Note:In this story,Lizzie & Juan do not exist,Carly lives with Jason,but was honest about Micheal from the start & shares joint-custody with AJ.Lucky doesn't know about Luke & Laura's dark past,so he still lives at home.Due to the Dorman trial,Monica signed over custody of Emily to Jason when she was 12,and she still lives with him now.


Chapter 1:


Emily walked out onto the docks in quiet contenplation.Lucky had called her to meet about something,but...he had been so vague about it,she didn't have a clue what he wanted.She was so deep in thought,trying to figure it out,that she didn't even notice the dark figure of a man until she bumped into him.

Nikolas:Oh,uh...Emily,right?
Emily:Yeah...and,you're Nikolas.
Nikolas:(smiling)That's right...Hey,I was just headed out to this place Kelly's for some lunch,if you'd like to join me?
Lucky:(coming up behind them)She wouldn't,Cassadine.
Nikolas:(glowering at him)Last I checked,you didn't run my social calendar.
Lucky:This is my best friend;you stay away from her.
Emily:Lucky---
Lucky:(silences her by holding up a hand)Unless you want me to throw you down another flight of stairs,I suggest you beat it!
Emily:You threw him down a flight of stairs?
Lucky:(shrugs)Yeah.

Emily rolled her eyes.She had been best friends with Lucky since she was 10,so she knew his temper well.She could tell he was about to loose it on this guy.

Emily:(gently grabbing Lucky's arm)Um,let's just go to your dad's club?We can shoot some pool...
Lucky:Okay.

They walked off,leaving Nikolas to go to Kelly's alone.

Emily:If he's your half-brother---
Lucky:(through gritted teeth)He is not my brother.
Emily:Okay.
Lucky:Uh...why were you talking to him?
Emily:I bumped into him.He started talking.I couldn't be rude.
Lucky:Oh...Well,promise me you won't be around him?
Emily:It's important to you?
Lucky:(rolls his eyes)Yes.
Emily:Sure.I promise.
Lucky:Good...Cassadines are dangerous.
Emily:(trying desperately to change the subject)Uh...You called me to talk about something?
Lucky:Huh?Oh,yeah...You remember me telling you about my cousin Sly?
Emily:Yeah...
Lucky:Well,his band kinda broke up.He asked me to join...and now we need a chick singer.
Emily:Really?
Lucky:So...Will ya try out?
Emliy:Me?
Lucky:Yeah...You've got a beautiful voice.
Emily:Yeah?Well...okay.Are you gonna be there?
Lucky:Sorry,I can't...I gotta run some errands for your brother...I'll meet ya at your place after?
Emily:Sure.

Chapter 2:

Emily approached Sly Eckert's garage nervously.She couldn't believe she was about to audition for a total stranger,all by herself!She stopped short,and her breath caught in her chest as she saw the gorgeous blonde with his shirt off,twirling drumsticks.

Emily:(knocks on the side of the open door-facing)Hello?
Sly:(jumps up)Whoa!Don't scare me like that!
Emily:Uh...sorry...
Sly:(taking her frame in appreciatively)No problem...You the chick Lucky was talking about?The singer?
Emily:Uh-huh.
Sly:Cool.(grabs a guitar)Well,since Luck's not here,I guess I'll have to play for you.
Emily:You can play both?
Sly:(grins)Better than that...I can play 'em all.
Emily:Really?
Sly:Oh...we seem to be doing this backwards.
Emily:What?
Sly:(extends his hand)I'm Sly Eckert.
Emily:(accepting the shake)Emily Quartermaine.
Sly:Okay...let's get started.

Sly started to play the guitar,so Emily could sing along.

Emily:Really?
Sly:Yeah...you,uh,wanna hang for a while?
Emily:Um...sure.Why not?

Back at Sonny's penthouse,Sonny & Jason were settling up with Lucky over the work he'd done this week.

