Chapter 6:

Lucky tossed and turned in bed, as the morning light broke through the blinds. Finally he sat up opening his eyes and looking around the room. After a few moments he realized what day it was, Christmas Eve. He turned and looked at the wrapped box on his nightstand. He took it in his hands and studied it. The dark green paper and deep berry ribbon. He clutched the box in his hand and held it close to his heart.

As he looked at the box, his mind drifting as he tried to remember the scent of Emily’s perfume, his cell phone rang.

Lucky: Spencer, Hey Leigh.

Leigh: Babe, listen, talk, tell me did you tell her?

Lucky: I told her.

Leigh: Well….what the hell happened Spencer?

Lucky: I know she loves me but she won’t admit to it though, she’s claiming to still love Nikolas.

Leigh: Damn it! What are you going to do?

Lucky: I’m going to persue her like there is no tomorrow, up until the priest asks if anyone objects.

Leigh: Your gonna stop them right?

Lucky: Looking for a plot for your first Novel?

Leigh: No my second. Listen, I’m here in New Jersey, if you need help on oh I don’t know maybe, just possibly winning the love your life. Just say the word.

Lucky: The word, how soon can you be here?

Leigh: Well if I leave in about hour I’ll be there say five-o’clock this evening.

Lucky: Great! You have the address?

Leigh: Yeah, see ya later today.

Lucky: Thanks.

Leigh: What are friends for?

Lucky: Support?

Leigh: Keep up the laughter, Bye babe.

Leigh hangs up the phone and Lucky turns off his phone.

Lucky: Thanks Leigh.

Laura is in the kitchen going over several lists. Lucky walks in wearing a pair of jeans and the Centaurus high sweat-shirt.

Laura: Morning Lucky.

Lucky: Mom, my best-friend Leigh is along for the holidays, is it alright if she stays here while she’s in town?

Laura: (looking up from the lists) Of course, when shall she be arriving?

Lucky: This evening.

Laura: You know where the sheets are, so make-up the guestroom.

Lucky: (kisses her on the cheek) Thanks mom.

Laura: Your welcome. (pauses) How close are you and Leigh?

Lucky: Were just friends Mom, nothing more, nothing less.

Laura: Really, her name does start with an L.

Lucky: (chuckles) Mom, I’ve always gone for girls whose names start with E.

Laura: Like Elizabeth?

Lucky: Elizabeth is one.

Lucky stands and leaves, Laura still sitting at the table realizes that Lulu was right, at least on Lucky’s end of things.

Laura: I wonder what he’s up to.

Luke and Lulu are at the club. They’re sitting at the bar wrapping some gifts.

Lulu: Daddy, is it too late to tell Santa what I want?

Luke: Your cutting it close pumpkin. What do you want?

Lulu: Well Daddy, I want Lucky and Emily to get together.

Luke: Lucky and Emily? Lulu, Emily’s marrying Nikolas.

Lulu: They love each other though.

Luke: What makes you say that?

Lulu: The way they look at each other from across the room, they’re body language when they’re alone, the fact that Emily tried to stop Lucky from leave the night he left, plus I set them up.

Luke: (surprised) You did what?

Lulu: I wrote them each a letter saying it was from the other, and told them to meet in the chapel at GH.

Luke: Did they?

Lulu: (nods and looks down at the bar top) Lucky told Emily he loves her and she told him she didn’t want to hear it because it will change everything.

Luke: Well, well my little girl a match maker.

Lulu: Am I in trouble?

Luke: Nope. (lulu looks up) Truthfully, I think you right about those two.

Lulu: Really?

Luke: Yeah, ever since they ran away together.

Lulu: They did what?

Luke tells the story, just as he finishes the phone rings.

Luke: Luke’s, Hey baby.

Laura: We’ve got company for the holiday’s and a problem with Lucky.

Luke: Who and what did Cowboy get into now?

Laura: Lucky’s friend Leigh will be arriving this evening and the problem is our son is in love with his brothers fianc.

Luke: Oh really (looks at Lulu and smiles) what makes you say that darlin?

Laura: He said that he’s always gone for girls whose names start with E.

Luke: Elizabeth?

Laura: Emily!

Luke: Tell me something I don’t know already. The boy has been since before they ran away.

Laura: Like! Emily and Nikolas are getting married New Years Eve!

Luke: I wouldn’t count on that.

Laura: What do you know?

Luke: That if Lucky’s got Leigh coming up, he’s called for help. I also know that our boy has already declared his love to the love Miss QUARTERMAINE.

Laura: Oh my, and how do you know this?

Luke: Our little match-maker set them up.

Laura: I should have known she wouldn’t give up on the idea.

Luke: Of course not she’s a Spencer.

Laura: Keep an eye on her. I’ll stop by after I go to Bobbie and Jerry’s to see about tomorrow.

Luke: Alright darlin.

Luke hangs up the phone and looks at Lesley Lu.

Luke: Looks like your mother wants Nikolas and Emily together.

Lulu: Well then Mommy’s gonna be surprised when Emily and Nikky’s wedding gets canceled.

Luke: You’re sure that’s what’s gonna happen aren’t you?

Lulu: As sure as Lucky bought Emily a turquoise pendant.

Luke: Turquoise huh?

Lulu: Yup.

It’s mid afternoon, Emily is laying on her bed reading a short story written by one of her fellow online chatters.

Emily: Leigh, Leigh, Leigh, you certainly have the tragic romance down.

Emily rises and walks over to the laptop. After she loads the screen, she logs on-line. She sees and e-mail from Leigh.

Emily-

I just happened to be arriving in Port Charles later this evening. I’ll be staying with my old roommate from when I went to CU. Maybe if your not going out of your mind getting ready for your wedding we can get together.

Gotta hit the road!

Leigh J.

Emily clicked on the reply link and wrote a quick e-mail. It basically said she’s love the short story and they just had to meet.
