Lucky looked gently at the beautiful creature sleeping in his arms.This was not what either of them had expected.But,he had learned a thing or two being a captive...the most important being that you have to fight for what you want.He dropped a gentle kiss on the top of her head,careful not to disturb her.

Lucky:(sighs)I love you,Emily...

Chapter 2:


Emily awoke in the middle of the night,not quite sure where she was.She soon realized that she was in Lucky's arms,and remembered how she'd gotten there...

Emily:(rising up quickly)Oh,no,no,no!
Lucky:(waking up)Hmmm?What is it?
Emily:What did we do?
Lucky:(grinning)Well,as I recall...
Emily:(tosses a pillow at him)That's not what I meant!
Lucky:Oh?
Emily:No!What about Juan and Lizzie?
Lucky:What about them?
Emily:Well,don't you think they'll be hurt?
Lucky:(cupping her face gently in his hands)Em...We can't spend our lives trying to please other people...I don't want to hurt them,either,but...
Emily:But?
Lucky:I love you,and I'm not just giving up!
Emily:You love me?
Lucky:Of course...Think about something for a minute...We each waited with our respective so-called loves,and nothing happened.But,we are supposed to be friends,and...Ya see where I'm goin' with this?Don't you think it means something?
Emily:I...I don't know...I mean...I think I love you,too,but...
Lucky:But?
Emily:I'm afraid.Afraid of hurting people we really care about.Afraid of loosing the best friend I've ever had...
Lucky:You are not gonna loose me;not ever.No matter what happens...we're always us.
Emily:You promise?
Lucky:Promise.
Emily:(laying back on his chest)How are we going to tell them?

Chapter 3:


Emily slipped out at dawn,knowing Liz may show up at any time for breakfast or something.When she got to the penthouse,she saw Jason sitting on the couch already,drinking a cup of coffee.

Jason:Hello.
Emily:Hi,Jason...I'm sorry I didn't call...but...stuff was goin' on at Lucky's...

If only he knew the truth of that statement!

Jason:S'ok...I knew you were with him.
Emily:Thanks...
Jason:(looks at her carefully)Is everything all right?
Emily:Um...not really.But,I can't talk about it just yet.
Jason:Well,okay...but,I'm here if you need me.
Emily:(giving him a peck on the cheek)Yeah,I know.

She went to the kitchen and grabbed herself a bagel.She'd been living with Jason for nearly 6 months now,ever since that camp fiasco.Lucky had been found about 5 months ago,when Luke had discovered Faison's plans.She shuddered as she thought back to how Sonny almost ended up in Federal prison around that time...

Lucky woke up and reached out instinctively for Emily.Disappointed,he realized she was gone.Where she had lay was still warm,though,and the pillow still smelled like her.Suddenly,the door was thrown open.

Liz:Hey,Lucky!I brought you some breakfast!
Lucky:(weakly)Elizabeth...

Instinctively,he pulled the covers up around him,and wore them like a towel.

Lucky:Um,I'll be out in a minute.I'll...go get dressed.
Liz:(trying not to giggle)Sure.

Lucky splashed some cold water on his face.

Lucky:Get it together,Spencer.You gotta tell her sometime...

Chapter 4:


A few hours later,Lucky shuffeled into the penthouse,looking decidedly guilty.

Emily:You didn't tell her?
Lucky:(countering)Did you tell Juan?
Emily:Well,no,but...
Lucky:I...I couldn't...How do you say soemthing like that?
Jason:Something like what?
Emily:We slept together.
Lucky:(at the same time)We realized we're in love.
Jason:What?
Emily:(miserably)How do you tell someone you've spent months of your life in a relationship with,that...that...you betrayed them?Not only that,Lizzie is my friend.And Lucky is friends with Juan...Geez,he stayed for me...
Jason:(sighs)You can't help what you feel.Granted,you probably should have told them before you had sex,but...what's done is done.It's not like you can take something like this back.
Lucky:Do you want to?
Emily:Not really...I know that sounds awful,but...I feel bad for hurting them,but I can't feel bad for what happened.I can't make myself sorry.(whispering)Am I awful?
Jason:(sincerely)No...I'd rather you follow your heart than someone else's.
Emily:(firmly)We have to tell them.Tonight.
Lucky:You're right.(sighs heavily)Man...this is gonna be rough...
Emily:On all of us...

Chapter 5:


Jason had decided to give her the apartment to herself tonight,so she called Juan to come over.Lucky had called Liz to come over to his place as well.


I think I know the way the story's gonna end.
It's getting to the part I hate,when heartache closes in.

Liz:(worriedly)Lucky?You sounded so upset on the phone.What's wrong.
Lucky:Elizabeth,sit down,please.

She sat down with a scared look on her face,and Lucky sat facing her.

The stage is set,it's time for me to leave.
Cos,I don't wanna see the final scene.

Emily:Hey,Juan.
Juan:Hey,beautiful.

She almost stiffens guiltily as he gives her a peck.

Juan:(picking up on this immediately)What's wrong?