Lucky:(glances at his watch)I wonder why Em hasn't come back yet?
Jason:Why?Where did she go?
Lucky:My cousin Sly's,to audition for our band.(shrugs)I told him she was good,but...he wanted to hear her himself.

Suddenly,Emily comes in.

Emily:Hey.
Lucky:So?
Emily:I'm in...
Lucky:(concerned)What's the matter?
Emily:Um,it's nothing.
Jason:You sure?
Emily:Well...I'm not sure if I got in because I'm good,or because Sly's...interested.
Sonny:Did he try somethin' with you?
Emily:(quickly)No...but,he did ask me out.(shrugs)I'm goin'...he's cute...I just got to thinkin' on the way home.
Lucky:Oh...Don't worry;Sly's real particular about his music...
Emily:(relieved)Oh...Good.Well,I'm gonna go get ready.
Jason:You're goin' tonight?
Emily:Uh-huh...

She sort of floats out of the apartment,ignoring the odd looks of the men inside,and goes to get ready for her date.

Chapter 3:


Emily threw the 4th dress on her bed in irritation.She had never been on a real date before,and she wanted to look good...Unfortunately,she didn't seem to look quite right in anything she'd tried on so far.Sighing heavily,she hollered for Carly to come in.

Carly:What?What's wrong?
Emily:I have a date tonight.
Carly:Oh...Cute?
Emily:Extremely...But,I don't have anything to wear!
Carly:Honey,you've got tons of clothes!
Emily:Yes,but...they don't seem right somehow...
Carly:Oh...dressin' to thrill?
Emily:(smiling)Something like that.
Carly:Well,maybe I've got something.
Emily:(skeptically)Will it fit me?
Carly:Well,I've got some dresses that nearly cut off my circulation,but...they sizzle!I'll bet you could wear one or two of them.
Emily:Why wear them if they're so tight?
Carly:(smirking)Who says I wear them long?

Emily just rolls her eyes & follows her down the hall.About a half-hour later,Jason knocks on the door to his & Carly's bedroom.

Carly:Come in.
Jason:You rea---

He breaks off in shock and his eyes get wide when he sees what Carly has his baby sister wearing.It is a skin-tight,shimmery,rainbow tube-dress.Very short,and very lowcut.

Jason:Where's the rest of that dress?
Carly:Jase,you've seen me wear that before.That's it.
Jason:Do you want something to happen to her?Em,you don't honestly want to wear that?
Emily:Well...

She had to admit,at least to herself,she felt more than a little self-conscious.

Emily:Um...Carly said Sly'd like it?
Jason:Yeah,I'll bet he would.
Carly:You aren't forbidding her to wear that,are you?
Jason:No...but,if you do,I'm sending a couple of bodyguards with you.
Emily:What?
Jason:Well...if he gets ideas...
Emily:(smiling gently)I'll put on another dress.
Carly:(trying hard not to laugh)Okay...I'll see if I've got something a little...younger.

Jason went downstairs,and they continued getting her ready.Presently,there was a knock at the door.He pulls it open,but doesn't invite the newcomer in just yet.

Jason:Somethin' I can help you with?
Sly:I'm...um...here to pick up Emily?

Jason stands back and gestures for him to enter.After he shuts the door,Sly sits down.

Jason:I've never been much for rules...
Sly:Oh?
Jason:No,but...this is my sister's first date.
Sly:(surprised)Really?
Jason:Yes.Now...my sister is a lady,and she will be treated as such.Understood?
Sly:Um,yeah.
Jason:Good...Midnight.
Sly:(confused)Midnight?
Jason:(annoyed)Her curfew.
Sly:Oh,right...

Sly had never been so relieved as when Emily came down the stairs,and they left.She was wearing this great ice-blue dress with a flared skirt,and her hair was swept up off her face by a tiny braid in the back.Emily was glad Jason seemed to approve of this one.At least he allowed Sly to drive...

Chapter 4:


Lucky picked up Emily the next morning for practice.On the ride over,she noticed that he was unusually quiet.

