."
he reassured her. And through bad dreams "Come on, you should sleep, Elizabeth." "I won't be able to." "You're eyes are drooping." "How can you see? It's dark in here." "I just know you, Elizabeth. Besides, whose eye's wouldn't be drooping at 3am in the morning?" "It's three?" "Yeah, now you feeling sleepy?" "No." "You wanna drink a warm glass of milk or something?" "Now you're starting to sound like my grandmother." Liz said getting into bed, "Does it work?" "Does what work?" "A warm glass of milk?" "Giving in to elderly advice?" he asked smiling. "No, I... never mind." He pulled the blankets on her, as she sat up in bed, "Have you heard from your dad?" she
asked softly. And when you cry Lucky sighed, and said "No. Neither has my mother. I'm beginning to wonder if he'll ever come home. Or if he'll run away forever." "I would. Run away, I mean. If I had the chance, I'd be in Canada, or something. It's nice there, or maybe to Florida, and I could hang out with dolphins." "Would that be better company than me?" "Well, they won't talk back." she said. "Hey!" he said tickling her. "Fine, fine, you're better company." she gave in, laughing. "Good." He said, accidentally
dropping Boris, "Whoops, I'll get that." Lucky said, and reached over Liz, to
the floor of the other side of the bed. As he got up, their "Uh, here." he said handing it to her. "Thanks." she said, as Lucky leaned back, beside Liz. "What are you doing tomorrow?" Lucky asked. "Nothing special, Gram's taking me to help with a wedding though, during the afternoon." "So, you're free during the evening?" "Uh huh, why?" "Was wondering if you'd like to come with me to visit LuLu. I wouldn't want to go there alone." "Sure." "Now, get some sleep, or I'll make you try the warm milk." "Gross, okay, I'm sleeping." She said closing her eyes. "Lucky?" she whispered "Yeah?" "Goodnight, and thanks." He wrapped his arms around her, as she leaned on his shoulder, "Goodnight... angel." he replied
softly, closing his eyes. So don't you worry THE END |