Fade to blue.
We didn't make it through.
Let the curtian fall,
and fade to blue.

Lucky:(sighs heavily)Elizabeth,I'm so sorry.
Liz:For what?Lucky,what's going on?
Lucky:I slept with Emily.

We played the part of lovers,
knew every line by heart.
But,sometimes love just can't erase
what's written in the stars.

Juan:Emily?You're starting to scare me.Say something.
Emily:(flatly)I slept with Lucky.
Juan:Well,not that...

So,before the bitter words come crashing down,
let's leave what's left,and let the lights go out...

Liz just sat there in utter shock.It was as if she wasn't even in her own body anymore;her eyes were just...empty...

Concerned,Lucky reached out to touch her arm.

Liz:(snapping back as though she'd been stung)(screaming)Don't touch me!
Lucky:Elizabeth,I---
Liz:There is no excuse,Lucky!None!You...you...pig!

And,fade to blue.
We didn't make it through.
There won't be a curtain call.
Just fade to blue.

Juan:(slowly)You slept with him?
Emily:(starting to cry)Y...yes...I...I'm sorry,Juan.
Juan:(incredulously)You're sorry?You're sorry?!
Emily:Juan,I---
Juan:(angerily)NO!

Almost happy endings have a way of coming through,
once the feeling starts to fade...
Fade to blue.

Liz:How long has this been going on?
Lucky:Last night.
Liz:Well,I suppose I should be grateful you at least didn't make me out to be a fool for too long!
Lucky:(extends his hand)Elizabeth...
Liz:No,Lucky!Not this time!Goodbye!

With that,she stalks out.

We didn't make it through.
So,let the curtain fall...

Emily:I never meant to hurt you...
Juan:Lying little tramp!
Emily:I...

Before she could say another word,she was shocked into silence by the hard contact of his palm,connecting with her cheek!

Just fade to blue...
And fade to blue...

Chapter 6:


Lucky walked into his father's office looking distraught.

Luke:Somethin' I can do for you,Cowboy?
Lucky:Uh...give me a drink?
Luke:What?
Lucky:(starts rubbing his temples and sticking slowly)I just want a drink.Give me a drink.I really need a drink.
Luke:(concerned)Okay.(pours them each some crown in shot-glasses)Now...you wanna tell me what's wrong?

Lucky downed the glas in one sip,causing him to cough a bit.

Lucky:(regaining his equalibrim)Okay...

He launched into the entire story...

Juan looked at his reddening palm in shock.Before he could react to Emily's being huddled on the floor,Sonny came in and grabbed him!

Sonny:What is wrong with you?!

He slammed him into the wall,still keeping hold of his shirt,and shakes him slightly.

Juan:(copping an attitude)You're not my father!You don't tell me what to do!
Sonny:(enraged,backhands him hard)Oh,no?(deadly cold)You don't ever,and I mean ever hit a woman!Understood?(shakes him fiercely)Understood?!
Juan:Yeah,yeah...understood.
Sonny:Good...

He throws him into the hall.

Sonny:I would suggest leaving for now.I would also suggest staying out of Jason's path.He won't go so easy.

With that,he slams the door...

Chapter 7:


Jason came into the penthouse to see Sonny sitting next to Emily on the couch,and noticed the ice-pack that was on her cheek...

Jason:What happened?!
Emily:Relax,Jason.I'm okay.
Jason:(sits on table in front of her)Lemme see,huh?

Emily removes the ice-pack to reveal an ugly black-and-purple bruise,covering almost her entire cheek.Jason's eyes widened in horror.

Jason:(jaw tensed with anger)Who did that to your face?
Emily:It's okay---
Jason:WHO?!
Emily:(quietly)Juan.
Jason:(rising up)That's it;he's dead.
Emily:No!I'm fine!Sonny took care of it.

Jason flicks an unreadable glance to Sonny.

Jason:He's dead?
Sonny:No,of course not!I smacked him,told him to get lost,told him not to ever hit another woman...
Jason:(sarcastically)Oh,yeah...that's gonna do a lot of good.
Emily:I think it scared him.I don't think he meant it;I don't think he'd ever do something like this again.
Jason:No,he won't...Because he's never getting near you again.He won't live that long!
Sonny:Jason,that's not gonna do any good!
Jason:Look,I told you once before;I don't care if he is Lily's son!He will not use or hurt my sister in any way!
Sonny:Okay,okay,fine...Just...well,we'll think of another way.
Jason:Sonny,it's time to send him back.Way past time!
Sonny:(quietly)Yeah,I know.
Jason:Uh...put that back on,don't want it to swell worse...I'm gonna go make the calls.

Chapter 8:


In their early-morning,hangover-induced stupor,Luke & Lucky barely heard the insistant ringing of the phone.

Lucky:(groggily)'Lo?...WHAT?!...I...I'll be right there....Dad,we gotta get to GH,quick!

They rushed out of the club.

Just around the same time,Emily got a phonecall,and she had Jason drive her to GH...