Emily:Lucky?
Lucky:Hmmm?
Emily:Are you mad at me or something?
Lucky:(startled)No...why would I be?
Emily:(shrugs)Well...you've barely said a word all morning.
Lucky:Oh...sorry.It's just...
Emily:What?
Lucky:Nothin'...just got a lot on my mind.
Emily:Oh,okay.
Lucky:(trying to sound casual)So...how was your date last night?

Emily looked at him oddly.If she didn't know better,she'd swear he sounded...jealous?Nah,that's crazy...

Emily:Um,it was okay.No biggie.
Lucky:Oh...

They came into the garage,and started setting up.

Sly:So,Lucky,you finnish that song you were workin' on yet?
Lucky:Yeah.
Emily:What's it called?
Lucky:"Unlucky".Ready to practice it?
Sly:Okay.

Sly got behind the drums,Emily behind the keyboard,and Lucky grabbed a guitar & stepped up to the mike.

Lucky:You're not my brother.Not at all.You saved me sister,but,so what?A string of Luck,was all it was.You'd better be careful,I'm gonna *@#$ you up.You're not my brother.Look at your eyes.They're a different color,and a different size.So,what's behind the puppy-dog eyes?Don't cross the line,it's a very thin line.It's a great shade,called a masquerade.If you dont' show me,I'll rip it off right down to the bone.You hit town with evil eyes.And,the one thing that ties me to life and love,ya suck it out with vampire blood...My mother's crazy,she has sympathy for the devil's eyes.And though disguised as pure love,a forgotten son should fit like a glove.But,behind the mask,there's a task.I've acquired a rash,that seems to itch.I just might scratch it.Yeah.I just might scratch it until it bleeds.You hit town with evil eyes.And,the one thing that ties me to life and love,ya suck it out with vampire blood...

Sly:Whoa...
Emily:Yeah...
Lucky:Usable?
Sly:Definately!

A few hours later,Lucky and Emily were hanging around the penthouse,babysitting Micheal.

Emily:You sure you don't mind doing this?
Lucky:Nah;I like your nephew.
Emily:(proudly smiling at the toddler on her lap)Well...who wouldn't?
Lucky:(grins)Hmmm...you may have a point.

Suddenly,the phone rings.

Emily:Lucky,could you?
Lucky:Sure.(picks up the phone)Hello...(annoyed)What do you want,Prince?...(puts phone on his chest)Why is he calling here?
Emily:I don't know;he never has before.
Lucky:No?
Emily:No.
Lucky:(picks phone back up)What do you want?
Emily:(admonishingly)Lucky!Let me---
Lucky:No...no...sorry.Bye.(hangs up)
Emily:What did he want?
Lucky:You.
Emily:Then why---
Lucky:Cassadines are dangerous.(stands up)It's for your own good.Want a soda?
Emily:(sighs)Yeah,okay.

Lucky disappears into the kitchen,and Emily just looks at Micheal and shakes her head.

Chapter 5:


Lucky had been thinking in his truck about all the feelings he'd been experiencing lately.He felt guilt,for one thing.Guilty because he was having "more than friends" feelings for his best friend,who also happened to be the girl his cousin was seeing.He didn't know what to do.If he didn't tell her,it'd eat him up inside.But,if he did...he could loose them both.He turned on the radio to hear an old Rick Springfield song...

Jesse is a friend.Yeah,and I know he's been a friend of mine.But,lately somethin's changed and it ain't hard to define.Jesse's got himself a girl and I wanna make her mine.And she's watchin' him with those eyes.And,she's lovin' him with that body,I just know it.And,he's holdin' her in his arms late,late at night.Ya know I wish that I had Jesse's girl.I wish that I had Jesse's girl.Where can I find a woman like that?I'll play along with the charade,ya know there doesn't seem to be a reason to change.You know I feel so dirty when they start talkin' cute.I wanna tell her that I love her but the point is probably moot.Cos she's watchin' him with those eyes---

Lucky flicked it off in annoyance.When he got to the garage,though...a horrific sight met his eyes...Sly was all over Emily.Kissing her...he turned and strode out of the garage before they noticed him.Unfortuantely,it was before he heard Emily...