Emily:Lucky?
Lucky:(looking distraght)Em...What happened?
Emily:(dismissively)Don't worry about that;what happened to Liz?
Lucky:Um...she...they're gonna put her in the psych ward.
Emily:Why?
Lucky:She tried to kill herself...says she'll do it again...until they let her go...
Nikolas:(coming up)And,I suppose you think you're being here is anything but detrimental?
Lucky:Excuse me?
Nikolas:(tauntingly)Oh,come on,Lucky.I know what happened,who's really responsible for this.(looks at Emily)So,why don't you take your whore and get the hell out of here?

Lucky's eyes flashed like the blazes of hell itself,and he lunged at Nikolas,catching him off guard.Unfortunately,it's not for long.Nikolas regains his balance,and they begin fighting,only to be pulled apart by Jason & Luke.

Luke:(restraining Nikolas)Now is not the time,Cassadine.Or the place.
Lucky:Eh...he's right.
Nikolas:(arrogantly)Well...I suppose I'll put up with you for---(looks around)Where's Emily?

Chapter 9:


Jason:I'll go look for her;you guys behave yourselves.

Jason doesn't know exactly where to start,but...he thinks about the roof,so he goes up there,and sees her sitting there with her knees drawn up under her chin,sobbing her heart out.

Jason:(gently)Emily?
Emily:Ohhh...J...Jason...I...I...

She collapses on his chest,her body wracked with hysterical sobs.Jason just holds her tight and strokes her hair comfortingly.

Jason:(soothingly)Shhh.Shhh.It's gonna be okay...it will...
Emily:No,it isn't...N...nikolas...
Jason:(through gritted teeth)Don't pay any attention to that...junior vampire!
Emily:(laughs a little)You sound like Luke!
Jason:Well...I am beginging to see a lot of Luke's points.
Emily:(whispering)What if he's right?I mean,Liz has been,like,completely devoted to Lucky for so long...
Jason:And,he fell in love with you.It happens.(under his breath)Believe me,I know.
Emily:(lifts a tear-streaked face)So,I didn't almost kill her?
Jason:(pulls her tight to him)No!Don't you ever think that!Baby...this was not your fault,do you hear me?

Emily barely nods against his chest.

Lucky:He's right;I did this.
Luke:No,son...
Lucky:I made her promises,Dad!So many promises...and I broke 'em all!Twice!
Luke:The first time wasn't your fault...
Lucky:What about this time?

Chapter 10:


A little while later,Lucky and Luke came up to the roof to see Emily almost asleep,leaning against Jason.

Lucky:(quietly)Hey.
Emily:Hmmm?
Lucky:Um,you never did tell me what happened to you...
Emily:Well...let's just say Juan didn't take the news much better than Liz.

Lucky's eyes widen in shock.

Jason:(catching the look)Chill.Sonny and I had him...relocated.
Luke:Where?
Jason:Puerto Rico;with his father.Should be halfway there by now.
Emily:(softly)How's Liz?
Lucky:She...um...they had to strap her down...She'll only see Nikolas.
Emily:I'm sorry,Lucky.
Lucky:Not your fault...it's my own...(shakes his head ruefully)Well...we'll work it out somehow.

Nikolas:Liz?
Liz:Nikolas!I...
Nikolas:Shhh.Shhh.Don't try to talk.It's going to be allright.
Liz:Of course it is...I realize where I truly belong.
Nikolas:Oh?Where's that?
Liz:With you...

Chapter 11:


Lucky went to Jake's to meet Emily.It had been 2 weeks since Lizzie had tried to kill herself.A shocking development had occured since then,and he wasn't sure how to explain her.

Emily:Lucky?
Lucky:Hey...
Emily:Is something wrong?
Lucky:Um...let's dance.Put on a song.
Emily:(shrugs)Okay...(she goes over to the jukebox and puts on a song)

Lucky pulls her to him,and they dance closely together.

Close your eyes,and you will see,what you mean to me.
Search your heart;search your soul.
And,when ya find me there you'll search no more.

Lucky:Wow...this is such a weird thing to talk about...
Emily:What is?
Lucky:Elizabeth and Nikolas...they're going to move to Greece and get married.
Emily:What?!
Lucky:Yeah,I know...

Don't tell me,it's not worth tryin' for.
Ya can't tell me,it's not worth dyin' for.
You know it's true,everything I do,
I do it for you...

Emily:(looking at him carefully)Are you okay?
Lucky:Yeah...I want them to be happy...I'm just...shocked.
Emily:Oh...not hurt?

Lucky:(shocked)Hurt?
Emily:Well...Liz and your brother...

Lucky:(musingly)Juan and Nikolas...I can't say I see them as a couple...

Emily laughed a little and gave him a playful shove.He kissed her softly and quickly,then she lay her head back on his chest and he lay his cheek on the top of her head.

That night was the Nurse's Ball.The first act of the evening opened up with Lucky sitting under a cloud,wearing a tux and strumming his guitar.On the cloud was Emily,dressed like an angel,laying across it,leant towards him...