Emily:Sly!Stop!
Sly:But...
Emily:Just...no!

Emily ran outside,to see Lucky getting into his truck.

Emily:Lucky?
Lucky:(stiffly)Hello.
Emily:What's the matter?Where are you going?
Lucky:You don't need me interupting.
Emily:Oh,you saw...
Lucky:Yeah,I saw.
Emily:But---
Lucky:Look,I...I just need some air,okay.I'm goin' for a drive!

With that,he got into his truck and drove off,leaving Emily to look after him,bewildered.

Emily's eyes stung with tears,tears that she let flow freely down her face.

She ran all the way down the docks,not noticing anyone or anything.When she got to the bench,she fell in front of it,crying her heart out.
Nikolas:(coming up behind her)Is everything okay?

She looked up at him in shock.She didn't know what to do.Lucky was mad at her,things weren't gonna work with Sly...

Nikolas:(breaking into her thoughts)Would you like to go for a boat ride?To my yacht?
Emily:(wiping the tears away)Sure.Why not?

Chapter 6:


Lucky walked into Luke's office,annoyed that he was alone.Suddenly,Luke came in,though.

Luke:Hey,kiddo.What's up?
Lucky:Uh...nothin'.
Luke:Did you know your friend Emily is consorting with Cassadines?
Lucky:(shocked)WHAT?!
Luke:Yeah,saw her getting onto a boat with Niky-boy.
Lucky:Aw,geez...this ain't good.
Luke:I thought not.
Lucky:I...I gotta go.
Luke:Want me to come with you?
Lucky:No,s'ok.

Lucky raced to the launch,glad that there was another boat left.He paddled madly for the yacht...

Nikolas poured Emily a glass of wine.

Emily:Um...I don't drink.
Nikolas:Oh,then...neither will I.

She began to feel extremely uncomfortable as he started moving closer to her,so she consequently backed away slightly.

Nikolas:(laughing a little)You need to relax.
Emily:Um,I should be going now.
Nikolas:(grabs her wrist)I don't think so,not yet...

Lucky heard the scream as soon as he reached the yacht.He didn't even think,he just grabbed Nikolas away from Emily and shoved him into the wall,knocking him unconscious.Then,he helped Emily off the ship and into the smaller boat,so they could make it to the docks.By the time they got there,Emily was trembling something awful.

Lucky:(gathering her up in his arms)Shhh.Shhh.
Emily:(voice hitching)I'm...sor...sorry.
Lucky:For what?
Emily:You warned me...
Lucky:Oh,well...it's okay.You're okay,now.
Emily:And...this afternoon...
Lucky:(feeling his throat constrict)If...if you and Sly are---
Emily:NO!
Lucky:Huh?"No",what?
Emily:We aren't together.
Lucky:What?
Emily:I...this afternoon...if you'd've stuck around,you'd've heard me tell him no.
Lucky:(embarrassed)Oh...
Emily:(continuing)It's not gonna work...it's better that we try just to be friends.
Lucky:Really?
Emily:Yeah...
Lucky:Em,I am sooo sorry for today.None of it would've happened if I hadn't been all jealous---
Emily:Did you just say jealous?
Lucky:Oh...Um,yeah,I guess so...I...I think I'm in love with you!
Emily:Really?
Lucky:Yeah...I don't want to ruin what we have,but---

Emily puts 2 fingers over his lips.

Emily:You know something,Spencer?
Lucky:What?
Emily:You talk to much.

With that,she reaches up and gives him a gentle kiss,which he returns in earnest.

Lucky:Does this mean you love me too?
Emily:What do you think?(she reaches up to kiss him again)
